Finally reached the Armor pen cap the other night and soon some of my gear upgrades will push me even further over the cap so I can start replacing Armor Pen gems.

My question is..other than matching yellow socket's with either str/hit or str/crit based on what I need. Should I start replacing the 20arp gems with 20str or crit/str? Should i start going for socket bonuses like 4agi or ignore those?

Anyway, my guild raids with an odd healing comp. We have 3 Resto Shaman, a Disc Priest, A holy pally, and me (a holy Priest).Sometimes a Resto Shaman is subbed out for a Resto Druid and sometimes I'm sat.

Anyway, last night we did the easy bosses in ICC25, and for most of the night I was just horribly horribly out healed on every fight. I know healing meters don't matter, but I'm talking I was out healed by a Disc Priest bad.

The spec I was using last night was-http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#bVcbuZrEzcbMqihhcuAo

But then I went over my world of logs (World of Logs - Real Time Raid Analysis) and saw Flash Heal was my #1 heal by quite a large margin, so I specced into empowered healng (4/5 cuz i ran out of points, I also wanted to max out all the Renew talents)

Granted it was probably inflated a bit because of whatever the healing dragon fight is called (that's why I have 54 greater heals) but yeah.

The problem I was having was just almost every CoH was overheal and PRoM was hardly effective, and by the time PoH went off there had already been 3 Chain Heals bouncing around so my healing was almost all overheal.

I was playing conservatively with mana which is one of my problems, but the healing officer told me that I need to up my healing if I want to keep my spot.

So I just want to know, realistically with the amount of Resto Shaman in the raid, did I just have a really really off night, or was it just pointless to have a Holy priest with 3 resto shaman and a Resto druid all in the raid?

Thanks in advance.
Flash heal shouldn't be your number one spell. It has it's uses, but it's pretty terrible for raid healing, and you shouldn't be on the tanks very often as holy. Cast renew more, especially in damage aura situations like festergut with lots of gas and marrowgar bonestorm. You invested talent points in it for a reason.

Being outhealed by a Discipline priest isn't exactly shameful. There are some fights where discipline can do very well on WoL by simply spamming shields on everyone.

I'm just wondering... Is this spreadsheet still maintained? There's almost nobody replying in this thread.

If you're going to take the Renew talents, use Renew. Start casting it instead of FH, your ER heals should be relatively low overhealing and ER + Renew should be 30%+ of your overall healing.

Likewise, PRoM is more effective if you cast it every cooldown. If nothing else, bounce it off the tanks. It appears that at Marrowgar and Deathwhisper there were long periods of time with no PRoM from you in the raid. Cast it on Bone Spike victims and during Bone Storm. You should get massive healing out of it at Festergut if you keep it on cooldown and bouncing through the raid.

In your healing composition PoH would be very low on the priority of heals to cast. Instead, keep Renew rolling so the CH is bouncing to other targets.

Work on spending most of your mana on each fight, including your shadowfiend and your Hymm. I tend to hold my mana potions in reserve for emergencies (healer deaths, DPS deaths that would prolong a fight) and gear for throughput. For some longer fights this means changing out some gear and trading throuput stats for mana regen (more pieces from my Disc set).

Update your profile to reflect a character you're playing, even if your priest isn't your main.

Well last night I didn't have the Renew talents, I just picked them up today to try out tonight. But thanks for that tip, I'll keep it in mind.

I know I'm supposed to cast PRoM on every CD I just forget, something I gotta work on.

Yeah I suppose it was dumb to try and PoH, oversight on my part.

And yeah I know I played too conservatively. I was waiting for big AoE damage to heal so I never fell below 15k mana without hymning or shadowfiending I don't think.

I guess I just wasn't playing very smart last night. I need to use Renew more intelligently and PRoM on CD.

Anyway, thanks for the tips. Hopefully I'll do better tonight (:

Oh and my profile is my Priest now, but my spec in my armory is wrong, I went with- Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

Does that look better?

