Recently all we have accomplished in the world of hunter threads is to create three new ones. The OP of this thread has a good idea, but without the support of stickies I don't see it helping much.

I am willing to compile a single hunter thread based upon the work of those more experienced and better at math than myself. I read and respond to a majority of the posts in each of the 7? hunter threads already. I'm willing to update and monitor a hunter mega thread as well, but I'm not willing to undertake such a task without the support of a sticky.

You could have one thread for each class, and in that thread one post for each spec as appropriate. I would suggest locking the stickied thread so that only the OP could update it as needed. Of course you would want links to a few of the pertinent threads where posting was allowed. For instance I would link Cheeky's Spreadsheet thread as it is deserving and needing of it's own thread, and the Hunter: Help Me Please thread for the questions that will still come. The max DPS thread is a finite thread, and when the "final" results are in, that thread can go away until the next patch or expansion.

The only problem I can think of is that you would need a place to post things that need to be added or ammended in the sticky. With that in mind you could leave the thread unlocked and A) give the OP rights to delete posts in that thread once they are no longer needed, or B) request the current moderators maintain open contact with the OP's and delete posts that are no longer needed.

Omegatron has arrived.

We are looking at a Wiki, so such posts would a bit useless.

For hybrid classes, multiple threads would be necessary anyway(Enhancement discussion would quickly drown out Elemental/Restoration if there was a single Shaman thread)

a decent addition

A common problem with these threads, is that people that want the general info, but also want to see beyond it, read the first post, the last 1-2 posts and then post something that had been asked a million times but not agreed upon enough to be put in the main post. I think first of all, each "front page" of those threads should have a "last updated", as in what date/post you should jump to when you read the thread. In big letters, so people realize how much they need to read before they ask something. Then it would be nice if the main threads would be updated moer often - even if something was not agreed upon as a facct, it should stil be included there as "some consider this and that as better, and it had yet to be proven or disproven as optimal". Including such information rather than neglecting it "becuase it's not agreed upon" causes a LOT of people to keep asking the same redundant questions that usually don't even have a concrete answer anyway.

Right now, in my opinion, the new guy that comes to the forums will read the first post and the last 2 posts and will lose any information included in between, which both hurts him for losing out on that information as well as hurting further discussion by having the good discussions that try to actually figure out something new drown under the questions that keep repeating themselves.

The problem is Galz, the main post is supposed to be the collected FACTS... if people want to read on and see the current debates that's their choice. If they refuse to properly search threads for questions, that is their fault and eventually an EJ member will penalize them. Such is the system most of these threads used. However, I'll update my thread with a "last updated" just for you!
