to Beans - there's no limit to the times it can proc. other than internal cool downs there is no such think as a limit to the number of times an item can proc. Even PPM enchants like crusader can sometimes proc 2,3, even 4 times in quick succession. They simply have varying percent chances to activate based on factors like weapon swing speed.
Eye of Gruul has a flatly stated proc rate, and a tested lack of an internal cooldown. and it also reacts oddly with multiple target heals liek Chain ehal and CoH. So yes it is good for CoH spammy fights.
to Sikora- well, its more useful than the haste proc on Scarab imo. HOW useful however depends on several factors that i can't really answer for you. Such as how much value do you place on the 70 healing ( or other effect you'd have in that trinekt slot). How quickly you can activate and apply the haste effect and still use it effectively, and of course how much you usually cast HT.
In an ideal case I believe the trinket and say a lucky string of crits could have you landing healing touches almost as quickly as a flash heal. Certainly sounds powerful, and the mana saved isn't totally worthless either, but assume you decided you need the haste, do you cancel the current cast and click a trinket and hope that the canceled cast + haste cast time is shorter than just letting the original cast finish or Cancel cast and just NS a heal. For healers haste just doesn't really seem that good in comparison to skillful cancel casting, pre casting and that sort of thing. Also, I don't know any dreamstate druids so I don't know your casting style. Do you still roll a stack of lifeblooms then HT in between? or use longer running HoTs + HT, etc, just straight HT+ cancel casting etc etc. Anyway I think HTs long cast time is benefited by haste on like your rings and bracers, but when you could put 40 mp/5 in that trinket slot over this trinket, its hard to argue for it assuming you use a significant number of non -HT spells during any normal 15 second period, or that you cancel cast Hts regularly.
all in all I would steer away from non-permanent haste unless you can think of some situations where spell haste like this would make a big differences and only lasts 15-20 seconds long =P For example if I was a DPS class I would say "Man I'd love 25% haste and a mana discount for those damn shades in phase 4 illidan".and think of a dozen other situations where 15 seconds of haste is very good but as a healer all i can say is ... I guess its good for 1-2 fel rages or used late in phase 3 RoS, and even then it'd be tough to argue it over Essence of Martyr's own constant and burst throughput boost ( shorter cooldown, constant + healing Vs larger mana consumption and higher short term HPS)
So thats my opinion, here are some numbers which I don't find particularly useful but if they help you so much the better.
Wuushoolay's trinekt if you chain casted rank 13 HT and had a crit every single time for 15 seconds ( and started with NG up) would at best save you around 405 mana ( 965(base mana cost)x .05( trinekt discount) x (15/1.7(hasted castime) and give you again in a wildly unrealistic best case 8.9 casts ( assuming no lag as well).

I've looked at several boards and I haven't seen anyone mention it, and was curious if anyone has any idea?
I'm thinking of pairing it along with either the Alchemists Stone, or the Earring of Soulful Meditation on CoH spam heavy fights.
My normal trinket selection is usually the Earring, along with Essence of the Martyr or Alchemist Stone (depending on the fight).
Thanks!

EDIT: Seems I was wrong about PPM numbers. Anyways I have not heard of any PPM limits for this trinket. If anyone knows of any I'd like to see it.

It has a 2% chance to proc on every heal that lands. PPM number for this trinket wouldn't make any sense considering the fact the number of procs will be determined by the number of heals that land per min. i.e. 2%.

Don't confuse Proc Per Minute (PPM) with forced internal cooldowns. For representation example (not a resto example but a very good one for explaining proc/trinket mechanics):
Dragonspine Trophy pre Nerf had no internal Cooldown with a PPM of ~1.7
Dragonspine Trophy post Nerf had an internal Cooldown with a PPM of ~1.7
The internal Cooldown that the OP is asking about is the lockout time before the PPM can once again come into play. It is a forced no proc time window commonly refered to as an internal cooldown. It appears you have some confusion over how these mechanics work in your answer to the OP.
I do not believe the referenced trinket, Eye of Gruul, has an internal cooldown.

