Some don't use KC in the macro due to the clipping it can cause. The thinking is that the clipping will lower one's dps to the point where its better to try and manually weave it instead. I've tried both ways and it clips either way so I just use it in my macro.

I used it in the same macro, the clipping never seemed significant, especially compared to not getting FI to proc for ages at the start of the fight or having it drop off. My losing a fraction of an autoshot is not significant compared to the group losing 3% damage.
Currently I use it in a separate macro, but only because with a g15 I can make a macro that continuously spams LB+KC regardless of whether I'm actually firing attacks myself or not - basically putting LB and KC on autocast.

Try the thread in my signature, the information there and on the related discussion thread will be far more helpful than "delete everything, cast these two commands, and you'll magically not lose DPS (right! hah!)"...

I just noticed in the PTR patch notes they're going to be removing clipping from auto shots due to casting instants... In other words instants aren't going to reset the autoshot cast timer. Anyone want to put any theories forward as to how this is likely to affect all current cast rotations currently created, or just which spec will benefit from this the most?

Where did you see that? I saw nothing in the notes about removing clipping from autoshots. It says instants will no longer lock up autoshot, i.e., the Kill Command bug.

From MMO-Champion - World of Warcraft Guides and Raid Strategies quotes from the Blizzard staff at World Wide Invitational Panels
Hunter
* The shot clipping will be removed from Steady Shot, you'll be able to use it without "interrupting" your autoshot. Hunters will be able to just smash their button.

That announced change is a WotLK change, not a PTR/patch 2.4.3 change. It would horribly imbalance hunters as a patch to BC, but everything will be rebalanced in WotLK. There's no need to freak out, and also little need to discuss it in threads built for discussion of the current game.

Hey,
my problem is that I'm not sure which shot rotation/macro fits the best for me.
My ranged attack speed is 2.00 with Serpent's Swiftness, +20 haste rating from my chest and 15% speed increase quiver.
My latency is around 100-200 ms.
With some haste effects my speed goes like this:
Aspect of the hawk proc (quick shots): 1.74
Rapid fire: 1.43
Berserking (full health): 1.82
Berserking & rapid fire: 1.30
I'm wondering should I use rapid fire and berserking at the same time, or does it ruin my shot rotation somehow? Also, what's the max haste / attack speed I should have?
Currently using this macro:
#showtooltip Auto Shot
/cast !Auto Shot
/cast [target=pettarget, exists] Kill command
/cast Steady Shot
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
Here's my armory profile: The World of Warcraft Armory
Cheers.

Shot rotation: Consult the spreadsheet.
Berserking + Rapid Fire: Use them separately.

My DPS blows, can you help? PvP'd out BM plus 56 haste = 2.17s cast and 150ms latency can't get above 550 dps. Tried most of the macros (Trinity-bars balks at Manito's for some reason). Hunters in Blues out DPSing me. Equally geared hunters (with way less haste) are posting 1300 DPS routinely. What am I doing wrong?
I love Surv-spec, but switched to BM for 100 DPS increase. Looking at Harbinger badge axe for another 53 haste, but not sure it's worth the three months of raiding it will cost? And will it fix the problem? On a Mac, so the spreadsheet won't run and can't run evaluations there. Am apoplectic and if my Lock didn't have a similar low-DPS issue (posting that next), I'd probably just play him instead.
Got in a tussle with a GM some months ago over Horde hitting for 8k in BG (where he implied Bliz employees were allowed to hack-stats), could he have de-hacked my stats? Or do I just suck at WoW? Appreciate any helpful suggestions. : )

Your AP is crap, your hit is crap, your weapon is too slow and your spec is wrong. I doubt you'd get 1300 dps with 1.4k AP and 45 hit, no matter what latency you have. Basically, use a spreadsheet and common sense to figure out what gear you should wear. Properly chosen PvE blues will usually outdamage epic welfare gear.

Thank you for those very helpful comments. Since I already said the spreadsheet(s) don't work on my Mac, that comment was worthless. Saying AP and Hit are crap is worthless without suggestions. Saying Blues are better than PvP epics is ridiculous BS. Criticizing the BM spec at my DPS will get you many fights with the dozens of others who recommended BM (and almost none recommending anything else). The only half-worthwhile comment was about the 3.1s weapon, but the only other available to me is 3.0s PvP or 20 DPS lower. Some constructive suggestions might be helpful? And if you can't help, go get a girlfriend instead of pleasuring yourself all the time.

You can get Excel working on a Mac using emulators, or you can run it on a friend's computer, or you can install OpenOffice, and try that version. Of course, all of these suggestions require actual work. Saying hit is crap means you should look for gear with hit on it, but I thought that was self-explanatory. Saying your spec is crap is nothing but the truth, since you're gimping yourself by not having points in Mortal Shots, Ferocious Inspiration, Animal Handler, and Go for the Throat. Sure, technically your spec qualifies as BM, since it has most of it's points in that tree, but it's far from what people use for raiding, which is 41/20/0. The weapon suggestion was perhaps the least important, since 3:2 sort of makes up for it, but you still have access to the Karazhan weapons and the badge bow. Karazhan is pugged on most realms I play on, which makes it a 2-3hr/week time investment.
Overall, I do believe my post was constructive, since it pointed out some of the problems which you would have figured out by yourself if you spent the time to browse these forums. Still, it's probably easier to just ask, without any previous reading. As for the suggestions in the end of your post, I don't see what my personal life has to do with your sucking at the game. Cheers!

