Need a little help if any warriors got spare time.
I'm a baby DW Fury Warrior with crap gears (CTProfile link should work). 3/46/2 spec. I'm trying my best to maximize my raid DPS. The last 2.0 PW fight I only pulled 510 DPS.
With rage normalization, what would be a good abilities sequence? Is Rampage talent in general any good compared to good ol Impale?
P.S. My OH is CTS (2.6 speed), trying to go for GM's Swiftblade (1.8 speed) and hopefully it would boost my DPS some. Other weapons I have are Deathbringer, Maladath, Perdition, and Sand Polished Hammer - which I doubt are good OH weapon.

1h spec and 2h spec does not and never has affected bloodthirst as it technically is not a weapon attack.
I.E. Bloodthirst is useable unarmed, and hits for the same amount.

I could have sworn last time I tested this, 2h spec *did* affect Bloodthirst. It should be easy to check now that the Bloodthirst tooltip shows the damage you'll do.

1H and 2H spec are flat damage increases, they affect ALL the damage a warrior does. They will increase rend and deep wounds two fold, just in the same way when Skeram MC's you, your deep wounds will tick for ~1k.
I'll also take this time to announce I probably won't be working on the spreadsheet anymore. There are two reasons:
1. I started the spreadsheet when I got a new job. There's a lengthy training process involved and I had way too much free time. That free time is gone, as you might guess from the lack of updates recently. They are actually trusting me with important things here, so I no longer have adequate time to support the spreadsheet. I rarely worked on this outside of work, and I hope most of the people who are in a similar situation(~40 hour work week and a gf) can understand that free time is valuable and I'd rather spend it playing WoW.
2. My heart isn't into it anymore. I'm sure most of you have read my rants in other threads, so I'm not going to repeat them here. The short of it is that dps warrior get nothing new, unless you want to count rage and talent nerfs as "new". So instead of some new buttons to push, I have some taken away, yay. I haven't even logged onto my warrior since the patch.
The spreadsheet is a bit old, and I'd rather not be an accessory to misleading people with bad information. So, I'm hoping to hand it off to someone like Chalon did. Unlike Chalon, I will still be playing the game just as much. I'll try to support whoever takes it over so they can understand my spaghetti code and concepts. Though, probably best to start over from scratch. One thing I think that should be changed is the gear selection...get rid of it. Just have raw stat input.
Anyway, sorry leaving you guys without any updates for a while, and then to be dropping it in an abrupt manner. I'm not sure how to hand over the spreadsheet or to whom. I'd prefer Celandro since he's the one I would ask questions if I couldn't figure something out, and he has let me use his hosting. But, I haven't seen him post here in a while. Any suggestions?

No suggestions, but thanks for everything, Deathwing. I'm on a 40+hr-GF-WoW schedule also, and I know I don't have time to maintain anything (like little mods I've come up with, etc), so you've my sympathies.

Worst news ever =(
But thanks for all the info.
Is anyone going to continue this legacy? During this weeks naxx clear i noticed that i do way more damage DWing with my arms spec (43/5/3) than i do with a 2h (hatchet/crul vs darkedge) and i was hoping to optimize my weapon choices come BC. I under stand the theorycraft of why it would do more damage, but i was hoping for a mathematical reason.

It will be a shame to see you drop the project, but, I can't say I blame you! It was really quite eye openning in and of itself and I'm sure that many people really appreciate the work you've done so far!
Also, thanks for the info. I was pretty sure that was how weapon skills worked, but, since I'd gotten into an argument with some people about it I felt I needed to verrify my information to make sure I wasn't spouting nonsense!
Appreciate the responses.

With the changes to haste effects/rage, does the rapidity enchant remain superior to 8 strength enchants? (with improved berserker stance). I only have Open Office, so can't use the spreadsheet myself.

Could you expound on this a little? Is it mostly due to axe spec? I hate my current deep fury build 0/48/3 (rampage ftl, etc) but wanted to try something different from the old 17/34. If DW MS is at all viable i'd like to hear more about it.

I'm not interested in taking over the spreadsheet due to my own time constraints. Full time job + baby + wife's new night job = unable to raid = pvping. If there were highish end guilds that raided from 8pm to 11pm PST that would be different but there dont seem to be any on my server and Im unwilling to run a guild again.

This is sort of a general dps question as well as a spreadsheet option, so I thought I would ask it here rather than make a separate thread for it.
When calculating Rampage use, how did you end up modelling its use? I'm having issues deciding when it is best to refresh the buff. Right now I have a subpar crit rate due to my warrior just hitting 60 a week or so ago. As such I am noticing that I have two choices:
1) Let the 5 stacked Rampage fall off, saving 30 rage for a reapplication when my next crit occurs.
2) Reapply Rampage before it fades, thus effectively making Rampage less than a 30 second buff, but ensuring that the buff is up all of the time.
When you added the Rampage talent in the spreadsheet, did you simply assign it a 30 rage cost every 30 seconds with a 210 AP bonus (from imp berserker stance), or something more complex that would possibly be more accurate?
I'm curious how other warriors are dealing with reapplying Rampage. I was thinking that if you have x% to crit, you should apply Rampage only when you crit when there is less than y seconds left on the buff.
The thing I'm uncertain of would be the formula to use that would, on average, guarantee a crit in y number of seconds with x% to crit. I'd imagine weapon speed would also be a factor, as well as how long rampage can be activated after a crit occurs (I'm at work, and unable to time the length that rampage remains lit up after a crit)

Personally, when I'm grinding outworld mobs, I don't make Rampage a priority. It may be more playstyle related than theorycraft, but after trying many different approaches, the order that works for me is: in Berserk stance, Bloodthirst when you have 30 rage. If you have 2+ seconds left on BT cooldown, WW. If both have 2+ seconds left on CD, rampage. this seems to get me through mobs in solo play with the least amount of health lost, and Rampage is up more often than not as I chain kill/victory rush. It's probably not the most effective DPS cycle in the long run, but for grinding, nothing else allowed me to keep killing for as long without bandaging/eating.

