Whenever I try to import from the Armory, it gives me a message saying "No itemdata available". Any idea what causes this, or how to fix it?

You need to set it to low, close the sheet and reopen it. At least that worked for me when I had that problem at work.

However, with the new version not working for the many Mac users its extremely frustrating for us. If there is anyway you can put the Mac fix as a "need it yesterday" priority it would be a huge deal for a lot of your spreadsheet users. Having to wait for you next version with other fixes is really waiting far too long in my opinion. If you know how to fix it and can find the time to release a quick bug fix asap, it would be huge for many loyal users... just my .02 and frustration speaking.
Is your Mac problem just the Armory Import or are you having more problems than that? If its just the Armory Import, I'm not quite sure what I can do unless someone knows of another standard way to import from a webpage that should work with both.

If its more than that, I need to know what else isn't working as my impression was that was the only Macro that fails (besides importing Talents from past sheets which should work from now on, but not from previous versions to this one given the remodeling).

Go to your profile on the wow armory in a webpage. If that's got an error, that's your problem.

Like this one...which has been showing on my own profile for most of the holiday.

"Character Data Unavailable

It seems like the character you are trying to view is not currently available on the Armory. Since the Armory data is periodically updated, this character needs to have been active recently for detailed character data to show up. Character profiles that have been updated recently may display this message as a result of high server load."

So, I guess the answer is to ask Blizzard what's up with the Armory lately...

It is some collums where you can compare the +hit, unbuffed crit and buffed crit from the gear you have copied and your "saved dps" so you allso can compare gear on hit and crit because on some fights a high crit procentage can be better than a higher average DPS
I didn't really use that page much. Did it do that at one time?

I was actually thinking about some day modifying the Item Compare sheet to do something like that. Where instead of comparing 2 sets of gear as it does, you would always be comparing it to the "Saved DPS" gear. Essentially rewriting the macros to automatically copy your gear when you press "Save DPS" to Gear Set 1 and either linking the cells in Gear 2 to your current gear selections or write a macro to import your gear selections there on demand (the latter which would also allow you to change the gear further just on that page). Then you could have columns of stats that compare the stats on the 2 sets of gear.

A few versions back, someone posted their remodeling of the Gear Buffs page which included a bunch of added stats comparing current gear to saved gear. I didn't go with it because I thought things got cluttered at the top of that page with all the additional statistics. Still, I liked the thought a lot and was thinking the Item Compare page might be the perfect place for an expanded comparison breakdown.

I guess I'm not sure how much that page is being used in its current form and whether such a change would take away from how it is being used now. Either way, that isn't in my immediate plans. But if someone wanted to adopt that sheet and make it more useful, I'd probably let them take control of the ascetics and I'd be willing to devote some time if they needed help with the macro work. Frankly, if Dinesh wanted to continue what he started with the Gear Upgrades page, I'd be more than willing to let him essentially develop that sheet too. I think both sheets could be more useful tools, but given they aren't essential, they are lower on my "want to do" list.

It's not to say I might not do simple additions here or there, but I'm not expecting to have the time to completely revamp them in the immediate future.

No the problem is that the "Save DPS" button and the "Import from another sheet" button both give errors. The Armory button doesn't even click, instead it gives me handles so I can move it or resize it.

The Save DPS button gives the following error:

"Run-time error '57121'

Can't exit design mode because Control 'CommandButton1' cannot be created."

The Import From Another Sheet button gives this error:

Compile error:

Can't find project or library (afterwards it opens up a whole bunch of windows that i have to close)

Again, thanks for your help with this.

RE: changing default buffs, I think what would really help with this would be to move buffs so that all the buffs from the same class are in the same place. The inconvenience of having to check for buffs everywhere was really driven home when our one enhancement shaman mentioned that he was quitting the game recently.

If the buffs were organized in a way that made it easier to find I think it would fix some of the problems with buffs defaulting to on and people missing them.

As far as making a standard set of default buffs, I'm not sure it would be so helpful. If everyone who used the sheet was in a serious raiding guild that has the attendance and players to get an optimal set of buffs every time, default buffs would make sense. But a lot of people, and especially the people that are having problems with the buffs that default to on, don't really have the same set of buffs.

And I'm taking it that these worked previously. Hmm...I was surprised when someone said they had to download that file to get the other Macros to work. It may be that I'll need to save a separate Spreadsheet that just doesn't have that button in it to fix the problem for Macs.