Lets be nice here, please.
First, yes, change your spec BM Raid Spec. A .1 second drop in cast time would make a big difference to you in BM (merciless bow would be a solid upgrade). You should focus more on hit rating, you have enough rep to get a Kara ring, so go ahead and use that for raiding (a case in which a blue would actually be better for you). Also eat talbuk buff food in raiding. Macro should be something of the /cast /cast variety. Do more arena for s3 gear (good for hit). Change some of those +10 haste enchants - get +15 agility on your gloves and get the +34 ap, +16 hit rating glyph from Cenarion Expedition for your helm. Change your meta to a [Relentless Earthstorm Diamond]. Make sure that you raid with a decent pet, not some pvp scorpid or some other bad pet (ravager ideally; raptor or cat would be fine). That should be a good running start.

TY very much. I thought my 56 haste was giving 0.5 sec off cast, but missed the quiver bonus. So really, haste isn't so useful. Already replaced with glyph and got the ring. Can't see where re-specing dps would come from, but went BM/SV surefooted to get the hit up over 7%. Tested dps remains the same on non-elites so far, though. Can't spend 27k hp for another PvP bow with wotlk a few short weeks away. Can spend badges though, since badges will almost certainly be (relatively) worthless soon. The 5-point expertise rating for guns (dwarf) might make a difference, but no upgrade guns are obtainable. Might try to downgrade to Wolfslayer if it drops next Kara run (I actually passed on it last run and it was DE'd). Again, thank you so much for your very helpful comments. : )

The increased DPS in PVE from respeccing to a proper raid spec comes from from things like 3/3 FI (3% > 2% damage), Bestial Discipline (more focus for your pet means more pet DPS), Full Lethal Shots (more crit means more DPS), Go For the Throat (same as Bestial Discipline. More focus = more DPS), Rapid Killing for the reduced cooldown on Rapid Fire (A 3 minute cooldown instead of 5 minute cooldown means a hugely increased possibility of using it more than once in a fight and more shots = more DPS), and Mortal Shots (30% increased crit strike damage bonus)
Wolfslayer is in no way shape, or form a downgrade from a 3.1 speed weapon. With Serpent's Swiftness and quiver bonus alone it will dramatically outperform your slow weapon.

Hunter DPS
Hello...I'm a long time lurker and have benefited alot from these forums.
I'm currently the top DPS hunter in my guild...I'm BM; I avg about 1100-1200 in Hyjal/BT. This still feels a little low to me, so I'm looking for any advice. Here is my armory page:
The World of Warcraft Armory
I've been playing with The Savage's Choker (haste neck) vs. the SSO neck...need to spend time with Dr Boom before I make up my mind as to whether or not the consistent +haste is better than the AP proc. (Aldor)
Also...in case I have my PVP trinket or riding crop equipped, I am currently using Bloodlust Brooch and Hourglass. I am next up for DST whenever it decides to drop.
In raids i either flask with relentless assault or use elixir of superior agility/elixir of major mageblood (or draenic wisdom). I eat warp burgers, and carry haste potions. My pet is currently a ravager, although i have a windserpent in training.
For now, I am using Manito's 2-part macro...its the 3:2 that theoretically scales to 1:1 with procs/haste, etc.
After plugging myself into cheeky's spreadsheet, it seems that I would benefit most from a 1:1. Any thoughts?
Also, there is some argument in my guild whether or not the straight up Steady/auto rotations do more dps than weaving in arcane/multi. From what I have ready, it seems to me that arc may increase dps slightly, but costs more mana, and thus is less efficient. Some of my fellow hunters prefer to pot, and use the mana. Is this correct? Would I have more DPS if I used Arc shot or multi shot more?
Any advice or thoughts are greatly appreciated!

eilirris,
as this is a shot rotation thread I'll comment mostly on that, but basically you're at a pretty good speed to be using a 3:2 rotation with JUST steadies and autos. If you can time it right you can clip your auto with a multi/arcane rather than a steady shot (which would actually be more of a 1:1.5 rotation) but you'll waste so much mana doing this consistently that it's not worth it. SV hunters can get away with it because of Thrill of the Hunt but not really a BM hunter.
I'd stick with a regular 3:2 stead/auto rotation and blow haste pots when you can.
Dps wise, I think with your gear you should be able to do a bit more dps than what you're doing. I've got slightly better gear and put out about 1500 (which I also think is low). Look at your raid buffs and group composition to see if anything is wrong there and I'd definitely take the SSO neck over the savage's choker... no competition there. Your dual wielded weapons are great for your hit but don't provide much else in the way of improving your dps... see if you can pick up the halberd of desolation or the badge axe to replace it.

