with the results given here 40% occurance to mid 20% occurance for glancing blows, was that parsed on a lvl 73 (or boss mob) mob? with the wording given from the patch notes it seems like the occurance of a glancing blow will scale with the difference of lvls between the mob and the toon. could any1 parse some data on lvl 72 and 71 mobs plz

Glancing Blows have significantly less of a chance to occur during a player’s melee attacks when targets are near the player’s level.

I start to doubt the currently assumed glancing blow chance of 40%. In our last few raids in magtheridon's lair every single rogue landed at overall glancing of 46-47% and every warrior landed at 49-52%.

Don't know if this is a WWS bug, or the glancing blow chances have increased in TBC.

It's a WWS thing. WWS shows glances as a percentage of attacks landed, not a percentage of total swings including misses. So you're glancing 40% of your swings, but because it's subtracting misses out of that total you get a higher glance rate.

We exposed some other weird data, though - as a rogue I was PvP specced and running without weapon expertise for a while, and my effective glance rate was 52% when other rogues with it were 46-47%. It actually made me fork over gold to respec to try and get rid of it.

0.5% reduction in glancing blows per +weapon skill?
Hard to imagine they'd bring a skill to glancing equivalency so soon after they canned it for being abusive.

Still, stranger things have happened, and a welcom buff if that is the root of your discrepency.

I ran a Kazzak run yesterday on live, and had an effective glancing of 34%, and a miss rate of 0.8%. 120 hits, 1 miss. Wierd string of results in my opinion. I have 21.5% hit, but it had to be a lucky streak to pull that off.

I had no idea you could glance on an equal level mob until tonight. The Unliving Residents must have a very high defense rating. I know they are not ??? which you would obviously glance more on, but they are still there if you needed anything outisde of a raid mob.

There are many mobs you can glance on, at equal lvl. In most cases, I havent seen a dmg reduction on glancing hits on even level mobs however.
