The Aldor shoulder enchant (30 AP 10 crit) comes out better than the Scryer enchant (20 AP 15 crit) in Lactose's spreadsheet right now. I was thinking, would the extra crit coupled with GFTT (and a wind serpent) tip the scales in favor of the Scryer enchant, or does the added AP add more to pet damage?

Well I guess we can calculate that part ourselves, but I think AP is still better. Glad I picked Aldor. :)

I have one question about beast lord set bonus, does the armor reduce still occur even if the kill command is missed/dodged?

Still wouldn't make me use that absolutely horrid skill, but that's nice, at least.

Also, has anyone actually done any tests to see if Steady cares about your weapon dps at all? I'm really thinking it doesn't, and that pisses me off to no end because it makes it feel as if we're getting fucked in terms of scaling once again.

How can you help?
I can shoot things and then make my pet move toward them.

Edit: In other words, Steady Shot has a WeaponDPS * 2.8 component. It scales with your weapon upgrades.

Horrid? Tbh I don't remember any better set bonus. 600 armor reduce is like 10% more damage and you can keep that up all the time.

I was wondering if anyone was using Don Santos' Famous Hunting Rifle and how they liked it http://www.thottbot.com/?i=59554 . I currently have an offer of 2100g to a guy for it, but I'm having my doubts on whether it's worth it. I'm in a guild that does a lot of raiding and we're probably gonna be downing the prince in Karahzan this week so the bow may be a possibility. One of the guys on Thottbot claims that it's up 50% of the time with a BM spec and it can sometimes stack, but I have a hard time believing anything those people say. As far as replacing gear...I now have 4/5 BL, but I have a really hard time getting rid of the 6/9 CS bonus, it is just way too nice to let go.

Lactose the tooltip seems to be unaware of this then. I change my 66.7 dps bow to 56 dps one and steadyshot tooltip shows an increase even, since the 56 dps one has more AP on it.

I grouped with a beast spec hunter yesterday and noticed that his ferocious inspiration buff was overwriting (instead of multiplying) my focused fire buff (at least on the char screen).

If it's truely overwriting, then this hurts certain party compositions and certainly BM hunters with both talents in their specs.

Never happened to me on beta when I tested a BM spec, I saw a 1.05 multiplied in the character screen.
It might have been Focused Fire bugging out? I've had it happen a couple of times on my own, usually at the same time as my 4/9 decides to not be active anymore...
Should probably try and check it and report on the bug forums if needed though.

It dropped for me a couple days ago and I love it. The proc "Santos' Blessing" goes off more than quick shots (I would say 20+% of the time). The buff however does not stack with itself. On boss fights the buff is up pretty much all the time. Also the best part is it shoots GREEN LASERS and green energy bubbles come out of the side vents. I would not pay 2100 for it, but I think it's as least as good a ranged weapon as you are going to get until the bow off the prince in Kharazan.

As Lactose said, tooltips lie. You know what other tooltip lies? Arcane Shot. It still calculates tooltip damage as [RAP * 0.20 + 273], leading to many Hunter posts claiming Arcane Shot is mitigated by armour.

The niceness of the weapon aside, 2100g seems more than a little steep for something comparable to raid epics you already have access too, never mind you're about to unlock superior weapons. I suppose if you've got your epic mount and any craftables you want you may as well, but I wouldn't shell out that much for it.

On the subject of BoEs, what do people think of cloaks? Having had a hard-on for Shroud of Dominion for half a year but stopping Sapphiron attempts due to TBC, I really fancy getting a [Vengeance Wrap] (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=59085) crafted - I even picked up the recipe for 500g, and have a tailor who will make me one if I give him the recipe and the 14 Primal Airs for it (he provides the shadowcloth, and I can pretty much farm the airs in a few hours of grinding). However, the cloak lacks both +hit and stam, and soem of my guildies think it's a complete waste compared to say [Drape of the Dark Reavers] (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=59941). I can't say I'm much of a stamina nut though, a pure DPS item never seems a waste. The larger concern for me is that [Black-Iron Battlecloak] (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=60367)off Doomwalker is even better. Except, I see Doomwalker kills even more remote in my future than Aran kills.

