I just recently found the EJ site -- wow, great stuff. I feel like Tarzan seeing fellow humans for the first time and realizing that I'm not just a funny looking ape.
I've been solo theorycrafting for a while and have developed an equipment evaluation spreadsheet that focuses on accounting for effects of individual variability in shot cycle. Before I risk wasting anyone's time on what may or may not be a contribution here, I want to check my understanding of a few things, esp. haste effects. Apologies if this isn't the place to ask (the topic seems to come up in many places) or if this info has been covered (though I've read through hundreds of posts + wowwiki articles without managing to figure it out...).
Specifically:
1) Which cast-time/cooldowns of which shots are affected by haste effects (esp. the big 3: quiver, SS, IAotH)? Here's my current, probably flawed understanding:
auto cast (.5 sec): no
auto CD (wpn speed): yes
steady cast (1.5 sec): yes
steady CD (0): n/a
arcance cast (0): n/a
arcane CD (GCD=1.5 sec): no
multi cast (.5 sec): no
multi CD (10 sec): no
2) Is damage per shot from AP haste-adjusted for any shot type other than autoshot?
In case the question isn't clear, I know damage/shot is reduced by increased haste to keep AP DPS contribution constant (14 AP / 1 DPS before adjustments). Does haste cause similar reductions for any other shot type?
And while I'm at it, a couple even more noobish questions...
3) Does miss rate increase at exactly 1.2% per level above self? (so 5% at even level, 8.6% at +3 levels) I saw something on wowwiki indicating that the increase is discontinuous.
4) What's the formula for increased crit% from agility? I know it's 1% per 33 at level 60 and 1%/40 at 70. Perhaps it's a constant 1/33 up to 60, then linear after that?
Thanks!

1 - You have them correct.
2 - Haste has nothing to do with damage for special shots, just the cast speed of some of them. And the bonus damage to Multi-Shot, Aimed Shot and Auto Shot are not scaled down based on haste. RAP and Ammo gains are based off the weapon base speed alone.
3. Pretty much. It's actually 0.04% per point differential in Weapon Skill vs. Defense, and 1% per level difference.
4. It varies for every level. I had the ratios for levels 61-69 at one point, but I threw them away when I hit 70. And it was not a linear rate of progression.

Hey guys, I've been using this spreadsheet for some time and its quite amazing, with its help i did maximize my dmg .
But i think that u calculate scorpid poison wrong for version 19, since +dmg to dots is calculated as :
(spelldmg)*(duration of dot)/15
meaning that not all spelldmg is added to it, only a portion of it. Scorpid poison Rank 4 gains 66.6% of spelldmg and rank 5 gains 53.3% of it.
I did some calculations and testing on my char and im sure this is corect. With this new formula scorpid is still the most superior pet in terms of dmg, but not as much as the spreadsheet calculates.
P.S. I used formulas from: http://www.wowwiki.com/Formulas:Plus...d_Plus_healing

Tried your spreadsheet out and I have a question. After compareing 35 agi 2h vs 70 att 2h, the pet gets more dps from the 35 agi. My question is how? Seems to me that 70 attack is greater then 35 attack. Are you telling me that the little crit % from the 35 agi gives Go for the Throat that much more of a boost to warrent pet DPS greater then 70 attack?

Could very well be. It might also speed up the frequency of Kill Command usage to make the difference too. Without knowing all the details of your spec and gear I can't say which reason is the dominating one, but if you look at the Pet calculations tab you should be able to figure it out.

Ok, thanks.
Just did that. Interesting results.
with 70 attack
base DPS 172.12
special DPS 82.20
KC DPS 70.03
total DPS 324.35
with 35 agi
base DPS 171.11
special DPS 84.25
KC DPS 71.21
total DPS 326.85
Thanks for takeing the time to make this awesome spreadsheet.
Side note, anyway to add powers that come from Leggings of Beast Mastery?

Cheeky, I might have overseen that, but is it possible to add a line to add custom buffs?
I mean, its somehow possible for the hunter through your custom items, but not for the pet.
Lets say I would want to add the effect of that 10% AP talent of a melee shammy. Its totally custom, because it depends on his AP, but it has a large impact on pet dps, so I wish I could enter it somehow as well as maybe just entering bloodlust for fun to see the result

I seem to have encountered a calculation issue that I can't root out. The numbers in your spreadsheet don't agree with the numbers on my character sheet in game (namely, my crit is about 0.5% lower in the spreadsheet). This may simply be a result of user error, but I haven't been able to root out what I haven't accounted for yet. Has anyone else encountered this issue? If not, it's probably me, but I thought I would ask.

I subtract 0.2% crit per level difference between you and the target. If the target is set to level 73 (default) you'll see a 0.6% difference. Could this account for the difference? If not, check to see if the crit rating I get form gear matches what you have in game, and Agility totals.
There are also rounding issues between me and Blizzard. Sometimes they round down, sometimes up, but they are almost never consistent. I try and get things as accurate as I can.

This is a good idea, I'll add it for the next release. Currently there is no way to do what you are trying to do.

Ah ok, once I adjusted mob level to be 70 and corrected a gem error it works out great. I figured it was a user error type thing, but figure I should ask anyhow. As for the info on mob level, I'll keep that in mind in the future. Thanks again!

Well, what I can do for now is, have everything done and ready, write down my own dps and the one of the pet separately, then give me a custom ring which has 500RAP above the real ring, and then I see how the pet dps is changed through the ~100AP it got from scaling. Then just add that to my previous hunter base and I get the total.
