Yeah, we usually have 1 paladin in the raid, and consider it lucky if we have two. Typically he'll 15 minute wisdom, and then 5 minute might me. He bitches about it but it isn't hard for him to do.

Assuming a dual wield build with sufficient hit rating, is it still the consensus that for Red sockets you want the Strength gem, for Yellow Str/Crit, and Blue Str/Stamina?

Correct, although its not really "with sufficient hit rating" so much as "always".

Hmm, I thought there was a theoretical cap of 23%, with a global 1% miss rate on mobs. Is this accurate, or is at actually 24%?

It's more like ~27.6%. It's only spells that have the 1% hard cap on miss rate.

Maybe I worded that badly. The intended meaning was "never use +hit gems."

But as he said, with raid buffs and proper group setups, you should be looking at 2k+ AP so no worries!
5 minute buffs, if they complain, explain to them that having fort or motw is of similar importance.

Wishful thinking to be honest.

The druid one is 140 Str,s o they get kings and heart of the whatever its called, 400ish ap that translates to.

In Malan's shaman theorycrafting thread, its posted that the Bloodlust Broach provides the equivalent of +118.3 AP. How close do the Romulo's Poison Vial, Felsteel Boar, and Nightseye Panther trinkets compare to that? I already have the RPV. I'm a JCer so thinking that using one of the JC trinkets instead of the Bloodlust Broach may be more cost effective since its easy to get the mats for them and I can use my heroic badges to buy something else useful.

The vial was a 1% boost to damage from the poison effect, sometimes closer to 2% of my total damage after they beefed it up a little bit (seemed to improve the proc rate). The +hit will give you a bit of mileage if you need it. Overall though unless you are just starting out equipping your enhance shaman, I'd stay away from the Vial if you're over 100 hit rating on top of talents.

The Brooch is one of the best DPS trinkets available given its ease of purchase. I wouldn't skip it.

As i already read some posts into these foruns regarding enhancement shammys, i decided to reply to this thread in the expectation I could add some to it and discuss some points regarding it.

First of all, as a “Hey, I’m new in here!” speech, I just want to tell that I just rerolled my paladin (Was one of the main healers) to this shammy, and I got less than 14 days played with her. I tried to read as much as I could before rerolling, talk with horde shammys and searched for as much info as I could. I basically got sick of healing, and couldn’t stand the boreness of a specific DPS classes, like rogues or mages. I enjoy the most being able to dps while improving my guildmates performance and still being able to heal while grinding or into “oh, shit!” situations into our raids.

Until now, I’m crawling at my raids to get as much upgrade gears as I can, to catch up with rogues, warriors and even our retri pally. As we just hit TK/SSC, my gear is still Karah level and as such, I’m figuring around 09-12 DPS position into our 25-man raids.

First and foremost, this is not intended to a: “Should I use this or that” question, as this would totally run off topic of the forum per se idea. At some point in the middle might seems that it’s going that way, but assure that’s not my point.

Specifically about gear:

Weapons: Best choices, at my opinion, are the Dragonmaw BS craft as MH and the crafted Runic Hammer as OH, at this current level of raid/gear. Arena 1-hand mace/axe is a better option for OH, as It’s nicely slow to use with huge high end damage, but personally I’m still slowly gathering Arena points for it, so that’s why it came latter than the Runic hammer into OH option. The Al’ar axe, me thinks, should be the next available upgrade, as it’s the first boss in sequence raids normally flow too, ain’t it?

Armor: What really troubles me and the main reason I replied is that whenever I check lootzor comparisons and even raw stats and so, all the gear that seems much, much better to me into a DPS alone standpoint, are leather pieces. I really don’t think I should follow leather path, as much of the shammys I check at armory or forums don’t use much leather stuff, but when I scrap the gear I should run after, leather pieces win miles away from mail stuff.
I really don’t have any problem wearing leather stuff, as I’m already rolling on them whenever it’s a decent upgrade for me, but I’m kinda worried a bit with low INT as, although mana is not as good as any other dps stat, I still need a decent mana pool to make my dps cycle while my pot/SR is on CD, isn’t it?

My point is as the OP stated initially, that most of the time he had trouble finding decent mail pieces. I could find mail pieces to every slot to assemble a decent enhance gear, but the problem, to me at least, seems that almost every single gear slot had a better leather option to be used.

I made a compilation what I think would be a round set up of leather/mail gear, trying to maximize the DPS as a total workaround of the stats, like AP, crit, hit and so.

Please check the tables below with different compilations i made:

Mail-like armor selection:

http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...k00/Table1.jpg

Hit intended armor selection:

http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...k00/Table2.jpg

Max AP/Crit with beareble hit:

http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...k00/Table3.jpg

About the gear above into the almost all leather table, I might add that I really think the hit is pretty low as It should be aiming for something close to 180-195 at that gear level, ain’t it?

I see a lot of enhancement shamans wearing our T4 set and T5, but when I compare them to lone pieces, they seem to lack points, not even coming close at some gear parts. Am I missing something? The sets bonuses don’t appear good enough to me to justify their uses.

I checked also that someone marked a level of stats for enhance shammys at Mag level of gear as such as 2200 AP, 25% crit, 22% hit. I didn’t really look to reach these stats, but seems to me kinda unattainable at this stage of gear, at least not without raid buffs. Should the gear be close to that, unbuffed?
As a personal experience, my guild rogues are around that, as most of them are already with TK/SSC first bosses loots, engineering made stuff, BS made stuff and so on. Comments on this too, please.

