[Tanking] Java Tanking Simulator

I was going through blue.cardplace.com, and found this interesting app that simulates damage mitigation. Here's the link for the thread, but please bear in mind that as this is not a spreadsheet, exercise caution. This is not my application. The author appears to be Morn of the guild Executus.

Impressions:
It is interesting, however as it is more about long term mitigation, it assumes a bit too much for it to be too useful. It assumes no special attacks, ie: a static attack speed. It also assumes talents like Improved Shield Block (though I don't really mind that). The focus of the software appears to be comparing Paladin, Warrior, and Druid stats.

I've seen it before. It sets a good standard comparison for outright mitigation, even though fights will diverge from it in game. Not sure about the accuracy of the Paladin/Druid/Warrior comparisons, however

edit : didn't realize the full capabilities of said program.

Gurg has said it before, the world needs more Garr.

Not impressed at all...apparently, the word "comparable" gear also means "unbuffed values". The druid numbers he's using is 22k armor 30% dodge or so. Druids get much more from raid buffs than warriors and paladins, especially in the area of avoidance. Druids' agi:dodge ratio is only 14.9 or so, while it's much higher than warriors and paladins.

Unbuffed simulators is extremely faulty for comparisons between classes for this very same reason. There's no boss in the game ( as far as I know) that can dispel buffs, so all comparisons between classes should be made under standard raid buffs ( kings, +str totem, +agi totem, mark), otherwise druids will always "fall short".

So then add buffs in and redo the simulation. It's not that hard to figure out.

Oh...whoops! I thought the "tank" values are static. Downloaded the program and found out that they are actually alterable. Definitely an impressive program in my eyes now, hehe. I'm going to definitely recommend this to all of the tanks in my guild.

You know, I didn't even know he dispelled buffs until about two weeks ago, even though I've run Escape from Durnholde at least a dozen times.

Hah, yeah. I can remember a topic 'How do you tank Epoch Hunter?' on the official Paladin forums a while ago, my first thought when I read it was "He... Dispels buffs?". I'd never even noticed it; I just figured his Wing Buffet thing was a pretty hefty aggro reduction.

Then I'd assume some people don't realize his AoE dispel is an aura, that you can dispel. Sure, he'll reapply the aura every 10-15 seconds, but if you have a priest/shaman that is quick on the trigger, you can do this without losing a single buff.

/end de-rail.

Well, i tested it yesterday and the chance to crushings on me were reduced by block value ?!

It seems to be kinda buggy..

Its a simulator, the results generated vary from time to time. It works fine here.

There is an even better simulator for paladin tanks. It simulates healers as well including their stats so you can get an idea of if you have enough healing power. It also simulates a boss special attack on a timer so you can see if you die of burst damage.
