Just to confirm:
Rapid Recouperation, 3/3: Reduces the mana and focus cost of all shots and abilities by you and your pet by 20/40/60% while under the effect of Rapid Fire, and you gain mana equal to 50/100/150% of the damage you do under the effect of Rapid Killing over 6 sec.
means that whilst under the 20second Rapid Killing buff, 50% of the damage I do is returned to me as mana, gradually over the period of 6 seconds?

Could I just auto-shot for 19 seconds and then arcane shot at the end to regen practically an entire mana pool?

Shame it doesn't work for Rapid Fire though, and the cost reduction is still there.

My idea for Rapid Recuperation is to turn it into a shamanistic rage of sorts for 3 points:

No, Rapid killing (the actual talent) didn't get changed so only your first 1 (or 2 if you know what your doing) auto/arcane/aimed shots will generate 150% of their damage as mana.

As far as I remember multi shot is not included on Rapid Killing, so you could use that shot, get a ton of mana back if it crits on 1 or 2 mobs. Then use an auto shot to get the damage back from that as mana. Not amazing for raids, but excellent for instances and solo'ing.

Hunter vs Wild (T5) 3/3 increases you and your pets AP & RAP by 10-30% of your total stamina.
Hunting Party - cooldown removed but only procs from Steady, Arcane & Explosive.

Marks:
Chimera Shot reduced to 125% damage, refreshes your sting on the target.
- Viper instantly returns 60% of the mana drained to you.
- Scorpid attempts to disarm the target for 10sec (1min cooldown on this effect).
Improved Stings now 3/3 instead of 5/5.
TSA raid wide & 50 yards.

There are probably other changes but I'm not fully aware of everything relating to Hunters yet :P
Lock and load is quite interesting. If by trap a target they mean "the target activates the trap" instead of referring to Ice Trap alone then it would be feasible for a hunter to drop immo. on targets and then spamming Explosive Shot. Still shouldn't outweigh the benefits of sniper training for raiding survivalists, but will be nice for arenas, battlegrounds, and 5 mans.

found where the mounted speed talent went:
BM:

Pathfinding (T3) changed to read: Increases your speed bonus of Aspect of the Cheetah and Aspect of the Pack by 4/8%, and increases your speed while mounted by 5/10%. The mounted movement speed increase does not stack with other effects.

Explosive Shot changed, now reads: You fire an explosive charge into the target, dealing 416-486 Fire damage to the enemy target, and an additional 104-121 Fire damage to all enemies within 5 yards of the target every second for 2 sec.
This sounds like a semi-nerf. The primary target gets 100% damage for 1 hit, but only 25% for the next two ticks as AoE damage. 150% damage (single-target consideration), down from 300% (impact + two 100% damage ticks).

Can anyone on beta confirm this?

I wonder if the implementation of Lock and Load is a reason they would nerf ES a bit. Trigger 3/3 L&L for three freely immediately consecutive ES shots.. hum.. but forces stings (PvE).. nasty-fast damage from trap-triggering (PvP). Maybe they had to, also because of the change to Hunting Party. Arcane vs. Explosive.. *shrug* I'm back on the fence.

This is (I assume) part of the next push which Koraa talked about regarding Survival changes etc.. so no one will be able to confirm how that version of ES works yet.

Survival Tactics (T3 Survival) 2/2

Reduces the chance your Feign Death ability will be resisted by 4%, and reduces the cooldown of your Disengage ability by 4 seconds.

I have a feeling this just a placeholder. I was under the impression that the +hit changes made traps nigh unresistable. Also, unless Disengage is getting redone, it's still a very worthless ability.

Aspect Mastery has gone from a waste of 5 points to a must have one pointer, but Separation Anxiety needs more info to find out how it'll be for PvE. Pets currently do 30% of a hunter's dps; WLK might take this up to as much as 50% with Devilsaurs/Raptors and pet talent trees and hit scaling, but it's unlikely it'd have that much of an impact. Still, it looks like it'll be very good for PvP, along with the buff to Spirit Bond.

No change to Focus Fire yet, but here's hoping. The improvements made to the pet talent trees also look nice, with Imp. Cower reducing damage taken by 20%, Heart of the Phoenix now being a 100% active res and other tweaks. It makes the bottom BM talent desirable even w/o wanting an exotic pet.

3 point imp stings is very nice, especially with Chimera Shot now refreshing the sting rather than consuming it. Combat Experience and Concussive Barrage will probably always suck, but I'll live in hope. The addition to pet damage in Marked for Death is also a nice dps gift.

Survival looks to have had a lot of tidying up of throwaway talents and shifting around to make the top half attractive for both PvE and PvPers, though I think there are still too many trap based talents. Lock and Load in particular has grabbed my attention, I wonder if they'll make it so the refresh on Chimera Shot will count as re-stinging a target. Sniper Training hasn't been changed, so it looks like they might be happy with its current state. A shame. Explosive Shot has been nerfed a little, but that was probably to be expected. Potent Venom tweaked and renamed Noxious Stings, nice PvP buff and it looks like they REALLY want us to use stings.

