What're you guys (tanks) planning on using for your Guardian/Battle slots? I'm sure it'll vary from boss to boss but in general...

In general when I think we'll wipe a lot? Probably a flask.

Major Agility + Major Fortitude/Defense.

Now, food buffs make things slightly more interesting; if I think I REALLY need more hitpoints, I can grab some +Sta food. Need more threat? Str Food. More mitigation period? Agi food. etc.

The options that stat foods provide also opens up that Guardian elixir slot a little; normally, I really wouldn't consider Major Defense (550 armor) over Fortitude but if I got the same amount of stamina from food that Fortitude would give, maybe I WOULD spring for the additional armor.

Armor scrolls (+300 armor) still stack with flasks or your 2 elixirs so I'd remember to keep those if you get those as drops.

Farm content just food I guess, for progress a flask is by far the cheapest and the best.

It's certainly a lot closer for bears since they get so much out of agility and stamina (and mastery/agility are battle elixirs).

I didn't think to check last night, but if I remember correctly from the PTR, the Elixir of Major Fortitude is a guardian and the Elixir of Mastery is battle.

that's 422.5ish HP for just a few gold, for those fights where it will help but you wont need the extra 1.9 hours of 500 HP and 10 def rating.

When doing High King and Gruul last night, I used Major Agility/Major Fortitude with +STAM food...seems to be what I'll probably stick with for most fights, as it seems to balance everything pretty well.

On progression nights I will use the flask + STA food.

On farm nights, when I expect my elixirs to last longer, I will use major fortitude (+250HP - guardian elixir) and major agility (20 crit, 35 agi - battle elixir) and eventually some food.

IMHO the AC gear buffs made the defense elixir lose some of its appeal. It's still juicy but +250 HP of major fortitude is slightly better even on heavy physical bosses.
Elixir of mastery isn't worth it anymore. It was bareyl worth it when you could stack all possible effects (because it was ridiculously overpriced) ... but I certainly will not sacrifice an elixir slot for that one.

Str and Agi scrolls definitely stack with elixirs with +str or +agi on them. I haven't gotten a Stam scroll lately, but I'll test it out when I do. Tanks might want to throw scrolls on anyways, an extra 10 or 20 Str or Agi never hurt anyone.

Confirmed that Rum doesn't stack with food - you consumes the Rum but doesn't give you the buff. Sort of like trying to get drunk on the beer stateside

I'm using Major Agi and Major Fortitude for anything we're likely to one-shot or for some learning attempts, and Flask of Fortitude for other learning attempts (got a mark of the illidari yesterday, which is a free flask - might as well use it for something! :p )

Checked it last night, turns out you cannot stack rum with ANY food buff

Scrolls did not previously stack with class abilities (Stamina -> Fortitude, Armor -> Devotion Aura). Did that also change in 2.1?

I'm curious about scrolls now that people mentioned the 300 armor scroll. Let's say you use major agility and a fortitude elixir. You can then use +300 armor if I recall. What if I used major agility and a major defense elixir? Does the 550 armor stack with 300 armor?

What if I used +20 agility food, with a major agility elixir, and then tried to read a +20 agility scroll? If this all stacks, then you're looking at +75 agility, like having a grace of air totem in your pocket. Add a real grace of air totem and you're looking at 10-11% dodge for a druid.

I noticed that last night, but I was sure I had been able to use it with some strength food just after the patch, most confusing.

I'm mostly using a combo of major fort/Def with mastery or major agi as my battle elixir.

Although, due to me trying to get some discoveries with my alchemist alt (flask of fort was his 2nd, yay) I have also been giving that new earthen elixir a try since its damage reduction from both melee and magic makes it seem like a reasonable halfway between the other two guardian elixirs.
