Since you can only swap weapons while in combat, I am not sure how that will work.
If you plan to swap a shield on, keep in mind that it will trigger a GCD, and you would be really lucky to have a GCD spare just before the calculation is made.

Alright guys, I need some of your awesome advice, I'm currently rocking some pretty sweet gear (The World of Warcraft Armory) and I'm still pulling under par dps (5.9k avg) for what i believe i could be pulling with my gear. I'm 17/0/54 and I'm using the PS->IT->BSx2->SSx4 with RD in between the SS's. Any advice you guys can give me? gear? rotation? spec? anything at all? any and all advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

1. Review some of your gems, i'm seeing str + hit gems when you're already waaay over the hitcap

2. Drop the grim toll trinket, its beyond awful for an unholy DK

3. Sigil of Awareness would help

4. I don't see how you think 5.9k dps is in any way bad dps... I'm not sure what you think good dk dps is, but unless you think those 1.5 minute patchwerk kills with 7k dps are standard numbers you're horribly wrong.

i thought that hit cap for unholy DK's was 302? Am i incorrect? and the only reason im using Grim toll is b/c the fact that it gives me + 84 hit rating and allows me to gem out of +hit rating gems and into + str gems. FYI with my Betrayer im 18 expertise which i believe is the exact cap.

Melee hit cap is 263, spell hit cap is 289 assuming 3/3 virulence. Basically you're best off hitting the melee hit cap (263) and gemming pure strength from then on in.

If you want to see some dps improvement regem your gear and pick up better trinkets as soon as you can (greatness is an amazing dps increase and you can farm the materials for it outside of raids barring that mirror of truth is easy as heck to pick up and better than your current trinkets).

All of that having been said 5.9k on non gimmick fights is very good dps.

WoW i didn't know whtat 263 was the cap... I am way over =/ o well i can fix that. However, i terms of the trinkets, what one (other than greatness which i am currently working for) would you guys recommend? Fury of 5? Mirror? or any others?

The soft cap for a 2h DK is 8% hit, which is 262.

If you really want to maximize your DPS, drop the alchemy for Jewelcrafting. The ability to use prismatic gems to satisfy socket and meta requirements is amazing, and only requires 375 JC. You'd get an extra 33 Strength from the three Prismatics, plus you'd pick up another 16 strength (head, shoulders, belt) from socket bonuses, AND you could replace that Relentless Earthsiege Meta with a Chaotic Skyflare (which is far better for you).

I am specing arms in 3.1 and as such with the new changes to armor penetration,stacking it will be a trend in arms.

I am replacing MoT with greatness,I am wondering whether to take the +90 Agility or +90 Strength version,
The obvious answer would be +90 Strength but as Ulduar gear has proven,stacking ArP will lower crit by a large margin.

My other question is whether there are any more BiS items I should aim for?
I have Legplates of Double Strikes waiting for 3.1.I am going to get Melancholy sabatons,Surge needle ring,Hopefully Favour of the dragonqueen and Envoy of mortality.
I believe there are still items however that could boost my raid performance?

And what about Firestone and Spellstone? Does the tool consider that? Even if the tool considers everything in the talents, it still has to make Fire/Spellstone on the weapon.

I recently switched to a 21/50 build and have been working on some rotations that were recommended to me by another guild DK.
I know that my gear is absolutely terrible but I've been told in a few raids that I'm still not performing up to my potential. For 25-man OS I averaged 2k dps, while I was told even with my gear I should be closer to 3k. I'm always in blood stance.

My rotation for multiple pulls is as follow:
IT - PS - Pest - HB - FS(until I've drained my runic power)

My rotation for single mobs and bosses is:
IT - PS - BS - BS - OB - FS(until I've drained my runic power)

Could you please suggest where I might be losing so much dps? I was pretty surprised when I was told 2k dps wasn't acceptable for a DK with my build and gear. Thanks in advance!

Strength is still the number 1 stat for arms. If I remember correctly crit is still better than armor pen up to 50% buffed crit then armor pen wins out.

Simple answer, take the strength card it will be much much better than the agility one. Considering they want arms to be going with plate gear aswell there may be changes to the tree yet to come to increase strength value more than 4% covered by Strength of Arms.

Yes they consider both of those. What you're looking at is purely the stats from gear.

You run around with green items and you wonder why you do low dps? Are you serious? Isn't that quite obvious?
Get some epics and read the threads here. The first page contains everything you need.
Why am I so sure, that you won't follow that advice?

That attitude is a little much don't you think? If you'd read my post you would've noticed that I am fully aware that my gear is quite bad. I only started questioning my own gear to DPS ratio when a few other players had told me that even with my CURRENT gear I should be doing more DPS. I have read up on rotations and specs but haven't seen pertinent information on what an acceptable DPS for someone with gear like mine should be. It should be fairly obvious that I would like to make sure I'm not forming bad habits in my rotations or leaving any integral aspects out during the process of 'getting some epics' and 'reading some threads here'.

Now... why am I so sure you'll take a less than constructive stance on my issue should you decide to post again?

Good evening all.I tried using the search function but couldnt get any results of value on the following subject:Will arms or fury be better in 3.1?From what I have seen,looks like arms will take a lead with the current gear but once we can get enough of the ulduar gear(more value on str than ap which is needed for better scaling with the 20% of imp berserker stance) could possibly pull off ahead.Can someone clarify this please(any values to boost the claim would be much valued)Thanks in advance for your help.