BS Weapons: Dragonstrike or Wicked Edge of the Planes?

I had a question. I've been following these threads for a while now, and I've seen a bit of comparison of the T3 Blacksmithing weapons (Dragonmaw/strike, Planar series axes) to other weapons, however I have not seen comparisons against each other.

Now, we all know from the results of our research that haste (for the most part) scales very well with our gear. My question is this: With our current gear level model of atp/crit/hit that we've been using, which is better? Dragonstrike or Wicked Edge of the Planes? I can understand if Wicked Edge would be considered better for the passive +atp and +crit stats. The orc racial for +5 Axe skill should also be taken into consideration for the orcs out there (such as myself, heh). What I'm wondering is what point, if any, the haste proc on the mace will make up for these passive boosts, and if that point is past when there will be better weapon upgrades (BT, etc).

The main reason why I'm curious is because I'm next in line for Vortexes, am currently an axesmith, but have no problem changing over to Mace and refarming up to T2 to pick up the mace if it will be a better long-term weapon for me.

Thanks in advance, guys.

As an orc, wicked edge would be nice if you can get your hands on a dragonspine. I can't get one, so I use dragonstrike.

I had a quick question that I couldn't seem to find the answer to by crawling back through 53 pages of thread >.<

I've just switched over to enhancement, so I'm relatively new to all this. My question pertains to using dual mongoose enchants. I'm currently using drakefist hammer and runic hammer OH, both enchanted with potency. Within the month I plan to upgrade to Dragonmaw and a 2.6 gladiator weapon, and was originally planning on going the dual mongoose route.

However, currently, with flurry up (as is usually the case), when the mace haste effect procs my weapon speeds drop down to ~1.7 mh and 1.54 oh. I've found a lot of information about the gap when weapon speed falls into the 1.5 - 1.4 range which makes me wonder, if you have dual mongoose enchants, will a single mongoose proc push this into a range where you experience dps loss?

I realize that all the effects will seldom be up at the same time, but is it enough that one would notice a decrease in overall dps?

Keep in mind 2 things -
1) That DPS drop range is theory. Nobody has enough passive haste to permanently keep their weapons in that range so that we could test it.
2) The proc effects you're describing are going to happen simultaneously infrequently.

That isn't entirely true, the weapon procs alot, it easily has a 50%+ uptime and flurry for me atleast is hardly ever off. In addition 10% passive haste makes my weapon speed frequently below 1.5.

Wouldnt it be possible to test it by wearing 2 already fast Weapons which get ~1.55 speed when flurried, haste them to 1.49 and then compare the dmg with the non-hasted one?

14 (Crit) + 10/1.43 (Hit) + (200*15)/120 (Haste)= A whopping 45 AEP. Get rid of it.

I use it because i pop it up along with Shamanistic Rage (same CD), so it kinda boosts my mana regen overall. It's not just few seconds of extra haste, but also a good increase in mana income.

So you're reducing your damage output to get extra mana regen? If you replaced the haste with more AP you'd be getting more mana back per hit anyways.

Edit - just realized that I did that calc slightly wrong although it results in the KotS being even worse than what I valued it as - the haste rating from the On Use effect needs to be multiplied by 0.9 for its AEP conversion.

So its really 14 (Crit) + 10/1.43 (Hit) + 0.9(200*15)/120 (Haste)= 43.49 AEP

Seeking a bit of help...

Greetings! I've been lurking for a while and just now decided to come out of the woodwork and post.

I'm looking for a bit of help. My guild (a relatively small guild on an RP server) has recently started a second Karazhan team, and needed some melee dps. Thus, I switched from Resto back to Enhancement, which I haven't played since 64. So I've been working on gearing myself, having already collected a few random Kara epics, but I just feel like I could be doing a lot better. I've been going through this thread but honestly I don't have much of a head for numbers, so I thought I'd just ask.

Here is my armory profile, logged out in my raid gear: The Armory

Can anyone suggest to me what gear I should be chasing down right now? Heroic gear is definitely possible. Currently I have 3 pieces of desolation gear (missing the greaves and hauberk). Would it be worthwhile to swap out for the 4 piece set bonus? I know I'll also need to start farming heroic Mana Tombs for that Totem.

I am currently farming mats to have the Thick Netherscale Breastplate made, and then I'll start working for the Cobrascale Hood. Does this seem like a good idea?

Really the only gear I feel very confident in right now are my weapons. Runic Hammer MH, Fel Edged Battleaxe OH should work fairly well until I get Fool's Bane or Decapitator.

I apologize for rambling a bit, it's just that I feel a little overwhelmed with all the possible gear combinations. Any help you folks can provide would be greatly appreciated.

@Ahzriin The 4 piece set bonus of desolation is good, and looking at your current legs wouldn't be much of a loss to switch them.

I notice you have no leather gear, is this by design or not had the opportunity to pick any up?

There is a ton of great pieces of leather in kara which would improve your gear, I would suggest getting anything leather or mail that is an upgrade. Other than that its just going to take time.

Oh and heroics aswell, plenty of gear in those, just wowhead mail and/or leather gear with hit, ap, crit or str.

Stigmata - Thanks for the advice! The lack of leather gear is mostly due to lack of opportunity. Plenty of leather dropped in Kara but we were gearing our rogues up, and I don't like to roll over rogues for leather that is a huge upgrade for them. I'm definitely keeping my eyes out for those crazy good shoulders from Chess though!

I'm thinking of putting together two sets, one stacking hit and one with crit/ap, so I can test them both out.