And [Cloak of the Inciter] (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=59254) never drops, I'm using [Cloak of the Craft] (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=57763), which imho is barely worse than the one off Aran.

I should probably just wait for Aran and sell the recipe at profit, but I'm not even in a Kharazan group yet due to most of the tanks and healers getting locked into one set 10-man.

I'm willing to cut them slack on tool tips since it requires a client patch and all the headache that comes along with 8 million people trying to figure out torrents.

I was actually going to modify a tool tip mod like tipbuddy or something to show the values we worked out never got into it. I never got beyond the "thinking about it" stage though.

It's nowhere near that good, 600 armor at 70 is less than it was at 60, I tested it on a fully sundered/faerie fired boss and it gives barely over 4% damage increase. It's probably worth using KC if you're wearing 4 pieces anyway but I definitely wouldn't keep using beast lord items over better stuff just for the bonus.

Is it just me, or is there a major problem with guns (bullets, actually)?

Prices are at honored.

Arrows:
32 dps - 27s any vendor
37 dps - 45s CE revered
50 dps - 180s CoT honored

Bullets:
32 dps - 27s any vendor
37 dps - 425s engineer crafted
50 dps - 180s CoT honored

Currently on my server Adamantite Bars go for 1.5g, Primal Earths are 5g, and Primal Fires are 20g. At 2 bars and 1/20 of a primal each, that puts 37 dps ammo at 4.25g each. Unless mats take a huge dive the 37 dps bullets will be more expensive and worse than the 50 dps ones. That leaves gun users with no middle of the road ammo.

Both types of weapon users could use the 50 dps ammo for whatever they want. I find it to be a bit expensive for farming, but for heroics or raids it may be worth it. An arrow user could choose to use the 37 dps ammo for most purposes with only a slightly higher cost. A gun user has no such choice, they can either get the expensive ones or the cheap ones.

Say I am willing to use 37 dps ammo for farming and BGs. I have a choice between a gun and a bow. If I choose the gun then I'm going to lose 5 dps. That's a bit out of whack.

This was discussed a few pages back IIRC. Depends on your spec, weapon speed, AP, crit rate.

But then, what would we poor engineers sell?

If vendor bullets are equivalent or superior to crafted ones, people will buy the vendor ones.

If vendor bullets are inferior to crafted ones, people will buy the crafted ones, and bow users will complain about missing equivalent arrows.

If arrows exist equivalent to crafted bullets, then people will complain about the arrows being too cheap or the bullets being too expensive, since there are no professions to make crafted arrows of equivalent cost.

So they either need to:

- do away with the idea of crafting ammo
- make arrows craftable
- make a trade-in system like the old thorium shell to arrow one (this was a royal pain in the ass and I hope they don't)
- make the craftable bullets so cheap that they're comparable in cost to vendor arrows (still unlikely to be useful, people wouldn't make them to sell in that case)

Or instead of having purchased epic ammo, have purchased epic ammo engineering patterns!

I'd prefer if I could buy my good grinding/easy 5 man ammo in bulk from a rep vendor and have to seek out the guild engineer for the raid caliber stuff.

Like you said, you could always let engineers make arrows, just call them "Mizfig's mostly-reliable mini-rockets" or something equally goblinish.

This is sort of how it worked before as Thorium was the best craftable, and the general consensus market value of said bullets was about 1g.

The only thing that seems out of whack is that the 37DPS arrows are only 45s per stack. (Even the old Ice Threaded were 54s a stack)

I think we will be hardpressed for a long while to get Adamantite bars for under 25s each (and elemental blasting powder I consider negligible as it occasionally shows up on different engineering vendors, and motes drop from mining)

Hell, why not just get rid of ammo? Make it a proper weapon upgrade, pay a large one time fee for a lifetime supply of ammo, instead of just another continuous drain on resources.
