[Warrior] Heroic Strike threat question

If I have enough excess rage to keep heroic strike up, how is the threat generation vs. the white hits / crits of not keeping it up?

This has been boggling me a bit, thanks for the appreciation : )

Kenco: A Guide To Threat.

(A) Warrior
Most warrior abilities add a fixed amount of threat when they land successfully. The following table gives the raw values, i.e. before the modifiers from battle stance or defensive stance, and ignores the damage done by the abilities.

Sunder Armor 5..........260
Sunder Armor 6..........300
Heroic Strike 8.........145
Heroic Strike 9.........173
Heroic Strike 10........193
Revenge 5...............315
Revenge 6...............355
Revenge 7...............400 (estimated)
Revenge 8...............483
Shield Bash.............180
Shield Slam 4...........250
Shield Slam 5...........286 (estimated)
Shield Slam 6...........323
Thunder Clap............130
Demoralizing Shout......43
Battle Shout............55
Cleave..................100
Execute.................x1.25
Devastate ..............100 (all ranks)
Basically, take the damage done, add the flat modifier and you have the threat done by heroic strike, whereas white damage is point for point threat. :] (note that this is all before modifiers such as defiance/defensive stance, etc. as stated in the quote.)

Does Piercing Howl hold an aggro value? Also, whirlwind, beside the damage?

Another thing to note is that heroic strike, being a special attack, cannot glance and does not suffer the dual wield penalty. All glances and ~19% of misses on the combat table will be converted to hits, which increases threat.

Demo shout has a higher agro level than Piercing Howl.

Both Whirlwind and Piercing Howl have no innate threat i.e. threat from whirlwind is purely from damage dealt and howl creates no threat at all.

The only warrior ability I can think of that has some sort of innate threat and isn't on that list is mocking blow.

After looking up the data for Mocking Blow, I thinkit's pretty clear that it does not have any extra innate threat, merely a taunt attached and some physical damage. So that's probably why it's not on that list.

Mocking Blow:
The tooltip states otherwise "A mocking attack that causes 114 damage, a moderate amount of threat and forces the target to focus attacks on you for 6 seconds."

The problem with mocking blow that's been the problem with mocking blow for 2 years is that battle stance's 80% inane cancels out the threat heh.

Last time I tested, Whirlwind had a 25% threat bonus, presumably to compensate for the Berserker stance modifier.

Piercing Howl had zero threat.

Vaguely related to this - can someone just confirm for me that i'm not being thick and that as soon as your devastates are hitting for more then 200 a pop its more threat per GCD then sunder ?

And whirlwind creating extra threat is news to me and most other people i'd suspect, i'd love to see some proof.

I's somewhere around 231 IIRC (there was a thread with calculations), as for rage efficiency its around 270 (versus Improved Sunder).

P.S. I just posted numbers someone else calculated but its not hard to do it yourself

One suggestion might be is to use KTM and see what kinda of values you reach. It is a very accurate tool in gauging threat. For example if I open with shield slam, if I crit, i reach around 2.5k ish in threat on my warrior on KTM. You can use it as a comparision tool to see how well you are generating that threat vs the rest of your raid.
