Hi Manly, I was wondering your and other mages opinions on 0/40/21 spec Vs. the normal 2/48/11 for SW max dps, more specifically maxing out damage on Brut.

I play a Mage in a well progressed guild, we are currently close to downing KJ in Sunwell. I am currently using 0/40/21 as my main spec.

0/40/21, you lose 1% crit, plus 1 master of elements talent. However, you gain an extra icy veins + double ice block

Would this be possible to out perform 2/48/11 on Brut?

From my experience it does. Though with this spec it's possible for mana to be an issue on Brut, you just don't want to be using meta gems + mana pots over flameaps + destros'

9/10 times we also use a very well geared elemental shaman, which has no mana tide.

You cant use the crafted items after droping BS and spending that huge amout of gold when you will end upp not suing the items anyway don't soon uphealing to me.

Edit, s4 gloves are realy impressive (sorry for no link) and easy to get even at kara lvl since they don't need rating.

TBQH, I am shocked at the turn this thread has taken. It has turned into a cesspool of a pathetic display of ball size by the vast majority of you.

You are all placing way WAY to much importance in your 'theorycraft'. You are so obsessed with pushing your own agendas that you have forgotten where you are. And then, to top it all off, some dude pulls a completely random statement out of his arse with no proof whatsoever (the statement being, "Oh blizzard doesn't do any thoerycraft they just throw sh!t together and see what happens") and since that statement works towards your own personal goals you all eat it up and begin stroking each others cocks.
The "oh players know more about the game then the designers" is just a big phat icing on this already sour cake.

How do you feel you can all make such immensely bold statements about how much you know vs. how much the blizzard devs know about the game without providing or even attempting to provide any proof?

And 'time'? You honestly believe blizzard does not have the 'time' for theorycrafting? They hire people whose job it is to do nothing but TC all day long, and those dudes get paid for it (and there is proof for that statement, the proof being that Kalgan has already stated that they hired a guy with a PhD in competitive systems to do nothing but 'balance' the arena systems point scoring scheme, you honestly think they would hire a guy to do nothing but look and analyze and 'theorycraft' something as small as the arena point system, but have no one looking at the class numbers? Ignorance).
But no, I can already see the rage in your eyes building up as you are reading my words now, naturally, as you epeen size is beginning to shrink. So listen up.

Every system is flawed. This is a mathematically proven fact, not a statement (go google Godel if you want proof). Given this fact, yes, there will be elements of the wow class system that will be overlooked since it is such a fringe possibility. All outcomes will never be fully determined (and therefore, handled) at the creation of a system. Now go ahead and add the complexity to this by the fact that the system itself mutates at every iteration and you will then begin to see what you are dealing with.

However the biggest oversight almost all you have missed is that you are all content with raids. raids raids raids raids raids. You eat, sleep and fart raids. But the point is, blizzard does not (*shocker*). To them, the 'theorycrafting' of the mage has to occur on mutiple levels, pve, pvp, arena, solo, grps, heroics, farming, as well as multiple dimensions, i.e. the weighing up of all these levels against all other classes and specs.

No, the 'theorycrafting' you do is simple, it is easy and I hope to high heavens that it is not the TC that blizzard does since yours is so unthinkably limited.

And as far as the players knowing more about the game than the devs goes, it is probably one of the most retarded things I have heard here on EJ. Something much much more akin to the kak that occurs on the official forums.

The only situation that a player can even hope to achieve insight into the game on a level comparable to the devs is when they have mastered every single class in every single scenario/situation that the game has to offer. Only then can they say that their "experience" has granted them to start designing stuff. All their experience is good for before that point, is feedback to the people who are designing the game. Linus' law my ass, Torvalds was as high on himself as you guys are when he made his statement a "law".

Last season I transfered servers 2 weeks b4 the end of the season and started a 4 dps team and we almost got glad. I socket 11 healing 2 mp5, 11 healing 5 int and since i raid some 2 i socket my chest for 3 22 healing gems. You probably shouldn't stack spell haste until u have 2.1 or 2.2k+ healing. The vial of the sunwell is an amazing gem especially for a 4 dps bc its a quick save if say u get cc'd as soon as u come out u can just pop that and that will give u a few seconds to recover. So ya if i were u I'd just get healing,mp5, and int. You can use pve gear because in a 4 dps if they focus u ur team will win. Hope this helps

My guild entered phase 2 last night and got to 40%. We went from wiping at around 60% in phase 1 to this after dropping a healer (down to five) and adding another Shadow Priest. I feel like the kill was finally within our grasp, but it remains to be seen how this nerf is going to affect it. All I know is that I'll be pretty emo if the 4/6 Horde guild on our server gets the first kill just because they raid Sunwell exclusively (they've reached 3% phase 1 AFAIK).

I am currently raiding ssc,tk,hyjal, Have gotten all the badge gear and use the arrows from kara. I generally float around 1k dps as mm spec. I always outdamage the other hunters in the guild even though they are BM and out dps me generally until there little kitty dies I still feel I should be doing much more dps just based on my gear an I am wondering if I am doing somehting wrong. I use a basic 1:1 rotation and weave in arcane, multi whenever they are up. This is my armory link" The World of Warcraft Armory " I think it may have my pvp spec there and if so I apologise and will fix it asap. Any way though you can see all my pve gear. I have socketd for pure agility and am close to max hit. I know there are some one handers I could get that would help me but I am kinda wondering if there is anything I could do with the current gear I have"re-gem-enchant" to get a dps boost or am I maxed in my current spec with current gear. I am not a fan of bm spec at all and there is already another bm hunter in guild, I could go for survival but I dont think I have the agility for it just yet. Any way enough with my ramble, any thing you see I could do with current spec, gear that I could up my dps with. Oh and for some reason my wow web stats never logs right . Thank you for taking the time to read my post and I look forward to any information you can give me. im an ele shamman in a 2v2 and a 3v3 team, i find it extremely hard to do arena do either of you have tips for me. having same prob running oom also just not outputting enough dps to be valuable
