I'm going to move towards a completely new outlook for this thread, which I think will be the better approach for the future. If the point of this thread is to help out people of varying skill levels, we need to make a lot more distinction between people posting numbers.

For example, I've recently changed guilds and *intuitively* noticed that better guilds attempt more hard modes. However, most fights done in hard mode severely alter the nature of the fight, and in most cases lowers people's dps (XT, Hodir, Vezax?, Yogg come to mind). With that said, the people on WMO scoreboards (myself included) are actually only the best people in average guilds, which isn't saying a lot. Someone who does 10k dps on XT where the heart is up 80% of the fight cannot even be compared to someone who does 6-7k on hardmode XT. Currently, there is no distinguishing between the two however, and it seems like these average players are getting more recognition than members of hard mode attempting guilds.

My solution: distinguish between hard modes and not. Maybe it's just me not looking but there doesn't seem to be many places where there are seperate lists for hard mode kills and normal kills. By doing this, players will be able to come onto the site, compare their own guilds progression level to a specific list, and then compare their stats with people doing the exact same thing. On another level, people in guilds who are attempting hard mode content will be able to get something out of coming on to the site and looking at people who are doing the same thing as them, as opposed to now.

I totally agree with the above poster. I can crush anyone in my guild on non-hardmode content but when you do non-hardmode content in a hard-mode farming guild, you really don't care about these fights. As a member of a hard-mode guild (currently 11th in the us 28th in the world) you really only try to maximize dps on hardmodes. To be honest i think the true test of dps is going to be 0 keeper yogg saron as far as a benchmark of DPS goes. XT is a joke as far as dps goes, why would you want to rate people on a fight where you can chain heart phases? (my guild can) that means guilds with better dps can have a heart up 100% of the time, minus the few seconds your making up the extra 1% you left on the heart before killing it. Also the XT fight has alot of RNG components (grav/light bomb and popping defensive cooldowns for tantrum) and DPS really doesnt have to be balls to the wall, let me reiterate THIS FIGHT IS A JOKE. Again like i said Yogg = max dps or you lose, therefore everyone in the raid is pushing it to the limit and it would be a more accurate measure of DPS, in my opinion.

If anyone is interested, my characters name is spacejam now (formerly hïmself) and heres a link to my guild WWS so you can see how a dk measures up ON hard mode content, which inevitably is all that matters. The other dk in my guild is frost to, so that might help you decide on which spec you like better for what fight.

WWS---->Wow Web Stats

Also for people who have questions, im going to try to check my messages more often.

Yogg again is not a great measure of DPS as a lot depends on how quickly you gain access to the brain (some slow people in your melee team could mean insufficient time on the brain).

Vezax could be a good measure, however, things can get distorted by an Unholy standing in a shadow crash (yes this happened to me and my DPS went insane).

At the moment, I am running both blood 51/0/20 and Unholy 0/10/61 and switching between them depending on which is best for a particular boss fight (and also whether we are stacking more melee or casters).