I would have to say it really depends on the situation, during Gurtogg for example, I roll a stack of lifeblooms on 4 players who take the bloodboil and during fel rage's I spam Rank 13 HT. When I'm assigned to healing the main tank I usually regrowth, rejuv, and refresh when they expire. In between I will usually cast 1 lifebloom which i let "bloom". During this time I'll most likely have an HT mid cast which I use when I see the MT take burst damage. I use rank 1 regrowth on the target as a way of keeping my Nature's Grace up as often as possible. This is basically my healing style in a nutshell.
Such encounters as you had previously mentioned would really demonstrate the utility of Wushoolay's Charm of Nature. However, the constant mp5 benefit that the Alchemist's Stone provides for me still seems to be much more worthy than this trinket and it's now visibly gimmicky qualities.

Follow up: Tested the trinket (eye of gruul) in a Gurtogg fight where I spammed CoH for 6 minutes. Proc'ed 9x, so about 50 mp5. Definitely will continue using it on coh heavy fights.

Whether you circle spam or just cast a ton, the Eye of Gruul trinket is very strong. With my cast style, the trinket is simply amazing.
RENEW: 7 procs on Bloodboil
WWS
CIRCLE SPAM: 12 procs on Teron
WWS
CIRCLE SPAM: 15 procs on Reliquary

This is sort of on topic. I have a resto druid (Jewelcrafter/Miner) who I like to use in 2v2 arena. Assuming the focus is 2v2, what trinket would give me the most benefit mana-wise.
For instance, if I have 100+ healing on a trinket, it might not seem like mp5, but it is saving me mana because I have to cast less heals. Similarly, straight mana per 5 also saves me mana.
I like the idea of having something with +healing on it for the burst healing benefit and would be willing to trade a slight amount of mana saving for this benefit, but I am primarily interested in mana saving. This druid is an alt with access to kara/za, pretty much.
I have pendant of the violet eye, bangle of endless blessings, lower city prayerbook, scarab of the infinite cycle, ribbon of craprafice, and am willing to get the battlemaster trinket, essence of the martyr if neccessary.
I am thinking talasite owl (which I can get as a JC) is the best trinket. However, I have asked multiple gladiator druids who all seem to have differing opinions.

Random question occurs to me - is the fecundity buff bestowed by the Ribbon of Sacrifice a magical effect? I'm guessing not, but if for some reason it was that would might make it a good anti-purge device (same goes for the Pendant's effect).

Ribbon of Sacrifice buff is magic. I use it in 2s and 3s to protect BoSac at important points in the fight. I don't think the pendant buff is.

I know for priests and druids the Darkmoon Card: Bluedragon is definitely worth getting, but I play a paladin and so I don't get spirit.
Is it worth it, for me as a paladin, to get Bluedragon for mp5?
Currently I use Xi'ri's and LCP.

With the low amount of spirit that should be on your gear, you won't get enough out of the proc to justify using it over a trinket with passive +heal/mp5.

Just hoping for some advice from other holy pallies healing in MH/BT. Currently I'm still using LowerCityPrayer book and Scarab combo and I think I should try out other combos. Anyone have good advice about pally trinkets for healing in MH/BT? A guildie was advising me to use a combo of Tome of Fiery Redemption and Battlemasters Perseverance (Badges). Just wondering what the rest of you thought? Thanks

I've been using LCP and Pendant of the Violet Eye since our first Aran kill. None of the other trinket options have impressed me (before Memento). Macro both trinkets to all healing spells and let them go off whenever they're up (or maybe I'm just lazy/forgetful when it comes to any on use effect).
I justify them to myself by the passives:
70 healing + 40int which scales with Divine Intellect + King and adds a nice amount of healing/spell crit.
Then the additional mana regen wins out over the on use +healing or proccing spell haste options.
I'll consider swapping to Sextant + Battlemasters Perseverance at 2/5 T6 which would then push 50% HL crit. I'm sure other pallies will have very different thoughts on the matter, even within our guild the 3 holy pallies have always used very different trinket combinations.

