His comment was an attempt to make you go out and find the answer for yourself. The answer is: BM hunters have more abilities that increase the damage of their pets. This is what makes the poison tick so hard.

The other thing I find annoying about my scorpion as MM spec, is that his miss rate on the poison is quite high. Trinket popping can still get the first stack into the 400-500s, but it will often fall off because he has such a crappy hit rate. Still a very competitive pet though.

Actually they have exactly 1 ability that I don't have that's under their control.

Unleashed Fury, Beastial Wrath, and Animal Handler are all things that no marks hunter will have that has a direct boost to pet damage.

Marks hunter has a happy pet, and a trinket to modify pet damage. that's 1.25 x pet damage.

Beast has 1.25 x 1.2 x 1.5 x pet damage, as well as AP trinkets, AND + to hit for the pet so stacks won't fall of as easily. This is not hard to figure out..
