There are some mobs that have higher than 5% crit chance. Just joking around playing with Teremus in Blasted Lands with 500ish defense at level 70, he crit me more than a few times.

Edit: Or maybe its just Teremus-- I'm half tempted to go do it again but the account with my warrior on it is no longer active.

French people have a higher chance to be critted. Possibly due to aggravating the mobs with their devil-may-care Gallic ways and stripy jumpers.

Just adding in another observation of this. One of the ogre trash in Gruul's lair critted me for 6.1k yesterday, with me being at 521 def.

Is it possible to be crited by Hydross and one of spawn (opposite res) when having 496def without druid being MC or sitting? Can't paste now any screen or combatlog to prove it but there was a hit like 15k with 100% mark and 5k on spawn.

I'll throw my hat in the ring and say that I was critted by Curator yesterday (yes, I know. lolololol Karazhan). I want to say it was about 5 times in 3 or so pulls. I found it to be really odd, as I was told from a few different sources that 490 Defense was supposed to make me "Crit Immune". Granted, he didn't crit me often, but it did happen.

That's highly unlikely. Are you sure you weren't crushed instead of crit? It's also possible for you character screen to say you have 490 defense but not actually be crit immune (it rounds up).

Yeah, turns out I read my combat log incorrectly. They were crushing blows. I use the SCL mod, and I had misread what (C) denoted.

EDIT: Gah. Now I've got 489 Def since making this post. How does this work?. Before picking up my Violet Eye ring, I had 490 def. Upon getting it, it was a flat +13 def rating. I subtracted 8 Def rating when swapping out some gems, so I should still be up 5 from before. However, I'm now at 489 =/. Something tells me that Blizzard's character pane is rounding something somewhere. Perhaps this is the root of our problems?

I got crit tonight by an Ashtongue Defender during Shade of Akama with 547 defense and was scratching my head as to why. I can't believe I overlooked this, time to unbind that key.

Just the usual combatlog lag. The attack right before 'You gain Shield Block' probably already counted as the first blocked attack on the server or something like that.
I wonder if this topic will ever die. The legend will probably live on, just like Onyxia's Deep Breath.

I can't see the log (lossendil not responding?) but you used to be able to get crushed through shield block if you used a consumable that placed your shield on your back or your shield wasn't in your hand. It's that or latency.

To the 15k hydross crit with defence capped, it's not possible, provide a screenshot or a WWS AND prove that you never sat.

That has been fixed, you can now block while your shield is still on your back.

I agree that there needs to be better proof than 'Hey man, I got crit!'. Proving that you never sat down is going to be pretty hard though.
