Hello Cheeky,

Thanks for making your spreadsheet working with openoffice, as I don't have office Ms Office... Amazing work

So I was playing around it a bit, and tried to configure my character with it's current gear, enchants and gems.

It came up with a few problems while comparing the results with my armory profile:

- the agility value is wrong (609 instead of 607).
- same for the intellect : 237 instead of 233

I couldn't find any reason for this
I double checked the gear configuration and it seems to be the same. Still I can't log into the game to check if the armory values are *really* correct.
I can send you the filled spreadsheet if you want.

Another thing I don't understand about the %hit chance:
9% is the new hit cap on raid bosses. With surefooted 3/3 and the draenei racial, I need only 5% hit from gear, that's about 79 hit rating.

I have 80 hit rating with my current gear, if the previous numbers are correct I should be at 100% chance to hit. But the spreadsheet give me only 99.08 chance to hit.
In the calculation tab, it seems the Daenei racial is counted, so I'm confused about this.

Any insights ? are my calculations wrong ? or is it a problem in the spreadsheet ?

I think the cell B55 formula needs to include cell B51
current: =IF(SUM(B48:B50,B54:B54)>1,1,(SUM(B48:B50,B54:B54))

I just checked, and I am ignoring the Dranei racial, even though I list it. I'll get a fixed version out tonight for that. Thanks for finding this!

Edit: Kirrina is even faster than I am! (And I am glad I don't hide the formulas)

It looks like the daenei base stats are wrong in the spreadsheet

Screenshot of my character without any equipement here

str:65, agi:170, sta:107, int:78, spi:85

In the spreadsheet they are:
str:65, agi:172 (after LR, base value of 148 instead of 150 ?), sta:107, int:82, spi:85

That would explain the difference of 2 agility and 4 intellect I notified before.

When was this decided 0.o? I've seen no evidence (aside from anecdotes or one persons log claiming 0 misses at 9%) that 8.6% isn't the hit cap.

More about Don Santos

Hello Cheeky,

This morning I checked again the thread mentioning your test:
Sunfury Bow of the Phoenix or Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle - Page 3 - TKA Something

And I noticed this:
My last bout of exhaustive testing put it at a minimum of a 7.6% proc rate (1.7 ppm).
I didn't notice the 1.7 ppm part last time when I compared test results. Now considering the 1.7 ppm:

X = shots per minute
X * 7.6/100 = 1.7
X = 22.37
Y = auto shot speed
X = 60/Y
Y = 2.68

Auto shot speed 2.68 is close to firing Don Santos without quiver(15% haste) and serpent swiftness(20% haste). There may be one 1% haste gear or enchant which brings down auto shot speed from 2.7 to 2.68. Now fom Cheeky's test, proc rate 7.6%(refresh not counted) resulted from a 0.37 shot per second test. From my test, proc rate 2.98%(refresh not counted) resulted from a 1 shot per second test. Does it mean a PPM proc model would be better to model Don Santos proc?

Here are some further calculations:

[Cheeky's Test assuming 2.68 auto shot only]
Shots per minute : 22.37
Proc rate (refresh not counted) : 7.6%
PPM (refresh not counted) : 1.7

[Peter's Test]
Shots per minute : 5400/5376*60 = 60.27
Proc rate (refresh not coutned) : 161/5400 = 2.98%
PPM (refresh not counted) : 161/5376*60 = 1.80

Now both test results are more consistent if we consider in PPM not proc rate.

From my test with manual monitoring refresh comparing to UI record. 36.36% proc is a refresh which can't be detected by UI. Assuming there is also 36.36% proc can't be detected by UI in Cheeky's Test.

[Cheeky's Test assuming 2.68 auto shot only]
Estimated PPM (refresh counted) : 1.7/(1-0.3636) = 2.67

[Peter's Test]
PPM (refresh counted) : 253/5376*60 = 2.82

These two results are close to each other too.

It seems Don santos proc can be modeled by a 1.7~1.8 PPM (refresh not counted) and 2.67~2.82 PPM (refresh counted) model.

