I call it vindication for the rest of us. They mocked us and laughed at us for getting our spirit gear, now look who is on top.
P.S. /envy humans. Also, this item is ridiclously sick: [Teeth of Gruul]

Well, I'm currently in the quest for a new offhand, and my original plan was to get the ROS offhand, [Touch of Inspiration], but with the recent change to spirit I'm not so sure. I did the math, but it seems pretty outlandish, and I'm embarrassed to even post it. Can anyone more gifted with these new formulas help?
The offhand I'm putting it up against is the [Scepter of Purification] from Archimonde.
Without an offhand, I have 509 int and 441 spirit, unbuffed.
From what I found out through trying to work it out with me and a friend, come 2.4 the [Scepter of Purification] will be infinitely better. However, I got something to a difference of 12 mp5 between the two. So...I figure the formula I used may have been invalid, or I may have figured out some of the numbers wrong.
So, any help?

My calculations seem to say that [Scepter of Purification] > [Voodoo Shaker] > [Touch of Inspiration] after 2.4.
Personally, I feel that the Scepter is better as it is currently, but it's a lot closer than after the patch where the Scepter seems to considerably stronger.
That said, I don't think it's as big of a regen difference as you suspect. Considering 30% OO5SR, I'm calculating the Scepter to be roughly 85 Healing/19.8 Mp5, whereas the Touch of Inspiration should come in around 64 Healing/19 Mp5. The Voodoo Shaker wins the regen battle at around 64 Healing/20.8 Mp5.
This includes the contribution from both Int (0.334 @ 30% OO5SR) and Spirit (0.565 @ 30% OO5SR) with roughly T5/T6 level base Spirit/Int values. Unless I got something wrong in my formula.

That would indeed be a likely and valid result when calculating mana regeneration outside the 5 second rule, since it seems that with the new formula 1 Spirit will give slightly more than 1 MP5 while not casting.
However, obviously at least part of your cast time, you will be inside the five second rule, generating less. Assuming your intellect stays unchanged, the [Scepter of Purification] would provide 25*sqrt(509)/21.45 = 26.3 MP5 OO5SR.
The average amount of regeneration Spirit provides will depend on the time you spend outside the 5 second rule, which depends on the fight. I often use 70% inside 5 second rule as a rough estimate, but it depends strongly on the fight and your style of healing.
You can calculate the amount spirit supplies on average as follows:
Average regen in Mp5 : (1-C)*R + C*0.3* R = (1 - 0.7 C) * R
Where:
C = amount of time you spend inside the 5 second rule (70% is 0.7, etc.)
R = regeneration outside 5 second rule
For example for 70% I5SR time and 26.3 MP5 OO5SR, that will give an average gain of 13.4 MP5, Which is indeed better than the [Touch of Inspiration] when also considered the roughly 22 extra healing the [Scepter of Purification] will provide.

Scepter will be vastly superior in 2.4, not only should you get more regeneration (as it gets a 15% bonus on Spirit), it will also give you even more +healing.
The days of Heal & MP5 offhands are long gone in the current incarnation of Spirit regeneration in 2.4.
Regarding the math your looking at the Scepters regeneration being roughly around:
26MP5 (OO5SR) / 8MP5 (I5SR) - all unbuffed.
Throw in modifiers like Kings, SoR and it goes from being roughly equal in terms of regeneration to being superior, this is on top of it yielding a higher base healing of +13 and an extra +7 when buffed from Spirit->Healing.

I realize this is a bit backwater for most of the other priests here, but how will this affect Nightstaff of the Everliving? Will it gain any ground against LJ/VS, or are we still looking at a significant deficit?

Light's Justice/Voodoo Shaker.
From what I can see, by taking the [Nightstaff of the Everliving] over [Light's Justice] and [Voodoo Shaker], you get
-1 stam
-7 int
-99 healing
+10 spirit
That's pretty brutal. Depending on where your int is, the spirit changes probably actually nerf the staff further.

