I just tested this yesterday actually. Completely un-buffed, my haste is around 1100, with 3047 spell power (almost all 264 gear), Black Magic is a very very slight (3-5) dps loss for me according to the latest simcraft (running 3.3.2 mode). I ran 10K iterations 3-4 times with various sets of gear, but I couldn't make it come out on top.
My scale was 1.67 (spell power) vs 1.51 (haste).
The fact that it could proc during a blood lust, PI, or eradication would make it seem less useful as well. I recall seeing the math somewhere on EJ that bascially equated Black Magic to 62.5 haste vs 63 spellpower. That would seemingly imply that until haste is superior in weight to spellpower for your gear, stick with +63 on your weapon (staves aside of course). As a side note, I have to yet to find a gear setup that ever valued haste higher than straight spellpower, maybe back towards tier7?

I was using EOTBM trinket from ulduar 10 and Spyglass. Recently did a toc 25 for shits and giggles and got Reign Trinket from Anub. Im affliction and people have told me its not that great for affliction, but should i use it anyway over eotbm?
Thanks

Gems
I have talked to several mages as to how to increase my dps and I am kinda of confused. When I talked to one mage he said I should just stack runed cardinal rubies and that is all I should ever put into a gem slot. Another mage I should try to look at what is slotted and try to fill the color with that gem. He said it would gem me the socket bonus. Which is better just to stack spellpower or to try and get the socket bonus?
Also, would you say that the tier 10 4 piece bonus is worth it or is it better to go with other gear? I feel that it is not worth it because the amount of dps the Mirror Images do is not worth it.

The sp bonus is calculated on cast. However if a % buff or debuff intervenes, it's applied immediately (on the next tick).

Yes. I'm not going to plug it into simulators for you, but just a quick glance would indicate the normal-mode reign is better. 125sp+83crit vs 150sp+proc. Also considering that every BIS gear list from T9 had double reign as the warlock trinkets, I'm going to assume that this holds true.

This applies to *everything*. However, it's all about timing.

EVERYTHING HUH?!
Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had some good heroic putricide information, 10 or 25 man. He's probably one of the harder encounters in ICC and I haven't seen any discussion on him yet.

hey everyone, I'm just curious as a fury warrior which weapon would be better to use between the wrathful 277 axe or shadows edge in main hand slot.
Also wondering between the 277 cryptmaker and shadows edge which one would be MH and which would be offhand?

I have a question I'd like to ask. With the changes to IT and icy taloons, I have been thinking if a frost sub-spec will be an improvement from a sub-unholy.
Why do I ask? Well, according to the 3.3.3, we will want to IT as much as possible and the 40% haste (in raid 20% personal +20% WFT) from icy taloons can't simply be ignored.
The build could be : http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?deat...2s1ymPw,,11623
Pros:
Icy Taloons , this would benefict us 2hander's a lot , with just 36% I see it already dropping 1 second on atack speed ( weapon speed 3.60>2.63) this would mean a more effective use of proc's (SoB is not being used with runestrike and I also see it reaching 3 charges with 2 points , I think it's a bug) as well probably an increase on runestrike since the rate of wasted/runestrikes per doge/parry would go down.
15 sec diseases , this means we will have to IT more , further taking more advantage from it.
Cons:
Low AoE , this build has poor AoE capacity by dropping morbidity
15 sec diseases , also means less HS and DS , since these are turned into IT and PS
Would it be an improvement? I don't have the maths to back this up but i realy would like to see some if it isn't asking too much.

Spellhit does not have the same rating values as meleehit. I guess your sources are mistaking.
You can see we are still a good deal away from capping our white attacks. To cap our spells we only need 368 rating, but having more hit above still helps our white attacks, and also it helps avoiding the crit cap.
You can find a good post about the critcap/crit depression here, made by Bestspike.
In this case the 501 rating in the original BiS list is equal to 15,28% hit chance, making the critcapformula: 100-24-(27-6-15,28) = 70,28% (71,28% Draenei)
I hope this anwsers your questions.

I see.....my sources were apparently way off....either there's a faulty thread on these forums, or in my drowsiness I misread it or it's out of date and I didn't notice. At any rate, thanks for the clarification.

First of all as said many times, we don't want to "do as many ITs as possible" as it would result in a great dps loss. Also you only get 16% haste from that talent build (unholy subspecc also gets the 20% windfury haste anyway).
Also not having hysteria is never a good thing imo.
If one feels they need more threat, then they can always IT spam regardless of specc. So you should always focus on either having the most mitigation heavy build, or on a max dps build without a substantial loss in mitigation (or avoidance for that matter).

Hopefully I am posting this in the correct thread....
Hrm....I was awarded the Mag'hri Chieftan Staff recently (non-heroic)...and rawr says I am better off in keeping the Abracadaver.....(arcane spec, I've tweaked my spec some due to the fact I have so much hit...currently 328).
So in stating that...should I just hold on to the staff and hope for better gear or tweak the spec more. I don't think I can get any other gear from lower spire or plagueworks (first two bosses as we are still working on the prof for 10 and Fester for 25)...any help would be appreciated...
Thanks.

What is wrong with my DPS
So i have a lvl 80 Lock in ICC/ToTCr gear but i'm not happy with my DPS on her. The Damage out put is iffy. My guildies have been helping me out on her and told me that my gear is fine and that i don't have a gear issue. they totally don't know why i'm not pumping more DPS than i am.
So my question is there any other thing that i can do to fix my DPS problem and put out more Damage?
My Locks name is Holywalt. So any advice would be much appreciated and i'm open for any suggestions you guys may have Thank.

Stacking haste to soft haste cap?
I've been playing as a reso shaman for quite awhile now during wrath of the lich king and I'm enjoying it more and more each raid. As a build I'm using the haste build all-out, and at the moment I got around 34% haste.
So I'm just wondering if It's a positive thing to try and build up your haste to reach the soft haste cap (1264 hasterating)
and use everything as haste in replacement of mp5, and even crit.
As I'm at 34% I'm standing in the dilemma of "start stacking sp, and maybe switch some haste gems into sp ones to increase your sp pool, and maybe start decrease the haste down to 1036 and stay there". How important is the soft haste cap barrier, and is it worth to reach it before stacking sp?
As a personal opinion I find haste to be a real control-mechanic for healing raids. You can control who/when and what to heal much more easier when you can output your heals in a faster pase, and also have an oppurtunity to heal up your targets faster.
But should I always stand at the haste prio, or should I even stack haste AFTER the soft haste cap?
I don't know if a balance of a haste value and a sp boost value will incr my HEP, or just stack haste all the way.
So how important is the soft-haste cap, and is it possitive to stack haste even after the soft cap, or will I benefit from stacking spellpower once I'm caped?
