So... You're breaking the NDA? :P

Jeht 10/06/06 2:29 PM

I don't really understand what a lot of this means. From the other thread, it sounds like we're losing-

Decursive. Opinion: boo and yay. I find Decursive indespensible, but that's not really a good thing. It's as close to cheating as the old "interrupt healing if targets HP is above X" add ons, and I was glad to see them go. I shall adjust.

Emergency monitor. Opinion: haven't used it in months. A tool for the lazy.

MA/MTTT Windows. Opinion: I don't really understand the point of taking these away. Especially since they built a MTTT feature into the basic UI.

Is the sky falling?

I'd say that this is along the same lines as many other changes; we haven't seen the encounters yet, so commentary is largely fruitless. Does it matter if, for example, decursive goes away, as long as there are no ridiculous curse-focused fights? For that matter, is it possible that the default UI will be improved and make the mods broken by these changes obsolete anyhow (history can provide many examples)?

If Cladhaire, Iriel, Gello/Maldavia, Glaumene, et al., start screaming, then it will be time to worry.

Are they completely clueless? About the only thing that makes the game playable at 400+ms latency is FastCast and its versatile relative/predecessor, /script SpellStopCasting();/cast .... Without that functionality, I'm basically crippled whether dpsing or farming. FastCast alone accounted for a 10% jump in my dps compared to the bad old days of squinting at the cast bar and activating the SpellStopCasting();/cast macros I've been using since June 2005. Now, I won't even be able to use the macros, which is insane.

They also may not complete a trade transaction.

I'm going to go cry in a corner now. Away from all the casters who are constantly trading with me during the raid beause I have a mod that makes my life easy.

Exewut 10/06/06 2:36 PM

Hmm the loss of decursive would be very annoying to me. Decursive is the tool that makes those horrible decurse encounters bearable. have you ever tried chromagus or the trash up to huhu withouth a decursive mod? I did, and believe me, it's a major pain.
The problem is not decursive, the problem is the encounter desing. If chromagus look alikes go away, then I won't really miss decursive

As such, addons and macros will no longer be capable of casting spells or targeting units.
What else are you going to use a macro for?

Mist 10/06/06 2:37 PM

Doesn't this also force you to ONLY use the Blizzard party/target/raid frames? The really ugly, stupid ones?

Belenos 10/06/06 2:43 PM

I have a hard time believing this to be true. This would break so many mods, and nearly everyone's macros.

This would break even simply clicking on someone in CTMod to target them.

This would completely remove clickcasting from the game.

I'm may be overly optomistic but they do say "macro scripts" and not just "macros" (I think). If that's the case then basically all the /script commands we used to target and cast won't work. But /target and /cast should still work.

According to the Slouken/Iriel thread in the UI forums, they even put in some new slash commands for targetting so I'm pretty sure that non-script targetting in Macros will still be allowed.

The question is can a script call a macro?

heel 10/06/06 2:47 PM

Eliminating decursive makes a lot of sense. Eliminating macros for Nature's Swiftness + Healing Touch and the like makes considerably less sense. Eliminating fastcast is just plain stupid, and if these changes have to be made, Blizzard should just incorporate it into the UI.

Cryect 10/06/06 2:52 PM

Slouken seems to be ignoring this topic and deleting threads relating to the issue while he keeps on posting information on expansion LUA changes.

Really this would be a really major change in comparison to stuff like changing from 5.0 to 5.1.

Praetorian 10/06/06 2:58 PM

No, this is not the place to recopy things allegedly posted on the Alpha forums.
