It has something to do with the fact that, from the perspective/intent of this sheet it doesn't do anything (i.e., it doesn't change gear rankings at all), and something to do with the fact that the theoretical buff sheet revamp hasn't happened yet.

Ok so I can't get the answer I am looking for from the spreadsheet so I'll ask the question here, maybe someone knows.
How good is it to have a hunter in with Ferocious Inspiration in the melee dps group compared to having a warrior, druid or shaman?

How can you not get the answer by looking at the sheets? There are buffs at the bottom which you can select depending on which classes are in your group. The sheets are here to answer these exact questions; we arent babysitters because you're lazy.

Step 1: Estimate the uptime of Ferocious Inspiration. The hunter may be able to help you with this.
Step 2: Compute uptime * .03 * current damage. This is the amount of damage you gain from Ferocious Inspiration.
Step 3: Add and remove the other buffs to see how much DPS they give.

In the more general sense, if you have other melee dps'ers.. put them in the melee group. A hunter gains far less from being in the melee group than any other physical dps class. Battle shout does not apply to Ranged AP, Unleashed Rage does not apply to Ranged AP, Hunters don't benefit from Windfury. The AP buffs do buff the hunter's pet's AP, however this is only roughly ~25% of their total DPS. Anyone who can make use of the WF totem is generally top priority to put in the melee dps group. Warriors, Ret Paladins, Rogues. After that players who make use of the AP buffs such as a feral druid are often the next choice, not to mention the 5% crit bonus for everyone else in the group.
If you want to maximize the dps of a single player, sure a BM Hunter can be good. If you want to maximize the raid's dps as a whole, fill that slot with a melee class. Every raid is different in terms of composition, you will of course have to decide what works best for your guild, but ideally you won't have a BM hunter grouped with a rogue. That said, it would certainly be a *better* choice than to put someone like a mage in that group.

And just to take it one step further: FI applies to all damage, not just physical. Therefore a BM hunter can buff the raid almost as well even if not in a melee group.

Except it's a group only buff. So that hunter can buff casters or melee groups, not the entire raid.

I believe he meant more in the lines of "therefore a BM hunter doesn't necessarily have to be in a melee group to be able to boost". :-)

mmo-champion published a nice overview of 2.4, with the assumption that 2.4 is almost at the front door. Is the info in that 0.9.5 beta that can be found several pages back close to the latest 2.4? It looks it is time for final planning

Well, the 0.9.5 versions are listed as beta not so much because of uncertainty over whether the patch was final, but more because relative to 0.9.4 there have been a *lot* of major changes, and I wanted to give people a chance to look it over and find any bugs it might have before pronouncing it the official release version. However, to date, there have only been a few small bugs reported, plus one or two I found myself, so it's probably ready to go live.
...although, now that I think about it, it should probably more accurately be called 0.10.0. Well, whatever. There'll be a release of it in another week or two once I've had time to clean up the last lingering bugs.

Quick question about 0.9.4...is it possible to enable magister's terrace without sunwell? Justification: guild wont be able to enter the 25 man raid but I could prepare myself more with 5 man and new badge loot.
Thanks!

Magister's Terrace loot should all be listed under 5-Mans, unless I made a mistake.

Well, I just checked and I cannot choose to equip any of the new gear. That is probably intended though.
When disabling all buy 5 mans and lowering my gear a lot, i get recommendations of the new MT stuff which answers my question: I can't get any upgrades from the new content until Sunwell! :-(
Is the new badge loot taken into consideration as well?
Thanks for the information!

Upon contemplation: I don't think all of the 2.4 loot is in 0.9.4. You'll want to grab one of the 0.9.5. beta releases if you want estimates of the new gear. As they are betas, they may be a bit buggy, but they're better than nothing. Search the last couple of pages and you should be able to find it linked.

Aww that sucks
2.4 now completely confirmed - tomorrow
Downloaded the last beta 0.9.5 and it shocked me with badges fist weapons actually 15 dps above my talon + s2 oh swords :/
If fists calculations are correct, I'm for a whooping 460 badges for the patch. Meh

Use the "search thread functionality" next time please. http://elitistjerks.com/632493-post2037.html
And you might want to look over your spelling and capitalisation.

Never ending question... In "offensive" calculations (0.9.5 beta spreadsheet), [Netherblade Facemask] is valued higher than [Grimgrin Faceguard]. About 2.84 points. But I'd have to put two blue gems to meet RED requirements and I'll lose 2*12 points by changing 8hit to 4agi/6sta. So the question is - does spreadsheet already takes this tradeoff into calculation or doesn't it? Because if it does and Malchezaar's drop is really better than Zul'Jin's, I'd consider changing some other item into T4 to get set bonus - I still have problems with maintaining my cycle without 2*T4...
EDIT: Forget the question - I figured it out for myself. I would delete my entire post if I only know how to :>

It boils down to this. If you don't take the time to do the research in to a simple question, and decide to ask us about it at least take the time to format your post in such a way that it looks like you spent more than 5 seconds on it. If your post looks like you spent 5 seconds on it then that is about all the time I will spend caring about what it says.
There are numerous posts in this very thread about that trinket. Use the search functionality.

Not sure where to put this question so I'm sticking it in the gear thread.
Last night I obtained Tracker's Blade. I'm combat swords right now with Talon of Azshara and Akil'zon's Talonblade. I was wondering if it's worth the respec to throw Tracker's Blade in offhand since the DPS is higher, better stats but damage/speed is relatively same, and just tweak my build a bit to get dagger specialization to? Or should I keep moving with what I have?
Just fishing for some thoughts.
