[Mage] Arcane Missles... How many exceptions?

While perusing simulation output on AM spam, I noticed an aberation:

The equivalent +dmg cost for losing 1% spell hit seemed absurdly small.

After going over the code, I realized that I am probably not modeling AM correctly. It is already a "strange" channeled spell..... and it seems that when 2.2 arrives it will have even more "exceptions" encoded.....

Or perhaps when 2.2 arrives we can say that AM behaves more consistently?

I know that it can crit unlike MindFlay and DrainLife.

I do NOT know if spell hit is used at the initial application or on each missle volley. But after looking at sim output I'm inclined to believe that it per volley. (My code currently only checks on the initial cast which is why the loss of spell hit is not a huge dps loss in my simulations.)

I know that -sometimes- each missle can proc events normally reserved for "on cast" situations.

Would folks mind chiming in on known AM "special cases"?

I would assume that it calculates it per missile. I have never had an entire barrage resisted, but it's not terribly uncommon to see a random missile resisted in the middle of the spell.

Spell hit is definitely calculated across each missile. I've had numerous missiles be fully resisted after the first has hit. Until patch 2.2, these resists also don't proc [Eye of Magtheridon] which is annoying.

Proc'ing "on spell hit" events on every missle seems a bit imbalanced.

Do you know if they will also reduce the proc-rate in some fashion?

I wouldn't really call it imbalanced, AM is really a pretty crap spell right now, and the proc advantages are what could turn that around. If you're interested in going a little more in depth on it check out the last 4 pages or so of [Mage] How Can Arcane Damage Work?