Thanks! I'm working on getting two umbral shivs from za, or of course halberd out of BT if any of it would ever drop! Our guild uses DKP, though, and since I recently picked up a couple of pieces it will be awhile before I have enough to compete for the halberd. I keep thinking I'll get the shivs faster than the badges for the axe. As you said, I have them mainly for the hit. I also have trollbane, which seems kinda useless, and vengeful gladiators axe, but I dont think that either of those would be any sort of improvement.
I recently picked up haste pots, and havent had a chance to use them yet. (Call me a nub, but I didnt know they existed!)
One of our officers thinks im handicapping myself by using the 3:2 (currently using Manitos) macro, instead of hand weaving. I've found, however, that using the macro leaves me better able to manage other abilities and perform well in raids. I gave manual weaving a try out at dr boom the other day....and I was pretty fail.
I'll stick with the SSO neck; I swapped back and forth for some dr boom tests and didnt get anything conclusive, but I was only testing it for about a minute each way, which prolbably didnt give the SSO enough time to proc.

S3 axe is a GREAT piece of work and you can probably save yourself a lot of farming for those shivs. There are FAR more useful stat points on the 2h axe even assuming you gem the shivs with epic gems.
I've noticed nothing but trouble trying to manually weave but then again I'm not the best around. Like you said, if you're staying alive and using your cooldowns better because you're paying attention not watching a shot time, I'd go with the macro:P

I am hoping someone can explain once and for all the effects of Haste and Weapon Speed on Macros and shot rotation and help me Max my DPS!!
I am a BM hunter who is deep into T6 content. My guild is clearing BT in 5-6 hours and MH in 4 each week and preparing for Sunwell.
I now have my 4 piece T6 set bonus (Gloves, Legs, Chest, Shoulders) and the following two weapons:
Bristleblitz Striker
201 - 374 Damage
Speed 3.00
(95.8 damage per second)
Crossbow of Relentless Strikes
182 - 339 Damage Speed 2.80
(93.0 damage per second)
With my current gear I have ZERO haste. (ATTACK SPEED = 2.17)
However, I do have some haste items in the bank that could be swapped in if needed.
I also have the receipies for the Bindings of Lightning Reflexes and the Shoulders of Lightning Reflexes.
The Shoulders would break my set bonus T6 but the binding would not... Current Bracers = Bracers of the Pathfinder.
I currently use the following macro to DPS (When standing still of course)
#showtooltip
/script UIErrorsFrame:Hide()
/cast !Auto Shot
/cast Steady Shot
/cast [target=pettarget,exists] Kill Command
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear(); UIErrorsFrame:Show()
I am concerned about my overall DPS. In this gear, I should be able to break 2k on a regular basis. However, I dont seem to be able to all the time...
My normal Ping during raids is between 175-225ms but my FPS kind of sucks. I know these can be factors....
Should I be working on a 3:2 rotation or a 1:1 Rotation?
If so, are there different macros used for each rotation?
I prefer a macro as I also help lead the raids and need to keep a close eye on the team.
I have found doing both jobs can be difficult if I need to stare at action buttons for a solid rotation while also speaking on vent etc. If there are better macros for different weapon speeds etc please teach me! (Manitos??? Anyone?)
Any help that can be provided would be great. I really enjoy these message boards and the info can be overwhelming...
I posted this here as my question is based on shot rotation with Haste as a dependance. However, if this shoudl be placed in the Hunter Help me Forum please move it or notify me...

Well you're further ahead than I am but here's what I can tell you:
1: to use the 3:2 macro, you'll do well to keep your attack speed below 2.1. I find that even with lower latency than you I can still chain steadies frequently at that speed using the 3:2 (manitou's) macro... though this might well be due to inconsistent lag. I find that something closer to 2.0 works better than 2.1 so go ahead and pack on a little haste gear to hit that speed.
That's really all you'd need to change I think. the beauty of the 3:2 rotation is that regardless of haste, your rotation shifts from 3:2, to 4:3, to 5:4 to 6;5, etc. until you eventually hit 1:1 at like 1.67 speed or something around there. in otherwords, one macro will take you from 3:2 to 1:1 as you recieve and lose haste procs throughout the fight.
No macro switching, nada.
Pop the bracers on and see what your speed becomes. if you need more haste... the za cloak or badge axe will help a lot (as you need that haste at this point). 2.05 is a good benchmark speed to shoot for I think, but ultimately play with whatever haste gear gives you the best results IN RAID!
Here's manitou's macro and how to set it up: Manito's Modified 3:2 Steady Shot Macros - INFORMATION STICKY

Edited your post for length. The standard DPS macro for BM is a 3:2 rotation. While it uses more mana than a 1:1 rotation it provides more DPS. The macro below is a cookie cutter 3:2 macro.
