As i noticed a huge amount of partial resists on SSC/EYE bosses in the last and this lockout, i looked for an addon to analyze mob resistances and came to:

Sadly my cat ate my screenshot but i can redo it next lockout and add it here.
Thing is:
I did 1700 shadowbolts/corruptions at Al'ar and got a total 46(iirc) full resists.
Now that really scared me, seeing that Al'ar is 73 and should have a 83% hit modifier i should have lost like 170 casts.
The total damage lost was ~4% in that fight, with an estimated 18 unmitigated SR - according to Addon.
88p CoS + 20p enchant => 126 SR on Al'ar

The numbers were higher in the start at a max 46 SR, but gradually went down with the amount of bolts fired and dam went up(shitload of resists in the first attempts)

Also i have gotten estimated 19 SR on Astromancer during 3 attempts/kill.

Looking at those values makes me question
1) If the addon is working properly - but i guess so atleast
2) If the 83% from Blizzard are correct for level 73
2.1) if Al'ar is level 73?!
3) If spell penetration gear or gems actually do have a higher value than everyone thinks

Seeing that, with a 1000dps flat, 4% lost would equal 40dps, which is 2x10 penetration gems - a pretty fair trade compared to 2x9dam?.


Anyone that has run some tests on this matter or knows a little more details on the mechanics? I'd really appreciate some input
And I'll post what i get for Vashj this lockout and SSC/EYE next reset.

It is pretty well known fact that mobs have some "innate" resists to all schools, around 8*(level difference). Those resistances cannot be overcomed at all.

The only boss that I've seen to have higher than normal shadow resistance is Vashj. Even with curse of shadows up I seemed to have gotten a lot of partials throughout.

http://www.lossendil.com/wws/?report...w&s=29,700&a=7 might help a bit, but I was on Coilfang Strider kiting and it's resistances seemed fine so the partially mitigated numbers seem lower than on Vashj herself.
