I'm kinda at a loss on which to use. I'm thinking the wraithtide is better for my survival build, but using cheeky's excel sheet, its like a 50dps drop :X so im not sure which to use, what do you guys think?

That seems about right, but don't forget these numbers are pre-mitigation. With a BM spec and my gear I see a 43 DPS difference. The biggest change is adding 0.14s more time to each Steady Shot cast (2.03 -> 2.17) this is a 7% decrease to the DPS from Steady Shot, even if both bows had the same base DPS (which they don't).

You just have another example of how weapon speed is the most important statistic to overall Hunter DPS.

Wait, wouldn't Steelhawk be a nice upgrade if you're BM, but a downgrade if you're Survival/Marks? Your results make sense Cheeky, but not his. Is the spreadsheet using the same rotation for all specs?

using the excel sheet and formating the shots, theres slight variations in it ><

It depends whether he's using a simple replacement rotation, or trying to slot 2 specials between autos. Switching (with my gear) to a 7/42/X build and using a "Max Specials" rotation I see the drop off between Steelhawk and Wrathtide to be just 11.8 DPS. So you can make up most of the loss in raw DPS by the fact that you have less clipping on about 1/2 of the auto shots. But for the points where you aren't using 2 specials per auto you still have a little more dead space.

I am assuming you were either using just a Steady or Priority rotation when you made the original check Souless. If that's your playstyle than the Wrathtide is a huge downgrade for you. If you routinely thread 2 specials then make sure theShot Rotation tab reflects that.

yea cheeky i did that, switched it up to max rotation, DPS shot up. Strangely though, testing on dr. boom, the wrathtide yields a higher DPS (yes i am ignoring multishot on the bots). just what happens in game or is it because i'm not clipping shots as much due to lag when i was using steelhawk>?

It could depend on a number of things.

How long are your tests?
What are you using to measure your DPS? WWS? SWStats?
What was your latency throughout?
Are you manually timing the rotation or are you using a macro? Did you screw up the rotation and clobber shots at any point?

both tests lasted about 5 minutes, each using cheeky's given rotations with max specials. each is done using a macro that is spammed throughout, latency was hovering around 80ish-100ish. DPS calculated using Recap.

How much does latency affect shot timing?