Tried this prio order for rage on Patchwerk today.
1. BT
2. WW (I dont have imp WW)
3.Rampage (if already on AND more then 5 sec left go to prio 4)
4. HS
I managed to squeeze out 760 dps sustained which is more then I did on last weeks attempts where i had reapplication of Rampage as prio 1 basically (and chained juju flurries).
Sure this is just one attempt but Im not gonna be that paranoid about rampage in the future. Reapply it when you can is my advice...too bad thats sorta hard to code:)

eh ?
Last thaddius I was 50k ahead , number 1 .
Only fight I notice a tad less dps is loatheb but still you can put off enough to be 1 with proper gear.

2h weapons just doesn't scale as well as 1h weapons do for whatever reason. For example, right now, with 2h spec, my character sheet shows my autoattack DPS with my DEoI to be at about 190 with 1270atk, where as my DW combo shows my DPS at 232 (156+76). With battleshout at 1500atk 2h is 203 DW is 257( 172+85), 1700atk 2h:218 DW:279 (187+92), 1900atk 2h:233 DW:300 (201+99).
Also, rage generation is better over all with DW. The rage comes easier and is generated smoother which becomes more damage, endless rage magnifies this effect. HS can be used as a rage dump while DWing, with 2h it's very impractical. Slam, in theory, should be better than HS as a rage dump, but due to the draw backs of using slam, it's not. Reguardless, the rage generation while using a 2h hardly supports the consumption of MS and WW unless I'm taking AE damage or some other environmental damage.
This isn't to say that DW MS is better DPS than full Fury, the only reason to use deep arms on a raid is for bloodfrenzy. On Patchwerk my BF accounted for about 100,000 extra damage with 2 DPS warriors, 6 rogues, 4 hunters, 4 tanks(one of which was me) and assorted pets. On grob it accounted for about 60,000 damage, not bad considering i was 25k under our full fury warrior who has better gear then myself and prior to the patch our DPS was very close.

You arent considering the fact that DW suffers from 24% missrate when autoattacking, that should bring the autoattack dps closer to equal.

Got curious (because of posts above) and tried deep Arms spec with DW.
PvPed a little and farmed in Tyrs Hand.
This build seriously lacks burst DMG in PvP (which is the strength of MS 2H Build - though the debuff is still very nice) and the sustained damage output and utility (improved zerker and intercept) of a fury build.
Was unsurprisingly very disappointing and will respec today.
I did not try raid encounters though. But even then i don't see this kind of build being better than a MS build with a nice 2H.

That would assume i have no +hit at all, in which case missing my 2h swings would be far worse than a miss while DWing. Even with the greater penalty for DWing, a miss while using a 2h severely effects my rage generation, which already struggles to keep up with the output demands.
Another point, i have 9% hit in my raid gear (12 if i really want to push hit%), that should promote the efficiency of my 2h, but i still do more damage DWing.

This may have been already covered, so I apologize if it has. My question is what will be considered the "New" target or minimum amount of +hit desirable at lvl70? Do the mechanic's stay the same despite having a higher lvl mob? (since crit rating etc takes more at 70 than it does at 60) Also, what is the new target AP (ie the general consensus is 1000 unbuffed to get the most out of BT). Currently, i'm @~900 w/9% to hit not including 3% hit talent (with consumables - elixir of giant and desert dumplings I can maintain ~1000 pre BS). Since I have not been in beta etc, do we know if the new 25 man instances if the trash mobs also have resiliency built in such that they will be much harder to score a critical strike again and thus raising the bar so to speak on what's needed for this as well?
Thanks,

I'm trying this out for a while, especially as we're winding down our raiding leading into BC. Hopefully in BWL i'll get to see how it effects my damage on dps fights like the drakes, but it's nice to be able to use a 2H in PVP again.

Using this spreadsheet, having a 1.8s GM Swiftblade in the MH yields higher DPS than the 2.9s GM Longsword. It looks like it's the rage generation that's making this difference and overcoming the lower damage instant attacks with the Swiftblade. Does anyone know if this still holds true in 2.0?

Pre-2.0 swiftblade would only yeiled higher dps because of executes. before execute range the GM blade is actually better moreso for horde then alliance of course
post 2.0 thats the milion dollar question now aint it. When thinking about that question almost all variables have to be taken into account. With rage normalization faster weapons see little rage drop off when apply the hasted speed into the rage formula (because 30% of a slower weapon is a bigger speed loss then a faster weapon under the same 30% due to how percentile work and this effects raged gained now but the weapons remain the same dps after haste is taken into account)
also glancing blows need to be accounted for with relation to rage norm. a faster weapon doesnt get as big a boost in burstier damage from ap as a slow weapon would (im thinking of 2.9 speed versus 1.4 speed of course :P). Burstier damage helps negate a tad bit of glancing blows with relation to rage norm because you are simply hitting harder and that means more rage.
All in all i think slow weapons mainhand are the way to go for both factions still. But this also raises the question of whats the better speed for an offhand when accounting rage norm and glancing blows. Wont really know until someone throws together a spread sheet that is very meticulous on rage generation

Erm, Haste effects all weapons exactly the same regardless of speed
Over 1 Minute (60 seconds)
1.0 = 60 attacks
1.0/1.3 (30% haste) = 0.77 = 78 attacks, 30% more
2.0 = 30 attacks
2.0/1.3 (30% haste) = 1.54 = 39 attacks, 30% more
