Hi Cheeky. [Prowler's Strikeblade] gives me an error when I equip it in my offhand. Just thought I'd let you know. I'm using version 45.

Do you also have it in your main hand?

I agree that it was a bit unwieldy. What people are looking for, imo, is a quick and easy equivalence, so they can compare gear. For example, I have a hard time remembering how armor pen compares to AP for me. You could normalize each stat to Agility, which would be easy, take only one column, and be useful. Call it call it Agility Equivalence Points:

Attribute - DPS - AEP
Agility + 1 = .700 = 1.00
AP + 1 = .300 = 0.43
Hit + 1 = .750 = 1.07
Crit + 1 = .600 = 0.86
Pen + 1 = .099 = 0.14
Haste + 1 = .770 = 1.10

It lets someone quickly look at a new item, multiply the attibutes through by the given multipliers to get the AEP of that item. Now they can compare their old item, and see if the new one is an upgrade. It's quick and dirty, but a lot faster / easier to guestimate during a raid than having to go to the spreadsheet and plug in the new item.

It shouldn't matter. The spreadsheet has no concept of uniqueness. It's probably the Main/Off Hand lookup table isn't pointing to the right item name.

I can do that.

Would it be possible, for pulling gear/talent info from the armory, to include an option to authenticate to a proxy server? I know I can't be the only one who plays around with the spreadsheet from work.

Personally I don't see how having every stat measured in agility equivalence is better than the current (albiet apparently buggy?) table of every stat being measured in DPS equivalence. I really liked the old table being able to show how every stat measured up in terms of every other stat.

But I have no idea what kind of pain it is to maintain that kind of table, so if it's too much, by all means move to a more manageable single equivalence system (DPS or AP would make the most sense to me instead of AGI), and I'm sure we'll still be very thankful for the work you put in Cheeky ^_^

On a constructive note, I was wondering how well the sheet accounts for the effect of stacking a trinket like [Bloodlust Brooch] with Bestial Wrath. I gather from the sheet options that for trinkets like that it just calculates the average AP over time and adds it to effective AP for the hunter? Which leads to it predicting BB being not very good compared to DST/Ashtongue, which might be true, but leaves me a bit uncomfortable since I think I get a much bigger boost that the sheet realizes since the extra hunter and pet AP is applied at a time when both the hunter and pet are getting % damage increase modifiers.

I suppose that's just rambling there about me being unsure of my trinket choices

You're quite right in that it currently normalizes everything to DPS, and so you can calculate the effectiveness of each piece by multiplying through by the respective DPS coefficient.

I guess I just prefer looking at it normalized to a single in-game stat, like say AP, since that makes thinking about gear a little easier. It gives me rules of thumb that I can use in game, such as 1 hit >= 1 haste >= 1 agi = 7 pen >= 1 crit = 2 AP. So effectively the same as it is now, just perhaps easier to read. Maybe that's just me.

Heh, I had forgotten all about the Calc Attributes button, Cheeky. It fills out the table perfectly. Thank you much.

If you're looking for a quick way to compare gear, take the dps stat form the table and plug in the values at lootrank. Then you can look at the items side-by-side and see not only which items are superior to others, but by how much DPS.

If you completely clear out the Shot Rotation tab, you can select trinkets and abilities in it. Most on-use trinkets are modeled, and The Beast Within is too. Then pick your rotation until the effects wear off and leave the rest blank. Ratio the uptime to your normal DPS (for these tests I recommend turning off the "average out" options) and viola! Disclaimer - It doesn't do anything for looking at Pet DPS.

Hmm, I guess I could add Bloodlust/Heroism in there too the same way. I probably won't, but I could.

It was a real pain in the ass to put all that logic into the spreadsheet in the first place (it works for all rotations, I believe) so if anyone gets some use out of it I won't feel like a wasted several days of my life for nothing.

Tell me how and maybe I can get it done. I know just about dick regarding Excel and the Internet. The scraping code in there was donated by someone else. (The truth is I'm pretty much an imbecile.)

Hi,

I just downloaded teh newest version (45) of the DPS spredsheet and tried to update my profile via the "Load Gear from Armory" button.

This did very well in one of the previous versions.

But now VBA gives me a runtime error code: 2147221164 (80040154), class not registered

Function getsingledata(url, searchterm)
Set objXMLHTTP = CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP.3.0")
objXMLHTTP.Open "GET", url, False

The last line in the function above is marked.

Can someone give me a hint what I did wrong?

Thanks!

Help with Cheeky's spreadsheet

Why doesn't the shot rotation change in the profiles section of the settings and results tab when you change it on the shot rotation tab? Is there something I'm missing?

You have to save the profile for that to happen. The table of data per profile is for saved information only.

I saved the profile with 3:2 selected as my rotation.....it still shows 1:1 on the settings and results. I even closed it out and reopened it after the save to see if that would work, but it didn't.