I'm in the same situation as you, havent ever stopped using LCPB and Pendant since it got buffed. Though lately, I find myself swapping back to my scarab and/or skyguard cross (just a few more badges for the battlemaster's) when I have a good spriest or on trash in general.

I've been pretty happy with the [Tome of Diabolic Remedy], from Malacrass in ZA. It's a very nice trinket, and the straight mp5 on it is more than the proc from the Pendant of the Violet Eye, which I found myself not using to the fullest potential most of the time (I macro it, though, and don't time it, so this may have led to most of that "waste").
With the Tome, I've switched to using the Essence of the Martyr to put myself up over 3k healing when both are proc'd. It gives a nice burst here and there to FoL. If Illidan ever drops several Memento for us (we have yet to get even one =(), I'd probably use the Tome and Memento together.

I usually pop violet trinket when im at 80/85 mana, and try to flash spam. Not really sure if it brings me up some but i dont think the mana regen will hurt hehe. more often than not, i want to contiously flashing but i have to stick atleast 1 HL in there to keep LG up. so its sometimes wasted.
Ribbon buff is kinda situation in pve, if it spikes and you pop it, its kinda too late. popping it normaly is appropriate i suppose but it feels like it goes to waste. Anyone check the effect it has on HOTS? maybe its worth popping when raiding with druids/priests.
Maybe having 2 +xxx trinkets, pop both when spikes happen, you might be able to still make a difference with FOL.

As well same with Thottbot World of Warcraft: Pendant of the Violet Eye has anyone done any testing with it? Just doesn't seem to be very good.

Eye of Gruul on a normal 6 min fight I get an average of 2-3 procs a fight. It is really nice for longer fights and seems to proc a lot. 450 reduced mana can bring several spells for free for druids, and several spells for really cheap. The Eye may only have 2% chance to proc, but I find for a druid who casts a lot, it procs a lot of time.

Based on some of the comments in the Paladin Healing Efficiency thread, I went back and have been doing some WWS testing on the Zeal trinket. To my surprise, I learned that the DoT refreshes when you melee your target, not just when you judge, which is something I missed in the patch notes. Great for soloing for me, but pretty good for our Retadin.
More importantly (and more relevant to this discussion), I've been taking a look at the HoT. On average so far, it does about 50% overhealing. However, if you divide the healing it did / number of heals I cast, it equated to about a +130 healing item considering I was casting Holy Lights. The +healing equivalent of the item depends completely on how lucky you get with the overhealing, but I would expect it to stay around that +130 healing (it was +94 healing per spell, but since it was a Holy Light, it only counts as 71% of what an item would give you. It's not 100% valid to calculate it this way, I know, but I wanted to compare it against other trinkets).
All in all, I think the Ashtongue trinket is more useful than I originally thought. It's not game-breaking, but I would judge it to be better than [Lower City Prayerbook]. The HoT effect is certainly nice in that it can help bridge the gap in between heals, though I don't think a 190/tick renew will save the day or anything. For now, I've swapped the two and will be keeping an eye on the Zeal trinket in my WWS.
|
Has anyone else tested [Ashtongue Talisman of Zeal] out, or done some solid TC on it. I am currently trying to persuade myself that it is better than +heal trinkets such as [Essence of the Martyr] and [Ribbon of Sacrifice] in terms of pure throughput on FoL (I'm not going to try and compare it to an mp5 trinket). As such I am finding it very hard to be unbiased
I'm not a huge fan of the /use of these two trinkets, as has been discussed many times before that its situational and you will rarely know in advance when it is needed, or if you use them on the timers then most of the extra burst is usually overheal.
I can take a brute force TC point of view and say that the [Essence of the Martyr] gives 46hp on average per cast if you have 29%crit on FoL (with a few % less crit, it doesn't reduce by much more than 1-3hp). I'm going to go ahead and say that the +297 use is negligable seeing as in the 2min cd you cast 80FoL's, that's 3.7+heal per cast.
With a 15% chance to proc, thats once every 6.67 casts of FoL, [Ashtongue Talisman of Zeal] grants 760hp, whereas the +84heal grants 46 * 6.67 = 306.82hp.
I havn't got this trinket yet, so I have no idea whether the buff stacks if it procs twice in 12s, but i think that can be argued either way seeing as the buff theoretically takes 10s to proc, so it should be up all the time, even if it does overlap a bit occasionally, it should still heal more in hp than the +84heal trinket.
With regards to overheal, I'm thinking that it doesn't matter, it's just as likely to overheal as an FoL would.
Finally its a hot, granted you can't control it, but every little helps when you are unable to heal for a period of time, especially if the buff procs just before a fear/silence or something that forces you to move.
Any further input would be much appreciated, as it stands I am going to to try it out, seeing as doing the figures for this post has convinced me its worth a shot.
NB. I got the hp values by using the "Average Heal w/ Crit" column in the Pala Healing spreadsheet.

