What I assumed from the patch note was that Night Elves had it even worse, and now they have it just as bad as Taurens.

I assumed half the problem with the range bug was the inherent extra "cow range" taurens get. Saying that they changed the NE one to the tauren one just seemed ... weird?

We tend not to get more than 2 Rogues in raid, so I usually get into the melee dps group. I am surprised how often I am proc'ing Windfury when I powershift. I suppose the PPM thing comes into play there since I'm not swinging much more than 4-5 times a minute with my actual weapon. Its funny to see a 1.2k white crit followed by a Windfury proc. Sometimes I wonder how our actual caster-form melee compares with cat white damage. It's too bad you can't regenerate energy in caster form in the same way that you can regenerate mana in cat :p

Windfury is straight up 20%, not a PPM attack. Pretty sure cat form melee >> caster form though

The macro provided probably will make the powershifters (or those learning how to powershift) a little bit more efficient, which is awesome: a little bit of efficiency without losing anything is a great reward after even a short period of time.
I've seen several people mention putting up Rip before putting up the Mangle debuff. I'm not sure why you would ever do this: why would you even let one Rip tick without Mangle's debuff? That's not maximizing our DPS by any means to let any Rip tick without Mangle.
Now, of course, it's probably best to wait until you've got enough energy to do them both shortly after each other, but inevitably you'll probably have to put Mangle up again before Rip finishes, but by then you probably have 5 points anyways (or hopefully).
This of course brings to mind why I love feral druid tanks so much: Mangle is up on the target pretty much all the time anyways: hooray for easy buffs to Shred and Rip.
Back to the point: am I missing something with putting Mangle up before Rip?
And, to confirm, there is no GCD triggered for leaving forms, caster GCD or cat GCD or otherwise.

Because if you Mangle before Rip, the Mangle will wear off before the last tic of Rip, meaning you'd have to mangle twice or lose the +30% Rip damage, of course, you lose even more damage by having to mangle again (depending on armor) So it's lose-lose with mangle before Rip.
Once again, without counting crits or procs...
00:00 (100)
01:31 Rip (70)
02:00 (90)
02:31 Mangle *1* (50)
03:31 Shred *2* (8)
04:00 (28)
06:00 (48)
06:01 Shred *3* (6)
08:00 (26)
10:00 (46)
10:01 Shred *4* (4)
12:00 (24)
13:31 -Rip
14:00 (44)
14:01 Shred *5* (2)
14:01 -Cat Form
14:31 -Mangle Debuff
15:01 +Cat Form (40)
16:00 (60)
18:00 (80)
20:00 (100) *Repeat*
Also, we REALLY don't need 3 threads about Catform DPS. Most of this thread could be safely merged with the Feral Druid DPS thread

Changing out of shadowform triggers a GCD however you do it. BUT if you are already on a GCD then you can click off the buff (probably /cancelform works too but I haven't tried) and it will still work.
Mainly its handy for casting PW:S and then clicking off shadowform while only using a single GCD.

Has anyone run calculations for powershifting when you are on a bleed-immune boss and stuck using ferocious bite?
It seems as though powershifting immediately following a bite would negate the energy loss from the shifting and somewhat offset the large downtime between yellow attacks after FB.

Someone posted a graph of the dpe efficiency of FB vs Shred.
Basically for AP > 3500 never ever FB if you have 42 or more energy. Even if it means wasting CPs on the target.
Yes, FB is that bad.

This macro can be hit for your last shred in Boevis' cycle (at 14:01). Spam it, you'll shred, and then powershift. I based it off the macro used to pot in less than a second. It makes everything lightning quick!

Unsure that this needs it's own thread, and this one seems the most appropriate for it, but WoW Forums -> Upcoming 2.3 Changes - Concise List indicates that /cancelform will in 2.3 be recognised instantly (thus allowing for 1 click/press healthstone/pot in bear) but this would also seem to allow for significantly quicker power shifting too to take advantage of furor?
Something like:
/cancelform
/cast Cat Form ()

That would be great, except that powershifting is completely broken in 2.2, and supposedly the devs have overlooked it. (Intentionally or not, we don't know!)

"Q u o t e: Tharfor
Is it an intended 'fix' that our powershifting has been nerfed by the upcoming PTR patch?
We can't powershift "inbetween" energyticks since energyticks will be individual and not global.
This is a huge loss for me in dps. If you want I could bring up some statistics and info for what powershifting actually does for feral dps.
Powershifting? You mean expending all your energy then popping out and back into catform to take advantage of furor?
And I assume you are talking about this change:
Q u o t e: Tharfor
Power Regeneration: Any effect which triggers a change in your rate of power regeneration (Mana, Rage, Energy, Focus) will now cause an immediate reward of some power at the old rate of increase, and then begin new “ticks” of power at the new rate approximately 2 seconds later. This was done to improve functionality of abilities such as Evocation and Innervate so that they did not have wasted “ticks”.
Since the change is on the PTR at the moment and seems to be unrelated to the act of powershifting I would say that the impact on powershifting has been overlooked (either accidentally or intentionally).
I'm not too sure what jurisdiction I have over the PTR feedback but I'll see what I can discover. If/when the change goes live and starts to affect people on a wider scale, then we might be able to draw more attention to it."

what about the group
i have been reading this as i was unaware of what "powershifting" was until just now, and something caught my attention in the whole number crunch of our dps as druids the first thought was the malorne 2 piece bonus but that was mentioned. The second thought was not mentioned however, and that was usually in cat form dps you would be grouped with other physical or melee dps so as to provide them with that luscious 5% crit I know the shape shift is fast and you could do it with a macro but what about their white damage loss?

First of all, we have an integrated Feral Druid megathread. The post prior to yours is about
2 Months old. Please look at the date before posting.
Second, Powershifting, especially with the new /cancelform mechanics, will only take as long as your latency. Assuming that aura effects are being checked on a per second basis (this remains to be confirmed), the group will not lose LoTP at all.
With that said, however, please take the discussion to the other thread.

Has anyone else worked this out, and figured out why this is? I'm enjoying seeing ~550 Rip ticks, and it would be nice to know that it's not because Rip is bugged.
|
This is correct. I have no idea why. I sent it to a guildie that works in blizzard QA with full graphical analysis and linear regression evidence, and the response back was 'Working as Intended, No Bug Found, Our Data Spreadsheet is Correct'.
So who knows, but I don't expect a change any time soon.

Right now shifting during a Cat GCD will leave you locked in another GCD once you shift into humanoid form. What this means is:
Say you just did a special to get 0 energy and shift out right away. You will be locked in humanoid form for 1.5 seconds before you can shift back to cat.
This means the optimal time of shift has changed. It now requires you to wait after cat GCD is gone to effective shift. Is powershifting even worth doing with this new change?

There's a thread called Feral Druid Megathread on this forum where all feral related things should go apparently. Perhaps this thread should be locked?

Is there a macro that enables you to doubleclick it and you shift out and back in?
But if you click 3x you don't shift back to caster?
I could then put it in my cat bar and spam it when powershifting without having to worry...?
P.s. i' new to the forums and i'm terribly sorry if the macro is written down somewhere, I've only started to digest the feral druid megathread
