Help/Thoughts on caster itemization

I am currently around 950-1000 buffed shadow damage, depending on how much stamina I'm wearing, as a heavy affliction lock and have been a bit puzzled by some of the gear available to me in karazan/gruul. I have 3/3 shadoweave and sadly I think once prince drops his dagger and cape that I will be better off farming a spellstrike hood over taking tier 4. Seems to me that alot of the caster gear from raiding is piss-poor. Shadoweave blows the voidheart shoulders away. I know alot of this depends on spec but there seems to be a very heavy emphasis on crit in the BC.

I'm really lost as to where blizzard is going with the new sets after I was so happy with tier 3. There are very few items that blow me away like when I first went into naxx or even bwl. Anyone out there with the same thoughts as me? I would really value the input of some other UA locks and be thanksful of any tips as far the best raiding gear goes.

*note* I posted in here because alot of my gear question involve my spec.

for affliction, Shadowweave and Spellstrike beat T4/T5 easily. Even the loot in Serpentshrine thus far pales to it. aside from what you mentioned, the shadow neck is beautiful, as are the huntsman's gloves. for straight damage, though, keep an eye out for 68+ of shadow wrath pieces. highest +dmg belt in kara is 34 dmg, but a 70 osw belt hits +60. I paid 10g for a 70 offhand with 45 shadow damage, then traded 25 badges in for one with 49. go figure.

Mages are in a similar situation. The crafted stuff is just soooo good.

It is just kind of stupid that you learn all the new raiding content and you can get better gear by farming and trading twards gear. Just stupid to me that the best ring in the game for casters is still from c'thun.

Niska what are these gloves you are talking about? I'm still using ebony flame

Yea sorry about that, I only really read this section of the forums. Came by this other post afterwards and it is sort of along the same lines.
