Question about Destruction set pieces

Hi. I am having trouble with my gear specifically because I don't understand the spell hit, spell crit and spell penetration relationship. I am wondering on how destruction will give its best effort to 25 man bosses such as Gruuls, Magtheridon and Serpantshrine and beyond. I understand that I have to have about 15% spell hit but then that would result in a great loss of spell crit and damage. I already have lost a ton of spell damage, etc.

A link to my armory is: http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/ch...st&n=Voidheart

Boots

-As you can see the boots I am currently equipping are the best I can get for the crit.
-I currently own http://www.thotbott.com/i28670. I think that the crit is more efficient.
-The upgrade im looking forward to is: http://www.thotbott.com/i28517

I am thinking about putting +9 spell damage sockets on all the socket spaces. Im still not sure if I should put spell hit inside of them instead.

Trinkets

-My trinkets, I believe is efficient because a 0/21/40 destruction build requires alot of spell crit as well as hit.

-What I can get in the future are any of the 2 in replacement for any of the 2 I am equipping:

http://www.thotbott.com/i29370

Rings

-Here is another field which confuses me in terms of what to get. I have spell penetration on my band of guardian as well as crit. My other one is exalted Karazhan ring which has sufficient crit and damage.

-The ones I can look forward to recieve and replace for any of the other 2 is:

http://www.thotbott.com/i29370
http://www.thotbott.com/i28555
http://www.thotbott.com/i28753

Neckpiece

-Currently I have a nice crit necklace but i'm not sure if I should get the ones listed here:

http://thottbot.com/i28762
http://thottbot.com/i28530

-What I am wondering is which one will be more beneficial compared to the rest of my set?

Shoulders

-Currently I have the gladiator shoulders with +9 spell damage sockets but I am wondering if I should get the tier 4 shoulders and put +9 spell dmg sockets in them as well.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I am not sure if this is against your forum rules (from what I have read). I apologize if it is but please give me some feedback if your experienced with this field. I believe destruction is a great spec if your geared and minded for it. I hear it otherwise from about 99% of the people I spoke to about this. Its always good to test new aspects of the game. I do not shadowbolt. I am incinerate, immolate, conflag spec'd. Along with my other spells of course.

I appreciate all feedback, Thank you for reading!!

Hit is always better, point for point, than any other stat until you cap out at 16. Good rule of thumb is 1 Hit = 1.5 Damage = 2 crit. This is not a hard and fast rule, it will not always be true, but using it will give you a reasonablly close aproximation of what the stats are worth relative to each other.

As to spec, shadow based destruction is a great spec if you have the gear and the mind for it, as worth of a raid slot as any other warlock spec. Fire destruction, on the other hand, is inferior DPS wise to shadow destruction, affliction, and even felguard. That's just for personal DPS, if you factor in ISB uptime on any of the other builds than fire falls even further behind for overall raid damage.

Only spells that hit can crit and do damage. ;-)

Taking your chance to hit to 16% will do more to your dps than boosting your crit rating for the same percentage. Take a look at the "(another) Warlock DPS Spreadsheet" thread, enter your stats and play around with different items to see how much they would add to your dps.

Oh, and one other thing: hit rating hels with soulshatter. And a resisted soulshatter can have quite a huge impact on dps. Sometimes it even drops to zero

While he doesn't get much help from Shadow Priest and ISB, he may have some Scorch Mage around but not many SPriests. Fire Destro is competitive, at least more so that a FG build.

The bottom line to the OP is use the damage spreadsheet (this is key) and get more spell hit for bosses, the neck is a good place to get it, as well as in the Ring slot. Do a few more CE heroics to get exalted for that ring.
