SPriest Gear selection..

I am trying to figure out if i should just wait on trying to get 2 pieces of t5 till Druid / Warrior tanks get it or actually push for it.
Option (A)I figure -50% casting time with the meta socket is semi-nice. (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=25893)
Option (B) Or just get the PvP 1 +12 spell damage - So i can just socket 2 pieces of gear with topaz
(http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28557)
+ ~10 spell damage from the extra spirit puts it ~ equal to Spellstrike - Set bonus..
But I get the chance to gain 150 mana vs 92 for 10 seconds

Spellstrike - 146 spell damage vs head / pants of t5 with option B - 138 vs Head / Pants option A - 123 ( ignoring the ~+10 damage from improved spirit with the spirit on this set or the ~4 mp5 )

Assuming meta gem proc ~ 40 damage ( puts option (A) at 163 )
Assuming spellstrike proc ~ 13 damage ( puts spellstrike at 159 )

So here is the question is the "Side Grade" worth it enough to push (ignoring the sta / int increases). Trying to get the 150 mana back proc? Pretty much means +50 mana everytime it procs while casting MF. Should mean i will be able to last alot longer. ( don't know the proc rate of this.. maybe someone does.. )

Helm is probably the only true upgrade.. Probably can get away with shoulders / helm or helm / pants and not lose too much +damage. My guild still hasn't killed Vashj yet but I can't see that being too far down the path. We haven't had our top raiders in the past 2 weeks.

Our guild uses Loot council so pretty much i got to make a legitimate reason why 2 pieces of t5 going to me >>> going to 1 of my druid / warrior tanks

Good luck and god speed, it's simply not by any stretch of the imagination worth pushing for in my humble (Put up with Niki and Bekah) opinion.

It's a very slight upgrade that doesnt' do much. Hard to compare to *edit* your warrior/druid upgrade since I don't know their gear, but I'd imagine they get more than 8 damage out of it.

**EDIT**I'm certain it's better in a pure t4-->t5 upgrade path to give it to the druids/warriors. I'm not clear on your druids/warriors gear selection atm, so I don't know what set bonuses they might be stranding or pieces they might be replacing, and thus don't feel comfortable saying "Yes you should give it to tom". In general, there's no reason to give it to the spriest, but that's in general. The original question was specific =P

I made some theorycraft at one point, my conclusion was that getting 4/5 T5 (remove shoulder piece) would net a slight dps upgrade and a big up in sustainability (+ added stamina). Comparing our gain to druid / warrior, it was clearly more beneficial to the raid to let them loot those pieces.

T4 --> T5 for our warriors / druids

I find the stamina to be very useful when accidents happen. For example I lived through a hunter pulling aggro on a Al'ar bird and blowing it up right next to me. Dead priests do no damage =P

Even thought T5 might not be much better than spellstrike/shadoweave pure damage wise, I am still picking it up for the extra stats. Plus the 2pc proc goes off quite a bit. Usually 7-10 times per encounter. That's a good bit of mana.

Without knowing your tanks gear though it is hard to make a call on who should get it first. I am just saying you should get it.

It's not worth breaking your spellstrike set for the T5 pants alone, but with T5 helm it's definitely an upgrade.

Regarding loot council, there's a lot that goes into the distribution decision that's not based on how much of an upgrade it is. Factors like attendance, raid performance (Do you die a lot? Do you use your consumables? Do you keep Vampiric Touch and Pain up?), and whether or not you've recently received loot also matter. If you're trying to build a case for why you should receive these items, all I can say is that both pants and helm together would be a very good upgrade from spellstrike, and the helm alone is also great.

Yea I am part of the stupid council bullshit atm. 99.5% of the time goes Tanks ---> Everyone else is pretty much the stance normally.

Attendance / Performance / ( yea I do die ) my amazing 8111 fully raid buffed life ftw?/ my group never complains about mana... so I assuming that is going well.. my DPS is ~850-900 I blame most of this on being EST on a PST server..
