I'd like to find some more information on how our pets scale with gear, specifically referring to Demonic Knowledge. Supposedly, the more STA, INT you have, the more your pet has, and thus increasing your +spell damage thru DK. I think its different for each pet as well.

Does it therefore, become more beneficial to collect +STA,+INT gear over spell damage if you are DK specced? how does that scale? and how does it compare to pure +damage and empowered corruption or SnF.

The tooltip tells you how much int/stam you give to your pet. DK gives 15% of the pet's stam/int to your spell damage (about 140 damage at 70).

While stam/int is more valuable with DK than without it, Spell damage is still a superior stat (at it gives the pet AP or spell damage).

I don't what to compare all that scaling of other talents, but Affliction Locks can top damage meters but Demo can do great if your Felguard lives (The cleave change not being in-game until 2.10.0 hurts them).

Pets receive:

30% of your Stam
30% of your Int

35% of your Armor

57% of your highest +Damage stat as AP
15% of your highest +Damage stat as +Damage

We can do some theorycrafting off of this..
Lets say you have Demonic Knowledge, Fel Intellect, Fel Stamina, and Demonic Embrace.

We're going to be seeing how much Stamina or Intellect will equal one point of +Damage

From DK, 15% of your pet's total Sta and Int is added to your +Damage.
From scaling, 30% of your Sta and Int is placed into your pet's Sta and Int.
From Fel Intellect and Stamina, your pet's Int and Sta are increased by 15%.
15% of 30% multiplied by 115% is 5.175%
Therefore, 5.175% of your Stamina and Intellect are added to your +Damage

Each point of stamina applied to you is multiplied by 15% due to Demonic Embrace.

Sta * 1.15 * .05175 = 1
Sta = 1 / (1.15 * .05175)
Sta = 1 / (.0595125)
Sta = 16.8

Int * .05175 = 1
Int = 1 / (.05175)
Int = 19.32


So, 16.8 Stamina or 19.32 Intellect are equivalent to 1 point of +Damage
As you can see, this is good, but not amazing.


One note: I'm not entirely sure that Fel Intellect and Fel Stamina apply to modified stats.