I guess my next question...are all the buttons broken for all Mac users? Or are some Mac users not having issues except the armory? It shouldn't be that hard to save a version with the Armory Import Macro just cut out for Mac users.

Or if you want to try to fix it before I can put a copy together, you can try the following:
1) Cut the Import from Armory button. (Maybe this is all you need to do, not sure.)
2) Go to Macro -> Visual Basic. Where you see a list of sheets and such, just remove the armoryimport macro.
3) Cut the two forms.

It might be that just having the commands using the missing libraries in any of the macros is causing the problem.

All of the old versions of the spreadsheets work fine on my Mac's (to answer your question). I tried to do what you said above, but I'm having trouble. I found the Macro > Visual Basic > ArmoryImport, but I can't find away to delete it, cut it, etc. I'm very good with the computer, but not an Excel user.

I just checked some of the other buttons on other pages of the current spreadsheet and i'm getting the same error messages as I listed before. I have downloaded the spreadsheet a couple of times as well. Maybe a Mac user with more knowledge of Excel can post some suggestions or solutions??

Tried that, it doesn't say remove or delete or anything similar on right click for me. All its says is: View code, Export properties, Insert, and Hide (and help). I went to the Properties window and the Object Browser window and couldn't delete it from there either.

I'm in the process of creating a separate spreadsheet without the Armory Import feature for those users having problems. The new version will be called 2.3.2.7NA (for no Armory). As soon as its verified that this version is problem free with Excel on a Mac (as macros go), I'll get that sent out for public consumption.

Basically, the only difference is the elimination of the Wow Armory Import feature. Henceforth, I guess there will be 2 versions as there seems to be compatibility issues with Macs (given the lack of MSXML support within Excel).

You should use the x.x.x.xNA versions if you fall into one of the following groups...
1) Use a Mac.
2) Are having problems with the main version. (Not including such things as "No Item Data." which is a problem with WoW's webpages)
3) Open Office users. (Although I'm not sure you would have a problem this the other version either as VB macros just seem not to do anything in general).

Hemo 110% to 120% change?

I don't know if some body hasn't noticed it yet as i don't see it mentioned here the last couple of days, but 2 days ago I noticed on the PTR the change for Hemo not being at 110% rather than 120% and still 42 for each charge.

Is this a bug or the new adjusted value of Hemo, and if yes will it be implemented into the next spread sheet soon?

Trash VS Boss

First of all, many thanks for this wonderful spreadsheet. Without it, I would still be evaluating upgrades based on Shadowpanther's rankings, and still be hovering around the 800dps range instead of the 1200dps range. Thank you for opening my eyes.

Now, that aside, I would like to maximize my DPS through all aspects of the raid, and was wondering what the impact of hit rating was on fighting trash mobs. I've got 26.05% hit rating in my raid gear as combat fists, and its giving me great results with buffs and whatnot on boss mobs, but is all of that hit rating really necessary when squaring off against a L70-72 elite? I've been alternating sets of gear between a trash kill set that trades hit rating for crit and armor penetration. The results have been favorable, but it may be because of lower armor values on trash, as well as a more reckless attitude toward killing the trash mobs.

Can anyone clarify the value of having a high hit rating against trash mobs, vs focusing on other stats to raise DPS while fighting trash?

First off, the boss miss rate is 28%.
For trash, it depends on Level.
70 = 24%
71 = 24.5%
72 = 25%

Generally speaking, hit rating will still be very powerful right up to the hit cap for trash. I'd guess if the spreadsheet is suggesting one piece of equipment over another, it's still probably the best piece for trash. Of course, there is a checkbox to give estimates for 70 Trash. Cell R12 on the Talents sheet has that option. This would give you a more accurate estimate anyway. You might want to adjust the Armor value when you do so, probably drop it down to 5800 or so to get a reasonable estimate for trash.

Of course, if you exceed the above values, you are certainly doing the right thing but switching in gear that overall is close in DPS, but which has less hit rating in exchange for other useful stats, as the extra hit rating (in excess of the cap) does nothing for you.

Ah, the new talents setup looks quite decent.
A bit colorful, but easier to ensure you have all talents entered.
The boss armor helps as well.

Silly armory still won't show precision, so 17.88+5: 22% hit.
And we got a balance druid recently so i'd be on 25%. Quite close to the boss cap, not bad.

