Short of turning all the sounds off there seems to be no 'in-game' way to do this. Personally I enjoy listening to my own shit on winamp and keep the spell sounds on. I like hearing when rogues stealth or some mage starts casting polymorph behind me. Unfortunately it seems that the music at the end of a BG doesn't count as "music" so I can't just untick that box in my sound options.

I started digging though the 7000+ sounds contained within the compressed .mpq files in my wow folder. Everything seems to be sorted out pretty meticulously except for those 2 damned victory sounds. Has anyone ever removed these sounds before? I would appreciate any help in finding these files.

Yeah... I know this is against the eula and I don't really care... I just want to listen to my own music without having that crap blow through my speakers every 5-20 minutes.

Couldn't something like this be done with a mod?

Just figured it out actually. The sound files were located in the 2gb patch.mpq file rather then in sound or speech. They were pretty easy to find once I opened that one. Would have been cimpler if they had been in the sound archives though.

Battlegrounds weren't in the retail package so makes sense there in the patch.mpq.