Have anyone tried to estimate benefit of good Spell Haste gear if you think about OO5SR and new spirit regen model? Can you modifide your healing and benefit it the way you really could be more OO5SR, regen more mana and heal more? Healing style ofc depends always fight and your job too... Its a bit hard to estimate it - strait calculation will help only partially. But if anyone have tried, Id like to hear. There are anyway lots of priests and guilds that can afford Spell Haste gears now.

I might be missing something, but on PTR, CasterWeaponSwapper is not currently working. I start with my +healing weapon, and it will swap in my Spellsurge weapon and the proc activates, but my Spellsurge weapon doesn't swap back out through the internal cooldown. I'm guessing it probably has something to do with Blizzard's change to the combat log as that change has affected many combat related mods.
I checked for an update to the mod and didn't see a recent one. My fellow priest is also experiencing this. Has anyone successfully used CWS on the PTR?

Does anyone know if a healer cloak drops in Sunwell? The only new healer cloak that I could find is via badges and it inferior to the Cloak from Tier 6 trash.

Hello & well pleased to address a discerning crowd.
Wanted to discuss the comparative merits of some footwear:
[Boots of the Divine Light]
[Archbishop's Slippers]
[Boots of the Long Road]
I am currently using item # 3. In my mind, the Slippers are more likely a downgrade than even a sidegrade and I left to debate the -substantial- stamina boost provided by item #2 and a considerable influx of + to heal vs. the equally substantial loss in mp5.
Fully buffed, I stand at 9.5K health (10.3K with Imp). Similarly buffed, I am at ~ 320 it5sr. So far, i have refrained from switching.
Your thoughts/input?

Personally, I find [Soul-Strider Boots] to be the strongest all-around boot options currently. Although it's pretty close in terms of comparison with Archbishop's Slippers and Boots of the Divine Light, the additional Spirit edges them ahead from my point of view. I'm not really concerned about a bit of Stamina in general, and have the Boots of the Divine Light as a backup should I desire some more HP.

Considering how much more valuable int gets in 2.4, it's hard to make a case for Soul-Strider Boots vs BotDL anymore, even if you don't care for stamina. 27sta, 10 int vs 2 heal 9 spi, I know what I'd pick. I don't think I'd have much success in convincing the people in charge of gems that I need a Crimson Spinel for a SSC drop either.

I would value 9 Spirit substantially higher than 10 Int after the patch. Don't forget that the value of Spirit is also increased.
Soul Strider boots end up being: 19 Int, 43 Spirit, 93 healing
Boots of the Divine Light are: 29 Int, 34 Spirit, and 90 healing
The practical buffed impact for me after the patch would be that (calculating for ~30% OO5SR regen, BoK, SoR, etc.) 10 Int is worth 3.2 Mp5, whereas 9 Spirit is worth 8.8 Mp5 and 3.4 healing, an advantage of 5.6 Mp5 and 6.4 healing overall. That is a rather substantial margin from a pure healing stats perspective, leaving the only real reason to take the Boots of the Divine Light as Stamina.
If people don't want to give you gems for a best in slot item just due to its origin, it's hard to imagine why. There are various best in slot items that come from places such as badges or ZA, mostly because higher ilevel doesn't always mean a better designed item.

Thanks for your views on the topic.
I shall probably go for [Boots of the Divine Light] at some future point, since I pased on it last night
I will agree though with Jayde on the added value [Soul-Strider Boots] shall gain come 2.4 - and provided the documented changes remain as is.
Liths, we as a Guild have set up a similar policy regarding T6 gems, the Guild Bank collects them and imparts them for gemming T6 loot. However, I would support the expenditure of a valuable gem on some specific lower-level items that are on par or even better to T6 gear. The above-mentioned boots are such an example.
Alas, they are beyond our Priests' scope as we do not do SSC anymore and all 3 drops were D/E'd. Say for lack of foresight .

Best item if you want to be a one trick pony perhaps. 5.6 mana/5s and 6.4 healing are rather insignifigants gains compared to 165 base mana pool and more importantly 297hp. You're seriously understimating the impact 165 mana has compared to 5.6 mana/5s. It'll take 5 mins to regenerate that much, the only fights in HS/BT that take signifigantly longer than that are Illidari Council and Illidan. And from what we've seen of the Sunwell things aren't going to change much, 80-90% of the encounters still last 6 mins or shorter. So thanks, but I'll take my 300hp over 6.4 healing and a slight mana advantage during a few encounters (and a disadvantage in others).

