Hello all, I am going to be switching over for the first time ever from gearing/speccing myself for pvp over to pve. Is there some sort of listed Equipment Table for pre serpentshrine gear of what is the best piece per slot to maxamize dps in a general envirement? ( Any heroic/Kara/Gruuls )

My spec will be combat swords.

I made a list myself that currently looks like this, any help or suggestions is apreciated.

I am completely unsure right now of which Trinket combo would maxamize pve DPS any suggestions are helpful.

Some combo of Hourglass/poisonvial/brooch/abacus im sure but will need to test.

Correct me if I am wrong, but is not +7 damage better than mongoose for offhand?

You might want to spend some time studying the local Rogue Spreadsheet (hosted atm by Bleedo at http://rogue.bleedo.net/), of which you'll find more information at the cleverly named thread "Rogue DPS Spreadsheet" (Elitist Jerks > Public Discussion > Class Mechanics & Theorycrafting > Rogue DPS Spreadsheet, or Rogue DPS Spreadsheet to get there with one click).

Optimal gear for you depends largely on the spec you are using, as well as somewhat on the outside buffs you are receiving. With this spreadsheet it's rather easy to model various situations and see what gear supports your gameplay for the maximum gain.

Fel Whisper knives are (imho) the best ranged weap for dps, its craftable too.

With "my" system ((2ap=1agi=1hitr=1critr, disregarding stamina) at least before 2.1):
Fel leather leggings and fel leather boots are superior to netherblade and edgewalkers(disregarding setbonuses).
There are also some blue bracers with +hit on them that supposedly give more dps than maidens when raidbuffed. (Wristspur something?)

Basically until 2.1 many epics have had a blue comparable without stamina corrupting its budget yielding more dps.
The blue questreward Natashas choker gives most dps up to Worgen claw and the 25badge neck.

Ranged: Marksman Bow (Thrallmar exalted reward)

i would have to do the math wether 4 piece Wastewalker can keep up with karazahn epics and/or t4 post-patch

I can't imagine how it would be. According to the spreadsheet (I'm a fanboy, I know) it's approx. +7 damage is 20dps less than Mongoose for your offhand.

Part of the reason behind this, I'd imagine, is that the +7 damage is going to be modified by the offhand penalty (75% talented) and does not get used in any instants besides Shiv, which is not so great if you're trying to maximize DPS. Mongoose procing on the offhand affects both hand's swings in addition to your specials.

Are you sure +7 is modified by the offhand penalty? I have a Brutal Earthstorm Diamond and the paper DPS indicates that the +3 damage boost is applied after the penalty.

Actually, I'm not entirely sure about that, and you're probably right if that's how it's represented in the character sheet. (even if the character sheet isn't always perfect.)

Even if it's 7 damage on offhand swings instead of 5.25, that's still hardly enough to make up the 20dps difference in the enchants.

In terms of the best of the best pre serious raid gear.

You can get a better belt and bracers from Heroic CoT instances

The pants off netherspite are better than midnight.

Id get the ranged weapon from HH rep you only really want a thrown for pvp, the stats are generally better for pve on a gun/bow and you wont deadly throw in pve

Put a 12 agi enchant on your boots instead of boar speed, or if you want to maintain the speed effect get the cat speed enchant. (Surefooted is another good option)

Also I would wait and see where arena weapons come out dps wise to see if Glad Sword ends up better than spiteblade.

As far as trinkets I would say Dragonspine Trophy and abacus or brooch if the abacus wont drop

Helm: Deathblow X11 Goggles (Pulsing Amethyst + Haste Metagem, Glyph of Ferocity) (or Netherblade with Glinting Noble Topaz instead of the Amethyst, if you're not an engineer)
Neck: Choker of Vile Intent
Shoulders: Wastewalker (Delicate Living Ruby + Shifting Nightseye, Greater Inscription of Vengeance)
Cloak: Drape of the Dark Reavers (+12 agi)
Chest: Netherblade (2xGlinting Noble Topaz, Shifting Nightseye, +6 stats)

Mongoose trashes all other weapon enchants, on either hand - if you trust the spreadsheet I put together (which I do, obviously) OH Mongoose is benefit on the order of 100 static AP, while OH Agi is 34 AP and +7 damage is 15 AP (or 20, if it applies after the OH damage penalty). So defenitely Mongoose OH.

Wowhead says it's a random world drop. Whether it's right or not, I have no idea.

I should also probably throw in the caveat that the inclusion of Romulo's Poison Vial is done based off largely unconfirmed reports of the proc rate. If the proc rate turns out to be much below 1 PPM, you're better off replacing it with Abacus of Violent Odds, and then replace the Delicate Living Rubies in Skulker's Greaves and enough Glinting Noble Topazes in yellow sockets elsewhere for (edit) Rigid Dawnstones instead so as to be right up at the hit cap.

Ah, yes, indeed. Fixed. Not sure what I was thinking. Clearly I wasn't, I guess.

I guess the one other tidbit I'd throw in is that this gear analysis is heavily colored by the inclusion of Dragonspine Trophy, which is such a powerful proc that it singlehandedly increases the value of hit rating by about 15%. If you're not using it, it's not quite so important to be hit-capped. But if you are, you basically want to get as close as humanly possible to the hit cap in order to max out your dps.

Only qualm with this setup is that 4pc WW could probably thrash whatever upgrade Kara can offer.

Before the recent Karazhan buffs, yes. With the new changes, it's less clear to me.

The best two piece of gear from that listing to swap out for their WW counterpart are probably Chest + Legs, which costs you roughly 100 AP worth of dps stats. So in order for WW 4/5 to be better, the set bonus would need to have 60%+ proc uptime. Whether it does or not, I couldn't say for sure (as I don't have 4 WW pieces to test with) - but my guess would be that it probably doesn't. Feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken.

My spreadsheet puts the new Gladiator's Slicer ahead by roughly 6 AEP.

Any advice on best pre-SSC weapons for a Hemo rogue? Blacksmith hammer in MH naturally, it's the only choice due to the speed. What should I put in my OH? Is Latro's the one and only, or is that only for Combat specs? No CP or sword specialisation, and + sword skill won't do anything for the MH - surely I don't have to keep farming for Latro's?

Right now I have Guile of Khoraazi, but I hear it's getting nerfed. Should I focus on grinding a Sunblade? What in particular should I look out for in Karazhan?

For Hemo, OH Speed matters significantly less since you don't have Combat Potency to worry about. Which is not to say that it isn't still good; it's still faster poison applications, cheaper shivs, etc. My instinct would be to say that any high-dps, not terribly slow weapon would be find; one of the Gladiator OH's would probably do just fine.
