Seems it procs every 20 seconds based on wowhead comments.
I currently have this on my Gavel of Pure light. Im wondering though if +30 int would be better though since the 30int functions as spell crit (free heals)
I guess it's situational based on how many casters are in my particular group. So I have to ask:
1. Would you take this over the +81 heal or +30 int enchant?
2. What weapon would you enchant it on (My guild does Karazhan and working on Gruul)
I ask because I don't see a lot of people with this enchant. Some have suggested the proc is 15% though that was beta datamining and I haven't heard much other than anecdotal information from live servers.
I am personally planning on getting either just a secondary weapon for Spellsurge or getting Eredar Life-Staff for it with it having three sockets and 15mp5 already there, it just seems right to stack a ton of regen on. Honestly, Spellsurge for a heal spamming pally doesn't seem too bad, but gettin git on more people then just you will make it better.
I'm going for spellsurge simply because I'm not the one with mana issues, my group is. I haven't got to try it with 5 people in a group all using it but it certainly is a big big help to our priests and other casters(even helps keep the shadowpriest going!).
We've had a few other threads about spellsurge but yeah the proc rate is still ~15% (I think it might be 30% for paladins) but there is a 30sec cooldown. I'm almost always in a group of at least four mana users so its my enchant of choice.
I currently have the Spellsurge enchant on my Shard of the Virtuous and have been quite happy with it. I think the mistake in viewing this enchant is thinking in terms of helping yourself. I barely notice that additional mana on top of the ~400 mp5 I normally have. My caster party members, on the other hand, tell me that the 100 mana every 30 seconds over an X minute fight actually helped them out a lot.
You'll never see a mage or warlock with this enchant when there's spellpower to be had, but for the healers whose role is that of helping others, it is, in my opinion, a very worthwhile investment.
As you approach 1500 +healing the mana returned from this enchant becomes more valuable than 81+healing since each point of mana can be used that much more effectively. Its similar to the classic crit versus +dmg relation that dpsers calculate.
