so look im searched a little as the first post said to do and i didnt find much and i know this question has been contraversial over many levels but i have to ask it so bear with me here. What is the best dps spec for raids? BM is wonderful unless ur pet dies then you lose half your shit and i mean cmon....it doesnt live that long. MM is the best dps i've seen but the problem is you go oom in 10 seconds flat. Surv is great for making your opponent easier to kill and racking so much agi that your crit chance is off the charts, and cmon the traps rape.....dont even get me started on wvrens sting....but which one is the best. I think that if you could do it right a surv/mm/bm combo would be perfect. but it would be hard. like maybe a 7/12/42 spec (bm/mm/surv) but i want some oppinions before i go and do it....

Hello.
A little disapointed with the new elemetal tree, so i think about this build at lvl 80 :
43/28/0 : War Pirate :: Shaman WotLK Alpha Talent Tree
We loose 5 % critic and 3 % hit but i think we earn about 200+ spell dmg at lvl 80.
What do you think ?

Let me get this straight - we just spent what? 13 pages discussing the impact of such a build and now along comes polly, asking what we think? Oh teh nerve!

This dropped last night.
[Pattern: Embrace of the Phoenix]
I'm surprised that no one has ever mentioned this chest for Survival/Haste. It's looks like a pure upgrade vs. T6 as long as you have 4 other T6 pieces.
It does require Leatherworking.

Guys, you are all wrong on Nozdormu, obviously
|
He sees that Blizzard will put him as a raidzone boss due to Blizzards law of everythings insanity unless he prevents the creation of wow, and as we all know wow would not have been made unless wc3 were a huge success, and by destroying these missions played in wc3 he would ruin the campaign and create a lot of dissatisfied customers.
But since we constalty twart his tries to disrupt the warcraft timeline Blizzard will after a while put him as a raidboss and we will get timeless loot, and as such we can be sure that he do not succed in his tries to stop his own demise.

Sorry I read only up to page three because thirteen are... too many... :P
I am replying to the "essential rogue" and "buffing other classes"... the question is this: is Rupture considered a bleeding effect for what concerns the other classes abilities that work on "bleeding targets"? Especially but not limited to Feral Druids (I mean: our Rupture cycles can add trigger events to those abilities that procc on Bleeding Targets).

Whats currently the best raid DPS spec for hunters?
I keep hearing that BM is the best, and while I agree that BM hunters do great burst damage, and have great sustained damage with their pets in the fray, for fights like Illidan when the pets can rarely go in, I wonder how effective they are.
I have a friend thats marksman, and has been for ages, and frequently gets top damage in the raids he goes on. Granted, he has no 25 man experience, but hes done all of karazhan and most of ZA.
According to the theorycraft, whats the best spec right now?
Thoughts?

What i have to criticise regarding the trees is the TOTAL LACK of inspiring new abilities. a new bolt, a new ae, a new shield. more crit damage, more crits. Its simply absolutely uninteresting to see mages trees when you compare it to the wtfpwn warlock talents.

Arcane Subtlety... Useful????
I have speced with arcane subtlety and with out it. I see no real benefit in PVE. Can someone lead me in the right direction. As far as I can tell it is just a PVP talent.
I know some will say the 40% reduction in threat is well worth the talent. As fire spec this only comes into play if you are AE. I have yet to pull aggro from a pally tank with AE without arcane subtlety.
Just fishing for answers....

Everyone needs to figure this out and decide for themselves. Even if arcane shot does more damage it does it at a premium, higher mana cost and another cooldown to juggle. Some specs require the extra cooldown to fill GCDs, some do not.