I just got my [Eye of Gruul] trinket today, and I noticed something weird. I believe this proc can only occur on effective heals (i.e. if you hit someone with a heal that is already topped off, you don't have any chance to proc the buff. I stood in orgrimmar and spammed myself with Circle of Healing while 4 party members stood around me and I could not get any procs. However, the second we were in a raid with actual damage, it was procing like crazy.
To contrast, I was wearing the [Fel Reaver's Piston] and that was continuing to proc the HOT even when my targets were all topped off.
So it really doesn't change too much about the trinket-- it still is excellent for Circle spam on encounters with massive guaranteed group AOE. However, for tank healing, it is probably even worse than originally theorycrafted, as renews, prayer of mending, and landed Greater Heals on targets with full health will not proc this.
Have other people with the trinket noticed this as well?

a quick test with Flash heal shows Eye of Gruul can proc on heals on full targets. I suppose it could be simply a unique aspect of CoH since I didn't have 4 other people to test with, but by and large it seems unlikely, and still its effectiveness ( which is small) remains largely unchanged for single target healing.

So yeah, after a week or so of playing around, I am loving the Eye of Gruul, and I'm pretty sure there's nothing else in the game I'd replace it with for my CoH spamming set. Basically, with Circle spam, assuming I'm picking good targets and hitting 3-5 targets per cast, I'm seeing it proc every 15 casts or so, which is amazing. The best part is the magic "450 mana" marker, which means that any spell I cast under 450 mana while under the effect of "Healing Trance" is free, and does not trigger the 5sr. This includes:
1) An untalented max rank Renew
2) An untalented max rank Circle of Healing
3) A prayer of mending
4) A Rank 1 Greater Heal, or a Rank 2 Greater Heal with at least 1 point spent in Improved Healing
As a priest who already stacks a lot of spirit, a free cast, combined with an Inner Focus can result in a lot of free mana in a clutch situation. This trinket also pairs beautifully with the Earring of Soulful Meditation. It's basically like "Clearcasting" for GH spamming priests, but with a much higher proc rate.
Basically, assuming I'm mostly going to be circle spamming through ZA, SSC, TK, and Hyjal, I think that I'm pretty much set, trinket-wise... I don't see any other trinkets on the horizon that will be better for this case.
On the other hand, I've been pretty unimpressed with my [Fel Reaver's Piston]. The mp5 is not nearly enough to make up for the loss of the Earring on-use effect, and the healing effect is pretty weak. I think that either because 1) the buff just overwrites itself on my targets when i'm spamming the same people and 2) it's largely overhealing anyway, the proc accounted for less than 1% of my total healing in a 25-man raid healing scenario. I'm still waiting for official WWS numbers, but at least on my own recount, it looked pretty unimpressive.
