It should and it does. Ferocity increases the crit chance of lightning breath as well, and Animal Handler reduces the resist rate.

Lactose, there's a large constituency (to which I belong) of people who are competent enough to use and understand a spreadsheet, but are too lazy or stupid to create it themselves :) Of course it's a valuable contribution!

I'm collecting as many different-speed ranged weapons as I can, for determining my best possible rotations - total dorkdom.

Hmm, I think I'll take this to a seperate thread now...
Edit: New thread has been made, taking the spreadsheet stuff there from now on would be nice =)

Now, carry on :P

Wow, this is a pretty interesting bit of information. I'm even angrier there's no good way to jam in 2/2 without going over 41 in beast mastery. :(

I noticed this behaviour whilst levelling, but I only went back and had a proper look at it today.

This is using Rhok'Delar (2.9spd), Serpent's Swiftness and 15% quiver.

This gives 2.101 speed normally and 1.501 speed during rapid fire.

Ripped from my combatlog, edited to get rid of a lot of "spell not ready yet" and "mana drain" spam.

2/8 13:52:23.218 Wind Serpent gains Bestial Wrath.
2/8 13:52:23.234 You gain Blood Fury.
2/8 13:52:23.234 You gain Rapid Fire.
2/8 13:52:23.249 You gain Ferocity.
2/8 13:52:23.530 Your Arcane Shot hits Dr. Boom for 524 Arcane damage.
Run of the mill powerup macro

2/8 13:52:28.624 Your Steady Shot hits Dr. Boom for 423.
2/8 13:52:28.718 Your Auto Shot hits Dr. Boom for 372.
2/8 13:52:28.937 Your Auto Shot crits Dr. Boom for 853.
2/8 13:52:29.327 Your Auto Shot hits Dr. Boom for 360.
I'm writing this section off as slightly bizzare lag, because 3 autoshot hits and steady within 1 second is too odd for me to try and explain.

2/8 13:52:30.812 Your Steady Shot hits Dr. Boom for 379.
2/8 13:52:31.280 Your Auto Shot crits Dr. Boom for 876.
2/8 13:52:32.562 Your Steady Shot hits Dr. Boom for 410.
2/8 13:52:32.796 Your Auto Shot hits Dr. Boom for 396.
2/8 13:52:34.077 Your Steady Shot crits Dr. Boom for 942.
2/8 13:52:34.859 Your Auto Shot crits Dr. Boom for 875.
2/8 13:52:35.874 Your Steady Shot hits Dr. Boom for 378.
2/8 13:52:36.312 Your Auto Shot hits Dr. Boom for 355.
2/8 13:52:37.468 Your Steady Shot hits Dr. Boom for 381.
2/8 13:52:37.796 Your Auto Shot hits Dr. Boom for 347.
In this section, we see steady shots landing more or less every 1.5 seconds, and autoshots landing about 0.5 seconds after each, suggesting that the steady shot is taking less than 1sec to cast, so the auto has time to fire in the split second where I'm hammering steady but haven't hit it yet.

2/8 13:52:38.046 Blood Fury fades from you.
2/8 13:52:38.062 Rapid Fire fades from you.
2/8 13:52:38.062 Ferocity fades from you.
macro ends.

Essentially, the behaviour observed is that you can spam steady as fast as you can click, without ever clipping the autoshot, nor preventing it completely.

Does this suggest that if we can find a good weapon with a 2.1 speed (down to 1.52 base after swiftness and quiver) that one can fit steady and auto-shots together almost perfectly?

I tried this with the Maghari Light Recurve, but it refused to accept a quiver bonus or use arrows, and I've not yet made my way to a vendor to buy a low level 2.1 spd.

More generally, am I missing something, or does this disprove the theory that 2.8 is the ideal speed for BM hunters?

edited for spelling.

update:

Tested with 2.0 - 2.3 speed bows, don't see the same behaviour - I suspect that the 1.52 speed is too slow to allow the same behaviour as the fully hasted 2.9->1.501. a 16% haste quiver would take a 2.1 speed bow down to 1.508 which might be close enough to 1.5 for the noclip behaviour to occur.

Barring that maybe I'm just going crazy. Does anyone else see the same spam-friendly behaviour from 2.9 speed bows?

Obviously with rapid fire (even without quickshots/serpent's) and quiver, your steady cast time is 1 sec or less ... meaning GCD will always leave at least .5 sec gap for auto to fire, no matter how fast you spam steady.

Just serpent's and quiver leaves steady at 1.08 sec cast, which means GCD leaves only .42 sec - coincidentally just short enough to prevent your auto from firing if you really spam steady aggressively.

The only issue with getting a 2.0-2.2 speed bow with serpent's swiftness is that you then derive no benefit from steady shot and rapid fire / quick shots combined (you could try just using arcane/multi but that may not be a net win).