Over on Wow Head, you can have it sort items into slots and then order them according to usefulness for a specific spec. For holy paladins, I was wondering if this looked like a decent gear order:

Items - World of Warcraft

Mostly I was looking for comments on the stat weights. I weighted Int at 100, haste at 80, mp5 at 70, spell power at 60, and crit at 50. This is different from the presets for Holy paladins which has haste at 35 and mp5 at 88. For a quick and dirty priority list, do those weight be good? Should SP be lower or haste higher?

I love the way you put that Zurm... "Crap your pants"* difference like shadowmourne would be." Classic Ret humor! Love it. I had that when I first got the T10 2 peice set bonus all those DS procs ... and I jizzed in my pants!

Has anyone worked out how much 1% haste is DPS wise? What about at 40%?

I know the general consenses is STR STR STR but i'm starting to notice bigger increases in damage stacking haste than strength at larger amounts...

I would even go so far as dispute the efficiency gain in P1, if you're taking longer to push LK into P2. I don't think this is even debatable, and I am sure that I'm not inventing an issue out of an inability to efficiently pestilence the valkyr.
.
People really under-estimate the value of glyph of disease. It's actually the best single target glyph of all 3 if used correctly and assuming you can convince a rogue to ToT you in the beggining.(you can easily gain an extra 75k+ dmg just from that one tot in a 5minute fight, which makes you the 2nd best target behind affliction locks for the first ToT.)

Not only that but on any fight where you'll pestilence the value of the glyph goes up quiet a bit. Remember the extra wandering plague dmg alone usually makes pestilence better then 1 blood strike assuming desolation will stay up.

On a fight where you can fish for cinderglacier procs during down-time GoD also gains some value.(Think Sindragosa during the air phase)

Here's a short-list of fights where I find GoD to be worthwhile even if I don't get the first ToT.

Marrowgar - makes it easier to keep full disease up during bone storm, also convenient when pestilencing to bone spikes.

Deathwhisper - Pretty obvious if you're cleaving down the adds, you'll be casting pestilence anyways.

Saurfang - You can sync it to refresh diseases and get EPB on all the adds with GoD.

Putricide - You'll quiet often be able to pestilence from ooze to putricide.

Sindragosa - Try to proc cinderglacier while she is in the air, you can keep 20% diseases rolling till next ground phase.

Lich King - You'll be constantly pestilencing to Valks, Ghouls, Vile Spirits anyways.

Blood Princes it can be useful on depending how far you tank the mobs apart. GoD is decent for Blood Queen(since SS is your best scaling ability, still might be worse then GoDD here though.) Rotface you might gain a bit extra wandering plague dmg but nothing worth noting. Festergut is the only fight where there is literally no benefit outside of what the glyph does/sims.

I really think people look at sims and under-value GoD. GoD is much more then it sims out to be...

About the lich king:

I could be wrong about this but I think Lich King has a priority casting system which is something along the lines of Vile Spirits > Infest > Defile > Soul Reaping. Valkyrs isn't something he casts but he won't cast anything while they are spawning. This is why when everything happens to come off cooldown at once you'll notice Infest > Defile > Soul Reaping all casted one after another. This may not be 100% correct, but from what I've noticed it's pretty consistent.

Mavanas, can you share whatever tool/spreadsheet you're using on this? Not that I don't trust your results, but I'd like to play with the model myself to better understand some of the less intuitive results, which in turn may suggest new tactics or at least experiments. (For example, given the ratio of eviscerates to ruptures, it seems odd to me that Blood Spatter > Imp Eviscerate.)

Ferocious Inspiration: This ability is now an aura and provides 1/2/3% damage to all party or raid members within 100 yards and boosts the damage of Steady Shot by 3/6/9%.
That should bring BM DPS at the same level as SV DPS.

It grabs both talents and only going 2/5 Malice.

Here is the link from Mavanas. Link to 3.3.3a shimsheet.

The question now is, with
Frost

* Icy Talons: The personal haste benefit provided by this talent is no longer exclusive with other sources of melee haste. This will allow death knights to always swing 4/6/12/16/20% faster when Frost Fever is applied. Windfury Totem and the party/raid component of Improved Icy Talons still do not stack.
Is frost going to be a superior subspec? 20% haste is pretty absurd.