A few small things though.
1 : The "save dps" button on the gear sheet needs to be 4-5 pixels wider for Mac, as it's putting the word "dps" on the next line.
2 : Expose weakness modelling could use improvement. As it's related to the hunter's crit and hit as well. Perhaps an expected uptime % could be added? I suspect it's listed as 100% currently? This will almost never be the case.
3 : On the talents page, it says "is target poisonable" (mutilate only). Wouldn't this apply to deadly poison as well, for offhand enchants?

Thank you for the heads up on that option (I dont remember seeing it in 2.3.2.5, but its there in 2.3.2.7). And I confirmed it on the hit rating thing. Hitting the hit rating cap allows me to shed a few pieces that are heavy on hit rating for a few more crit pieces, and still maintain the hit cap, but boost overall DPS. Now if I can just keep our Oomkin hitting everything in creation with her improved faerie fire, I can shed even more hit gear

I have added functionality to save/restore/manage multiple talent builds for my use. It's not incredibly full featured, but supports the basics and allows me to compare DPS quickly based on a few specific builds I use. Would this feature be something that other would like and use or should I continue to use it only for myself?

Please send me a copy, I'd be very likely to include that.

And going backward through posts...

Actually in 2.3.2.5 there was a checkbox for whether the mob was a boss or not. In fact, most of the pulldowns are just all the little checkboxes that existed in prior versions. I sorted them into 2 groups and tried to rename them to better explain what they actually did.

Zurgat
1) Save dps button - not a problem will do that.
2) Expose Weakness - I recall some theorycraft that put the uptime in the mid-90%. That said, I haven't changed the modeling of that skill. I'll add it to my list of formulas to get a "relook". If I recall correctly, it was modeled as 100% when I gave it a passing glance.
3) Yes, it's on my "to do" list to also make that apply to all poisons. For now, that is the equivalent to the little checkbox that was next to Mutilate in the old sheets so people could see the difference in damage for poisoned vs. non-poisoned mobs.

Garren
Yeah, I agree. At the very least, I can add the class that gives said buff in brackets or parentheses until I find the time to give that page a bit of a remodel. I'd like all the pertinent information to appear on screen without scrolling, or at the very least with minimal scrolling. This probably means creating a separate sheet for buffs which I think would be more user friendly than how it stands currently.

Other things...
I've figured out the issue with the Band of Devastation not showing as an Upgrade. It will require a little minor re-coding of the upgrade macro to fix. There is an issue with "Unique" items (which Rings and Trinkets qualify). Essentially, the 2nd item on the item list will never get searched as an Upgrade (or I believe for Gems, the item past the first enabled Unique gem). I'll probably have to dump the itemlist into an array at the start and then search the array instead of the list to fix it. This has apparently been broken since the time Rings and Trinkets were made unique.

For those interested in the programming aspect...here's the problem...

The Ring List...
Band of Anguish
Band of Devastation
Band of Eternity 1st
etc...

So, the Upgrade goes to the first item, Band of Anguish...which changes the item list as Band of Anguish is no longer selectable.

The Ring List...
Band of Devastation
Band of Eternity 1st
Band of Eternity 2nd

So for next item it checks the 2nd item, Band of Eternity 1st, see how Band of Devastation gets skipped? Things are okay after that.

The Ring List...
Band of Anguish
Band of Devastation
Band of Eternity 2nd

As it checks for the 3rd item on the list...Band of Eternity 2nd...

Using the latest version of the spreadsheet, putting in 2 vile / 2 imp poisons is giving me more dps improvement than putting all 4 points in either one(which was how I was always speccing) with WF MH, DP OH. Pretty minuscule but still.

The two talents stack with each other in a multiplicative way. More chance to keep your DP stack, DP stack ticking for more. Think of it this way:
Say you had 10 points to put into 2 categories:
0 * 10 = 0
1 * 9 = 9
2 * 8 = 16
3 * 7 = 21
4 * 6 = 24
5 * 5 = 25
etc..

This isn't the exact scenerio with poisons.. but same principal applies. Putting points in vile points (your DP ticks higher) makes Imp Poisons more valuable (you want to keep that higher stack from falling off even more). Putting points in Imp poisons (DP less likely to fall off) makes Vile Poisons more valuable (you want that steady DP tick to be stronger).

A good way to add additional information like this is to add comments to the cells which, on mouse hover, show extra information.

Alternatively, for something more comprehensive you could include a "source class" column next to the buff names and then use an autofilter on that column to allow someone to easily hide all buffs/debuffs except from the class or classes they are interested in. It's a little more complicated than just a sort by class, but it is also more flexible: the buffs/debuffs can still be sorted by type but filtered by class.