OH MY GOD AS I WAS TYPING THIS A BETA INVITE CAME THROUGH AND I HAVE AN EXAM IN ONE WEEK WHAT THE HELL BLIZZARD.

Focus Fire (T2 BM) - All damage cause by you is increased by 2% while your pet is active and the critical strike chance of your pet's special abilities by 20% while Kill Command is active

I'm a little underwhelmed with the new 46-50. The +10% on pet damage when we don't have LOS is nice when we're being.. well... LOS'd in arenas, but I wonder if it's really enough. Although, the way the wording is, if the pet is inside of 20 yards, but out of LOS, does that mean it get's both bonuses? Or will it still only get one?

Something I've also wondered is with Sniper Training - are we going to get some kind of active buff or indication when we are 30 yards from the target? We don't have any 30 yard minimum skill on which to do a range check. Is this just going to be a guessing game? The range relation to Sep. Anxiety is there, too. Will the pet get an active buff that I can track, so I can stay right at the 21 yard range on fights where long range can be harmful?

Distance awareness was huge when we had a deadzone, then got almost eliminated when the DZ was dropped, but now they are reintroducing it (distance awareness). Is there anyway to determine the exact distance to a target?

No-ones mentioned it yet, but it looks like Aimed Shot is back it's Vanilla version. 3s cast and 6s CD. A definate PvP nerf but perhaps in no longer interrupts auto-shot casts and resets the ranged attack timer?

Edit - oops, missed the post on Hunting Party.

The 30% stamina to RAP and pAP seems interesting. On my hunter currently that would be 192 RAP for 3pts.

I'm going to attempt some math on the potential dps gain/loss of keeping serpent or scorpid sting up to proc Lock and Load vs. not. Unless, of course, someone beat me to it already.

Yes but it doesn't trigger from auto or multi anymore so.

Just a quick reminder that Rapid Killing (the buff you get from the talent) only activates after you land a killing blow on something that gives xp or honor. Not exactly useful in raiding, especially boss fights where I'd think mana regen/return would matter most.

You know, now that I think about it some more, Rapid Recouperation is going to be THE leveling talent in respects to mana regen. Consider the following:
with rapid killing up, as BM, and in T6 I see;
Arcane shot hitting for ~830 and critting for ~1.7k
Aimed Shot hitting for ~1.3k and critting for ~3.9k

thats a damage spread of 2.1k to 5.6k damage before Rapid Killing drops. with a full 3 points in RR your looking at regenerating roughly 3k to 8.4k mana over 6 seconds. I don't know about you but double crits would just about completely refill a mana bar and lets not forget that both shots will only get better as you level up not to mention hit harder as MM compared to BM.

I suspect that RR might get a reducton on the mana back % in a future build.

Agreed about the mana back part but atleast they DID buff the rapid fire effect by including your pet's focus cost in there. How much does it help? I wouldn't know, but a 60% reduction on costs that are based on a max pool of 100 seems like it could (stress on "could") be significantly larger then one might think. Then again as long as you have a decent Crit rate as a MM hunter, GftT should suffice to cover most of a pet's focus needs so I don't know. Going to have to wait for lvl 80 and Raids to figure out its actual usefulness as a raid talent.

What I haven't heard is if they're changing spell hit mechanics. If FD is still considered a spell and not physical and a hunter has 9% hit chance s/he'll still be 7% short vs. lvl 83 mobs.

In other words I doubt it's a placeholder for something else, but I won't be surprised if it's tweaked.

Note: Completely agree about disengage.

Does it trigger on crits from the Explosive Shot DOT? If so, you get three chances at a trigger every 6 seconds, which certainly wasn't the case before.

The disarm will work on bosses. Well, bosses/NPC's that can be disarmed, anyways.

Every spec should be using a sting and a shot in their rotations (along with Steady). Beast - Arcane, Marks - Chimera, Survival - Explosive. None of those shots should reset your swing/shot timer (aka clip). There may be some issues with the mana cost of the shot and if it's worth using, that's what we're working on now.

Intimidation - We'd like to make this instant instead of relying on the pet's next attack.

Disengage - This is being changed in a future build. What it will do is cause the Hunter to jump back instantly 10-15ish yards to gain distance. 30 second cooldown.

Aspect of the Cheetah - The daze is there so Hunter's can't infinitely "kite" monsters or players. Sprints and movement speed bonuses is something we are very weary of giving the Hunter class.

Raidwide TSA and the nerf to explosive shot make me think we'll see a lot of raids with a TSA+EW hunter. How good is hunting party now, after all of its back-and-forth?

Here's a WotLK Survival build prototype: really long URL

0/31/33 is what's required to pick up TSA and EW, which leaves 7 points. I think the most powerful thing those 7 points can reach is Master Tactician, which is probably worth over 1% crit per point. For more mana endurance, those 7 points can also finish efficiency, get all of TotH, and get Combat Experience.

Not a bad suggestion, I'll think about it. It does have issues with it though (You'd have to maintain a bunch of different hot bar setups).
Glad he acknowledged this, but what's he talking about with the hot bars?
