Usually your real dps will be ~2000 dps lower, except you fight multi-target or are a really good player with an ideal raid setup.
You can select which buffs are active. Also the gap should be smaller that 2000 DPS because otherwise it will defeat the whole point of theorycrafting.

the [Earthsoul Boots] linked for the BIS list for heroic version is improperly linked to the non-heroic version

In my opinion, any other list makes no real sense as it would only be very temporary equip for dedicated raiders. For example, no guild will kill Arthas and not do the Gunship Hardmode next ID. Everyone knows the general rules like socketing right or reaching the hit cap via equip, gems and talents. If you really want to make a BiS-gear without hardmodes, you are free to use the stat weights from this thread or simcraft and use one of the methods I explained in the T7/T8 lists (which are useless now, I just keep them to show how you could make up a list for yourself). In my opinion, just taking any clear upgrade while having a BiS-list in mind is the best choice. Only fools would leave out every drop but the BiS-item. I can only image very rare cases where this does not work out perfectly, like strict 10-man raiders or something. Of course I respect those players, but they are really a minority and will probably be used to work things out for their own. And if you really are never going to do any hardmodes, just take away the "heroic" from the gear and you have a good composition as well!

@ Oograr - it depends on what ilvl you are aiming for. At full 264lvl gear, the legs are the correct offpiece, while at 277lvl, it would be the hc version of those gloves. You can find the entire dicussion here, and some related ideas spill over to the next page or two. Obviously varies according to your personal HEP values.

@ Pond - those are crafted boots, there shouldn't be a Heroic alternative

•Serrated Blades: This talent now allows the rogue to ignore up to 3/6/9% of the target's armor, rather than a fixed amount of armor ignored per level of the rogue.

Ferocious Inspiration now also increases the damage of Steady Shot by 9%.

Somewhat decent boost to BM to b ring it in line with the other specs i guess. :O

Distance between the hunter to the volley target

Another graphical effect with using volley is the impact of the distance of the hunter from the volley target.
From the way it looks from the graphics, the farther you are from the volley target, the less time the volley will work
It seems that part of the 5.7 seconds the volley is working is the distance it takes the volley to reach the target.
Therefore if the hunter is far, the distance takes 1.5 seconds, and only 4.2 seconds will the volley works.
If the volley target is nearby, then volley work for a longer time on the target.
Is that only a graphical effect and the distance between the hunter and the target does not affect the volley impact, or is it best practice to perform the volley as close as possible to the target?

Shaman surviability

Hello everybody! :o)

What are your thoughts about shaman surviability? Very often our shamans (ele/enh) are the first players dying. Not by failing, but by normal raiddmg. And its seems they have NEVER ankh rdy, so they seem to be dying even more often without me noticing.

Why is that? Are our shamans just not that good? In my oppinion they arent bad players. Or is it their lack of class survability by hp or cds? Should they grap some good socketboni by violet/green gems? Should they help out with healing more often when they are low on hp?

Thanks for your help!
Daniel

Updated text on the set bonus:

Item - Shaman T10 Elemental 4P Bonus - Your Lava Burst spell causes your Flame Shock effect on the target to deal at least two additional periodic damage ticks before expiring. (Old - Your Lava Burst spell increases the duration of your Flame Shock effect on the target by 6 sec.)
Makes it look more like a nerf to me. Although the wording is ambiguous enough that it could be doing almost anything.

PTR testing required I think.
