I just thought I should link the retail BC torrent on pirate bay, this will make things much easier for some, especially for people who live in places like Romania/South Africa

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as convenient as this may be for people in those countries, this is pretty illegal I believe? I also don't believe that is smiled upon here if so.

It might be illegal, but thanks anyway.

My friends who are having the xpack mailed to them, and the cd-key emailed to them, will be very grateful for such a torrent if the beta client suddenly stops working on the 16th.

Torrent isn't much use without a key, but I don't know blizzard's official stance.

This is one of the few cases where a torrent file of this manner is relatively harmless since it does no good without the key to upgrade your account.

I see no harm in posting this as you still need to buy the game. I'm personally buying the TBC key online and this kind of torrent means I can play the game as it launches and not having to wait over 2 months (South African stores :/ ) for it to be released.

True enough.

It's too bad Blizzard didn't support an option to make an online purchase/download of the expansion, including the CD Key. Is there any official statement as to why? I could only assume they wanted to generate the buzz of a highly-anticipated boxed release (hopefully garnering more customers in the process..), but even then, it seems they could do both easily enough.

It's very rare for a game to be available for online purchse with initial release, due to pressure from "brick & mortar" stores. The industry wants you to be in RL stores with RL copies, and so you are.
