You should have an idea of everyone's available gear so that you can swap stuff around to show optimal selection, but if not you can look at WoW Guild Rankings :: WoWProgress - World of Warcraft Rankings and History to see what your guild mates have been wearing aside from what the armory shows. Yes you'll have to spend a bit of time to do a good analysis, but you can probably demostrate quite clearly, that once your arcane friend has T6 belt and boots, he'll be seriously wondering what to do with his 11% spell hit. Although questionable if you'll even want him on Brutallus - Rawr predicts he'll need VT, mana tide, JoW, divine spirit and at least 1 innervate to even break 2000dps. He's been having a good time of it since arcane spec looks really impressive on the meters in BT, but if he wants to stay that spec and help progression on Sunwell bosses, he'll have to work a bit harder at understanding the math behind arcane, or at least let Rawr do the job for him.

If you use the build upgrade list tool in the optimizer that will evaluate gear by taking into account the possibilities of swapping gear around.

I still feel it's rather pointless to spec into pyroblast for a buff which is only infrequently available and only in the 'easy' phase of a difficult boss. Moreover, if you suck at stealing the buff quickly, and the tank on that side doesn't have spellreflect, they can be toast very quickly. Using Rawr to calculate the 80 seconds of P2, I see myself at 3kdps with arc-frost and only 2800 with fire-iv. So I'll trust the numbers for the moment and stick with the 'lesser' spec.

edit: Originally wanted to ask Wizeowel how he arranged CD, however, I found it on WWS, and learned a lot from Wizeowel.

22:34'35.482	Wizeowel gains Mojo Madness.
22:34'35.482	Wizeowel gains Icy Veins.
22:34'41.097	Wizeowel gains Arcane Power.
22:34'41.565	Wizeowel gains Mana Surge.
22:35'25.728	Wizeowel is afflicted by Hypothermia.

22:36'09.330	Wizeowel gains 2234 Mana from Evocation.
22:36'11.073	Wizeowel gains 2233 Mana from Evocation.

22:39'11.103	Wizeowel gains Arcane Power.
22:39'11.103	Wizeowel gains Mana Surge.
22:39'39.573	Wizeowel gains Icy Veins.
Fight started at ~22:34'20, and Wizeowel got a burn at ~1 min and used cold snap between 1-2 min, so it is like

0:15 2+3 min cd
1:05 cold snap
2:15 2min CD +IV
4:50 2min CD +AP+ heroism (AP is not used with IV)
5:20 IV+heroism frostbolt
5:30 IV frostbolt

One trick Wizeowel used is: IV+Hex 5 sec before AP+gem so that he can use his cooldown earlier.

I was wondering what would be a good sequence of trinket and cd on brutallus too.

Being a 6mn you got to use AP only twice (you can't really count on the enrage timer to use it 3 times). Indeed, using coldsnap after a burn is a good idea because instead of timing your second IV with AP, it should be better to time it with your 2min trinket, so you pop IV+AP+trinket between 4"00 and 5"00, depending when you have coldsnapped.
