This is a quick question for the DK tanking community:
Are you planning on dual specing into a dps role - or are you going to effectively pick two tank trees (I am leaning towards a Deep Blood / Deep Unholy) so you can spec most appropriately for each encounter? My thoughts involve Deep Unholy for AOE / Magic mitigation - Deep Blood for EH and single target TPS.
What are your thoughts as to the best *two* tanking trees?
At the moment I am planning to keep my standard Frost tanking spec as my primary spec choice and my Sarth+3 spec as the secondary since I assume we'll still be doing that every week for months at least.
I've been considering consolidating these into a Blood tankng spec (as it could handle normal and Sarth+3 tanking) and some DPS spec but honestly, you'll always need at least one tank on any given fight so as long as the other tanks pick Tank/DPS roles you can get away with a Tank/Tank.
Considering the large, as of yet unknown, changes to trees that are coming this thread may be a bit too early for speculation, too.
I'm not sure it's worth its own thread, but I'm probably going tank/tank and let one of our warrior go tank/dps instead. The main reason is trash tanking is better done with an AE spec, and boss tanking with well, a boss spec, and since we don't have a protadin for trash, I'll probably just do it.
The specs would be a ~50/8/~10 blood spec for MT tanking, with as many cool stuff in blood I can, with Death Strike/VB/not sure what yet glyphs, and for AE tanking a basic frost spec with morbidity. I think frost is better at AE tanking than unholy in 3.1 mostly because UA is a godly AE tanking cooldown, while bone shield is crap for AE tanking. Glyphs would be UA, Howling Blast and something else I'm not sure of, maybe DnD. Unholy looks like a very specific boss tanking spec to me, it's really good for heavy magic dmg bosses, but not that good for the rest anymore(it's not bad either though).
