[Priest] - Binding Heal Threat Generation

Now, with the patch the tooltip for this spell has been changed to reflect its low threat generation. I was curious to know, however, if anyone has the exact numbers on exactly how much threat it generates?

My assumption has always been that the amount it generated used to be excessive, and simply no longer is. That is, it is now just equal to what two flash heals would be. I do not however, have proof of that! Either way, its amazing.

I would like to know this as well - I tried looking elsewhere in the forums, and could not find anything. The patch notes suggest that it's always been a low threat heal, and the change was simply in the tooltip. Also, I found this old post by Vaneras (WoW BlueTracker:) which suggests that the threat may be lowered by 50% (i.e. threat being only on your heal, not your target's, or viceversa).

I'm in a heated discussion with my raid leaders, trying to convince them that Salvation on Holy priests on Morogrimm is useless, as we can fade and Binding Heal when Murlocs spawn...

If you are sitting with only two Paladin's then it is debatable if Salv is more important than Kings/Wisdom. A well timed fade to let the murlocs hit the AOE barrage first is usually sufficient.

But if there is a third Paladin, what other Blessing would you use?

Why would your raid leaders ever tell you what buffs you want? Shouldn't you ask for whichever buff suits your style?

Sometimes a raider fails to understand the mechanics of a particular fight, and so a little bit of raid-leader paternalism has to kick in. For instance, on our first night of Gruul's when only two of our Paladins were able to contribute I remember having an epic raidchat->tells->ventrilo argument with our recently recruited Enhancement Shaman trying to explain to him that he wouldn't be needing Salv because his first two targets were going to be taunt tanked, and by the time he got to Maulgar our tank would have a sufficient threat lead to stay ahead of him until 50%.

I read in another thread here that heals on yourself cause 200% threat, and heals on others cause 50% threat, so i assume it would be something to do with this.

If this is true i'd like to see some numbers on threat generation of POM, earthshield, and lifebloom aswell.

That's true in FFXI, but I've never experienced anything in WoW to reflect that being true. From my play, Binding Heal generates less threat than 2x Flash Heals. I am completely in love with the spell as a result.

The patch notes indicated that Binding Heal was always functioning as a low threat spell, but the tooltip didn't say so until now. The actual functionality of the spell was supposedly unchanged with the patch.

Now, whether or not it actually is a low threat spell as it's supposed to be...