Actually, when I'm comparing Int vs. Mp5 I'm calculating the impact of mana pool vs. average fight duration as well. Soul-Strider Boots still come out on top in terms of overall value of stats.
I think given all the Spirit talents, Spirit regen, Spirit regen tricks, Spirit regen multipliers from Int, Spirit multipliers, etc. it should be quite clear that given equal amounts of Spirit vs. Int, Spirit will almost always win for a Priest. This is certainly not the case for other healers, but for Priests it's rather simple.
Keep in mind that I was only averaging 30% OO5SR, and not calculating the advantages of regen from Clearcasting/Inner Focus tricks, nor the added regen from +healing on a Shadowfiend. Also, 6.4 +healing is a fairly significant upgrade when you compare the margins usually obtained by upgrading single slot items.
Considering the general consensus is that next patch +10 Spirit gems are the way to go in most cases, choosing 9 Spirit/3 healing over 10 Int seems a bit odd. If Int was that good, wouldn't we be socketing with Brilliant Lionseye instead of Sparkling Empyrean Sapphire?
As I said, it's very good for a Stamina piece but very few encounters actually require a significant amount of Stamina either. I have the boots myself and use them occasionally, but not too often really. I presume most Priests have alternate gearsets for Stamina fights rather than generally gearing for max Stamina for all fights.
All this is a bit moot, however, considering there are two boot replacements (both badges and T6) in 2.4 that are probably better anyhow.

Your calculations are pretty messed up in that case, doesn't help me that you've not supplied any numbers or even the length of the fight you calculated.
Fully buffed stats for me with the two different items would be 865 spirit 688 int with BotDL and 874 spi 678int with SSB.
(0.001+865*0.009327*(688^0.5))*5=1058.1
(0.001+874*0.009327*(678^0.5))*5=1061.3
So, there you have it. The total differance in regeneration between 10 int and 9 spirit is 3.2 mana/5s in favor of the spirit. That however doesn't include the 165 mana gained from the int. At 3.2 mana/5s it'd take 8.6 min to break even, only fight lasting longer than that would be illidan. For just about every fight BotDL will provide you with more mana than the SSB. I'm also counting 100% OO5SR here, which obviously ain't going to happen. But really, you get more mana from BotDL, thats my point and I think I made it.
I'm not going to turn this into a stamina debate, my stance is always going to be that you're shooting yourself in the foot (no pun intended) by not having a bit of extra of it as long as you're not giving up relativley small amounts of healing or mana. If you think otherwise, fine. Not something that you can quantify with numbers, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I'm taking 650 int and 650 spirit as my baseline, since that is approximately a full T6 raid buffed priest. It is impossible to say definitively any longer if a particular item is "better" than another, because items with int/spirit only out pace items with mp5 as your int/spirit increase. Needless to say, here are some notes if you are sitting around the 650/650 mark fully raid buffed. Everything here is taken from a regeneration perspective. Only passingly considering stam/healing/haste.
I think there is a chance that the changes will remain because the desirability of items now follows the item level much more closely.

Wondering how the new badge pants [Adorned Supernal Legwraps] fare against these pants [Leggings of Eternity]. Napkin math shows:
Supernal Legwraps=
stam: 27
int: 40
spi: 42
red socket
blue socket
socket bonus: 4 stam (negligible)
healing: 114
Leggings of Eterniy=
stam: 45
int: 38
spi: 0
blue socket x 3
socket bonus: +9 healing (not negligible)
mp5: 16
healing: 121
So doing the math, the difference in stam is: 18 stam (or 14 if you include the socket bonus from the badge loot). While this isn't negligible, it's definitely doesn't require theorycraft. Also, the difference of 2 int is barely negligible, but will be included in the calculations. So the question to be answered is: Is 2 int, 1 less socket, 42 spi superior to 16 healing(added the socket bonus) and 16mp5. More math to follow...if i have time at work.
