[Paladin] Off tanking on Doomwalker
Hey, has any other paladin tried to off tank on Doomwalker?
I was trying today and in theory at least it's perfect, you stand next to the main tank (or are the main tank if you have better gear than I do) and when he runs off just hit him with your 40 yard taunt and it's ez mode DPS o clock Unfortunately in practice, I ran into the following problems: 1. Knockbacks I didn't realize he knocks the melee back for that phase, but this was easily solved by standing with my back to the little walls and junk all over the place, or staying out of range of it 2. Taunt resists What am I supposed to do about the ridiculously high chance for a skull mob to resist taunt? What do warriors do on that fight? 3. Line of Sight The 40 yard three target properties of Righteous Defense are a double-edged sword.. on the one hand, you can taunt a boss from ridiculously far away, on the other hand, you have to be within 40 yards of and have line of sight with said boss' target, easier said than done with all the crazy barriers and pieces of junk in the area we were fighting Doomwalker Any ideas? |
Unfortunately you need spell hit for the paladin taunt iirc which is totally impractical since there's none on any tanking gear.

Isn't it identical, as regards the need for spell hit (and large amounts), to the warrior taunt?
/thinks back to 4H and Gahz'ranka trinkets |

The line of sight is the real problem
I could probably just stack a bunch of spell hit then stand next to the tank and pray that the boss doesn't hit me more than once, but I have to have line of sight with Doomwalker's target, which is the part that's really crippling ah, screw it, I'll just play my rouge for that fight or put on some healing gear and run out to drink when I go oom every two minutes because I have zero points in holy, haha |
