[Hunter] Crit and AP in PvP.

At what point is crit better than RAP? Currently as 43/18 I sit at about 9k hp, 2029 RAP self buffed, with 22.50% chance to crit.

If I spec'd 31/30 I'd be sitting at 27.45% chance to crit, PLUS I haven't even gotten my Marshal's Chain Belt yet, which is even more agility than a 8 agi gem'd Felstalker Belt, and has even more crit, I'm estimating i'll be at 28% chance to crit, but I lose all the RAP from Master Marksman and Careful Aim. I haven't done the math yet to figure out how much RAP I'm losing but I need to know if 31/30 is worth it because of the crit. Plus, I don't have Felfury Gauntlets yet, or 15 Agility enchanted to my gloves because I'm waiting, I also don't have the Hourglass of the Unraveler, so I'm hoping to push 29% chance to crit with all of it in the end.

Basically what I need to know is at what point does Crit become more important than RAP? Is the sacrifice worth the gain? Thanks.

To get any answer to that I think the following question has to be answered first: How do you define when Crit is more important than RAP (or vice versa)?

This isn't PvE, where we usually model fights as perpetual (and without too much movement or stuff like that), and then compare DPS based on that.

Look, Lactose, we'd rather you didn't eradicate the whole human race.

IMO (last time I PvP'ed for effect when honor decayed) crit is always preferable to AP. Not only in PvP, but particularly in PvP. It's a philosophical point, not mathematical. As long as you get the gear pieces that emphasize the right stats, and gem them up with crit, while selecting pieces with crit on them instead of AP, you will follow that ideal. You can never go wrong with Agi gems either. If you Arena with a paladin, that's a better idea anyway.

Yup, but then again I wouldn't go full on crit (ie all 8crit gems)... there's definteily a balance you want to seek. The way I see it, Resilience may nerf your crit rate, but it doesn't nerf your AP & how hard you hit each time. ATM, I'm at 1750RAP & 27.17% crit self-buffed with a 0/44/17 spec and am very satisfied with it.

In my view you would be stacking crit to overcome resilience.

Keep in mind Resilience also reduces the damage dealt on critical hits.