WF better than Rockbiter?
Why all thinks that WF is better than rock?
basics:
WF:
Each hit has a 20% chance of dealing damage equal to 2 extra attacks with 475 extra attack power
note: Those 2 extra hit have same stats than normal hits so they use same hit % than normal strikes...
note2: u can turn that 475 AP to DPS (475/14=)33,9
Rockbiter:
Increases weapons damage per second by 74
note: when u, hit u will hit
for example i take Syphon of the Nathrezim one of most suitable weapons in game to WF (Right?)
Syphon of the Nathrezim:
Speed 2.80
196 - 365 Damage
(100.2 damage per second)
(Avarage damage 100.2*2,8=280,56)
WF:
hit | basic | 1.extra | 2.extra | =total | =total dps
crit,crit & crit | 280,56*2=561,12 | ((100,2+33,9)*2,8=375,48*2=750,98 | 750,98 | 2063,08 | /2,8= 736,8
crit,crit & norm | 561,12 | 750,98 | 375,48 | 1687,58 | /2,8=602,7
crit,norm & norm | 561,12 | 375,48 | 375,48 | 1312,08 | /2,8= 468,6
norm, norm & norm | 280,56 | 375,48 | 375,48 | 1031,52 | /2,8= 368,4
Note: Kinda nice dps? lets go back to reality WF works only 20% from hits.
|
Weapon Speeds play an important role in maximizing DPS from Windfury procs. The goal is to chain WF procs every 3 seconds, as soon as each cooldown ends. Both the OH and the MH need to be as slow as possible to achieve this(they do not need to be matched in speed, just as slow as you can get it). The idea is to reduce the number of swings made during the time that windfury is on cooldown. Since the cooldown is 3 seconds, weapons speeds are preferred to be close to that speed, generally this means 2.6 - 2.8 under current itemization. The idea is that a faster weapon would proc a WF, and then strike again within the cooldown window, which means that windfury would exit cooldown and your weapon would still be on some significant portion of its swing timer, unable to proc another WF.
|
And it uses same hit % than u got (28%-9%(talents)-5.6%(avarage gear ~ 88 Hit rate/15,77=5.6%)=13,4% miss) <--- Them r NOT special attacks they r just regular attacks so they use ur hit!
note2: 28% miss = DW melee
3xcrit +4 normal hits= avarage 3xcrit*miss%
(736,8+100,2*4)/5=227,52 (miss 736,8*0,134=98,7) 227,52-98,7=128,82
2*crit+1normal +4 normal hits= avarage
(602,7+100,2*4)/5=200,7 (miss 602,7*0,134=80,8) 200,7-80,8=119,9
1*crit+2normal +4 normal hits = avarage
(468,6+100,2*4)/5=173,9 (miss 468,6*0,134=62,8) 173,9-62,8=111,1
3*normal + 4 normal hits = avarage
(368,4+100,2*4)/5=153,84 (miss 368,4*0,134=49,3) 153,84-49,3=104,54
note: there is no still block or dodge included
how about rockbiter?
100,2+74=174,2 DPS *2,8= 487,76 damage avarage
crit?
174,2*2= 348,4DPS *2,8= 975,52 damage avarage
note: not so flashy as WF crits but 100% succes on normal hits makes it stable
PS: if u think i miss something just type it here
PSPS: in pvp miss (When a player or mob attacks a player, the base miss rate is 5%) then ur 9% from talents is enfu to make 100% hit so WF is better there

1) u were right now it is 200% in calculations
2) no them r not specials, just regular swings so they use ur hit%
3) if shaman got same amount AP = DPS it is same to rockbiter and WF it dosent mater... but i make examples to u.
WF shaman got 1700AP + that weapon
1700/14+100,2=221,6 *2,8= 620,48 <--- basic weapon damage
1700/14+100,2+33,9=255,5 *2,8= 715,4 <--- basic WF extra strike
norm, norm & norm | 620,48 | 715,4 | 715,4 | 2051,28 | /2,8= 732,6
3*normal + 4 normal hits = avarage <--- makes that 20% proc and after it takes that 13.4% miss rate off from procs
(732,6+221,6*4)/5=323,8 (miss 732,6*0,134=98,2) 323,8-98,2=225,6
rockbiter normal
1700/14+100,2+74=295,6
see... both of them get same buff from same AP
and one thing if there is 3sec cd in WF u should look after resonance multipiers like 6,3,1.5 or 1.... to get it strike right after another proc.
whit ur 2.6speed weapon + flurry 30% = 1,82speed <-- second strike will be 3,64 so it is late 0,64
2,8speed + flurry 30% = 1,96speed <-- second strike will be 3,92 so it is 0,92 late
2,1speed weapon is too early 1.47.... so perfect speed is about 2.2 (+flurry 30% 1,54 so second strike will be nearly ideal 3.08)
Every 15.7 Points of Haste rating you will have 1% more Attack Speed at level 70 <--- so u can tweek it to slower weapons too
i calculated some test and to get 2,6--> 1,5 whit flurry u need additional 12,5% (196,25 haste rate)
it is not impossible but needs gear alot

Hi Manly, I was wondering your and other mages opinions on 0/40/21 spec Vs. the normal 2/48/11 for SW max dps, more specifically maxing out damage on Brut.
I play a Mage in a well progressed guild, we are currently close to downing KJ in Sunwell. I am currently using 0/40/21 as my main spec.
0/40/21, you lose 1% crit, plus 1 master of elements talent. However, you gain an extra icy veins + double ice block
Would this be possible to out perform 2/48/11 on Brut?
From my experience it does. Though with this spec it's possible for mana to be an issue on Brut, you just don't want to be using meta gems + mana pots over flameaps + destros'
9/10 times we also use a very well geared elemental shaman, which has no mana tide.