Ingame, how do you make addons that have a timestamp show milliseconds? Currently mine shows H:M:S. Or is there a specific add-on someone can refer me to.

Since the addon subject was touched upon... I've seen several timer mods (Auto Shot, etc), but haven't really figured out which one to use yet... what do you guys consider to the best? Would like something taking the 0.5 cast time into account, as well correctly delayed by Steady Shot, etc.

I find BigTrouble to be very accurate. A recent update even seems to account for the 0.5s cast of Auto Shot, as the mod tracks accurately when a Steady Shot fires too close to Auto, and the bar reverses to 0.5 seconds.

Just wondering. Has any hunter managed to find upgrades for T3 at all? I only have T3 gloves and bracer and am still wearing them at 70. My guild has recently started Karazhan and yesterday I picked up

Gloves of Quickening
444 Armor
+19 Stamina
+22 Intellect
Blue Socket
Red Socket
Socket Bonus: +3 Agility
Durability 50 / 50
Requires Level 70
Equip: Improves critical strike rating by 15.
Equip: Increases attack power by 46.
Equip: Restores 4 mana per 5 sec.

I'm just wondering how many would consider them an upgrade from Cryptstalker gloves, I'd put 2 16 ap gems in them and use the 26 ap glove enchant, this would be compared to Cryptstalker with a 15 agi enchant. I'm just not really sure if the extra AP makes up for the lost crit or even puts them ahead.

I'm still using the pvp gloves, the 4% to multishot is tought to replace also. I can grind the 70 version I guess, but that resilience seems like such a waste. I havent found a replacement to the CS boots yet, which was the only piece of T3 I had. I think I'm going to consider Beast Lord an upgrade-- just to make it easier on myself in the future.

From what I've seen the added int/mana/stam on TBC hunter stuff is pretty useful, and this is coming from a PvE hunter. Of course I'll trade stamina for damage any day of the week, but there comes a point when I'll need the health and mana only TBC gear can provide. Rather than agonize over every piece of loot that drops, trying to determine if its an upgrade or not, I think I'll just upgrade to the dungeon blues, and make my decisions that much easier.

Since this thread is a giant mess and I can't find anything in it...has anyone evaluated the Khorium Scope vs Stabilized Eternium Scope (+12 dmg vs 28 crit rating)? The math makes my head hurt, since I'm not even sure whether scopes affect steady shot or not :-P

My gut feeling is that for PvP, they're roughly equal. 60 AP to Multi/Aimed Shot, 58 AP to your silly 2.90 speed Autoshots. As far as I know, Scopes do not affect Steady Shot damage and since you'll be firing a lot of those + Arcane Shots, +Crit would most likely be the better PvE upgrade.

bliznik's is more dps than any other scope, as always - provided you're not hit capped (which isn't that hard to achieve if you sacrifice other stats, though, and obviously is even easier in pvp or non-boss pve)

I already achieved 113 hit rating without choosing any hit gear. Just the best dps gear I could gather had this much hit rating already so I'm not using Biznick anymore. Replaced with adamantite.

Stalker's Helmet of Second Sight better than Tier3 helm, Beast Lord Shoulders better than Tier3, I practically replaced everything actually. Trying to get the 4th piece of Beast Lord set right now, 600 armor reduce must be like 7-8% damage increase if I can remember correctly from faire fire.

Oh and I'm using these leather feet: Fel Leather Boots with 25 crit rating, 25 hit rating and 54 AP. I can't seem to find any mail ones coming remotely close.

I'm in a quandry over trinket choices.

I'm currently using [Drake Fang Talisman] http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19406 and [Bladefist's Breadth] http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28041 .

I'm thinking [Hourglass of the Unraveller] http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28034 would be a good upgrade. Maybe that coupled with [Bloodlust Brooch] http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29383 . Any thoughts?

Hourglass currently procs off ranged, but gives melee attack power.

I have Bloodlust Brooch and Abacus of Violent Odds at the moment, and I love it.

keep in mind that [Hourglass of the Unraveller] http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28034 is bugged not to grant us RAP on the proc. I have this trinket and verified.

They promised to fix this in a "future patch." For now I'm still toting Bladefist's Breadth until it gets fixed.

Currently for trinkets I'm using the Alchemist's Stone (because Fel Mana pots work with it and are a guaranteed 4480 mana, with absolutely no downside whatsoever for a hunter, aside from slightly reduced serpent sting ticks), with Bladefist's Breadth. (I need the crit.) I'd get the hourglass, but I can't justify grabbing it over a melee right now until it's either fixed to include RAP, or officially made ONLY for melee people.

How can you help?
I can shoot things and then make my pet move toward them.

Remember when they promised to normalized pet attack speeds "in a future patch"? ;)

I'd think Bladefist and the Abacus would be better for DPS, though. Then again, I have no idea what the proc rate would be like for ranged, so maybe I'm wrong.
