I was playing around with Rawr earlier to see if I could make a set of gear with enough passive haste for 2.10s fireballs. I came up with this:

ToW is required to reach the hit cap.
[Cowl of the Tempest] [Chaotic Skyfire Diamond] [Quick Lionseye]
[Amulet of Unfettered Magics]
[Amice of the Convoker] [Forceful Seaspray Emerald]*2
[Tattered Cape of Antonidas] [Quick Lionseye]
[Sunfire Robe] [Quick Lionseye]*3
[Bracers of the Tempest] [Quick Lionseye]
[Handguards of Defiled Worlds] [Quick Lionseye]*2
[Belt of the Tempest] [Quick Lionseye]
[Pantaloons of Growing Strife] [Quick Lionseye]*3
[Boots of the Tempest] [Quick Lionseye]
[Ring of Omnipotence] or [Mana Attuned Band] without a draenei aura.
[Loop of Forged Power]
[Battlemaster's Alacrity]
[Shifting Naaru Sliver]
[Zhar'doom, Greatstaff of the Devourer]
[Wand of the Demonsoul] [Quick Lionseye]

According to Rawr, this set is only about 120dps lower than a normal "perfect" gear set, and has 670 passive haste (2.102s fireballs) If it produced consistent rolling ignites, could it actually be worth it?

I have no source for this statement however I seem to recall vontre equating the ignites to about 20% free damage with ~40% buffed critrate and a constant 'roll range' fireball. That's more than the 120 dps you would lose with that setup yes. This of course was paper benefit and that assumes you get the bonus on every crit sucession which isn't always the case as a client server spike can throw it off sometimes. I think using a sunflare / heart of the pit would be a better weapon choice however, since you need KJ loot to complete the setup anyhow.

Its 25% for 40% crit rate, from the rolling ignite alone. As you said, that assumes that every crit chain will cause a rolling ignite, which in theory it should, but generally doesnt in practice.

Log on with different model:
1- Create a character of the desired model. Log on/off.
2- At character selection screen, select your actual character; mouseover the new, desired model character, and hold down left click; hit enter and release left click at the same time.
bug Arcane Potency only applies to the first Arcane Missile bolt.

Recently I have heard rumors using a bug w/ Ashtongue Talisman of Insight related to this Rolling Ignite bug to get 90% uptime on most fights. Sadly though, the said mages aren't being too open with information of how this works.

Anyone got any ideas? Nothing I can think of makes any sense of why it would increase uptime with AToI's ability to refresh itself.

Manly, did you ever get that addon together to track the timestamps of damage events to isolate the perfect cast time for fireball to produce this effect?

I've got one made that I was playing with a few weeks ago before I got distracted by some other stuff, the only part missing is a parsing program to eat up the data files it generates to see what conditions have generated the bugs. If anyone is interested I can polish it up a little more and release it for some data collection.

To truly model the game, we first must research it.

Zaldinar: I didn't get a mod to track ignites, although I'm always open for it. The major issue I have is that, while I know programming, I don't know LUA. But I could definately make use of it.

Raistlin: Yes I pointed this out many times before in the other mage threads. Its got to do with debuffs being delayed. It will cause your ashtongue procs to not affect your next cast, as well as possibly end up costing you lost ignites.

I learned LUA putzing around with addons, the biggest issue is nobody in the WoW addon community knows anything about commenting their bloody code.

I've got work for the next few days, once I get some off time I'll finish polishing the Ignite Tracker and post it up here. Even without a direct method for parsing it built yet the data collection can still be useful. Plus, having a damage meter for ignite is fun, its amazing how much you lose to targets dying before their ignite finishes.

I have some recent wws data taken during M'uru attempts that clearly shows a rolling ignite bug. I'm hoping someone will find this interesting/useful to some degree.

first, the wws: Wow Web Stats

TLDR: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...gnitesver2.jpg

notes: 263 haste

I was suprised at how high the ignite got, and how much overall damage it gave me. How hard is it to consistantly use this technique to gain dps?