But there is still some questions in my mind:

1) 36.36% is obtained from my Test shooting 60.27 shots per minute. And Cheeky is shooting 22.37 shots per minute. Under PPM proc model, will I get more or less buff overlap than Cheeky's Test? Is 36.36% a good estimation for refresh not counted in Cheeky's Test?


2) Referring to wowwiki, PPM proc model calculates Procs per hit base on weapon speed.

Procs per hit = Weapon speed * Procs per minute / 60

Special attacks is not counted in this formula. It means that comparing PPM with a auto shot only test to a auto/steady shot test causes some inaccuracy.

It seems that I should start another test with manual monitored proc with auto shot only.

The way ppm based effects work is that the game creates a % chance per hit based on the unhasted weapon speed. Having a quiver and Serpent's Swiftness shouldn't factor into it at all. So it shouldn't matter that you fired extra shots (unless there is something like a 2 second global cooldown.)

You have aroused my curiosity in this gun again, since your tests seem much more thorough than mine were. I think I'm going to have to run another several thousand shots and see what I can get this time.

Does anyone know of an addon that can track refreshes of procs, as well as the basic proc count?

This seems to indicate PPM staying consistant regardless of haste effects.
Hard to say with specials included, though.

I heard about a tank-addon that cancels specified buffs. For example a tank isn't interested in pulling with a Powerword: Shield.
This addon just cancels such buffs automatically.

If we go shot Dr. Boom with a proc-meter and this tank-addon to cancel Don Santos' buff we should receive accurate data about the proc-rate.

I'll try the two addons and hopefully be able to post a set of results.


And sorry if some skills or NPCs are misspelled, I'm gaming with a german client.

First, thank you Cheeky for a amasing job with the spreadsheet, it's a great tool.

Now to my question, will you implement more target debuffs in the Buffs page?
At the moment i wonder about Shadow Priests Misery (adds 5% to spell damage), I asume this affect things like Arcane Shot, Lightning Breath and maybe Scorpid Poison?

My shot rotation page seems broken. I have macros enabled but even when i click on the buttons and they show that they are pressing the shot rotaion doesnt change or when i press reset nothing happens.

Im using open office, is this a problem? how do i fix this please as currently its stuck on steady/auto rotaion permenantly

Macros don't work with Open Office. You have to enter your shot rotation manually.

I'm hoping to add some of the other judgments on there soon. Misery should apply to everything you list as well. It should be fairly straightforward to add in.

Download and use OpenOffice.org 2 Novell Edition, Novell: Downloads it has support for macros and seems to work fine for me.

Trueshot Aura - error in s/s?

This is a fantastic spreadsheet - very useful indeed.

While messing with it today (v28), noticed that "Trueshot Aura" does not seem to have any impact on results. Problem looks like the formula in J10 on Buffs tab has the 2nd IF clause the wrong way round.

thats what i have. i select enable macros and have even gone into the spreadsheet settings and set macro security to low to try to fix it but nothing. tried downloading fresh spreadsheet as well.

everything else on it works fine for me tho, guess ill have to live without the rotation section

From DST analysis topic:
I can second the info's that Tyran provided, i ran 3 sessions of ~10 minutes each on the ptr and live realms and with (almost) identical gear i hovered between 25% uptime ptr and 45% uptime live.
It seems that DST now has 20-25 internal CD (on PTR).
Cheeky you might want to add that change on your ToDo list.

I use Office 2007, I have enabled macros.

I assume the grey buttons on the spreadsheet are supposed to do something. Eg: Save, Load, Shot Rotations, etc. When I click them... well, I cant click them. Its like the button just isnt there.

Should I have not converted it out of compatibility mode into native 07 mode?

I don't have Excel 2007, so I have no idea how it behaves if you convert it. If it gives you the option to use it in 2002 mode (the program I develop it in) try that and see if the buttons work.

Hi, great spreadsheet. One question that I've been unsucessfully searching for answers for is what values to put in the target AR. Is there a typical value for bosses/mobs per level?

Putting it at about 30% reduction is what I generally do. There are a couple mods out there that will calculate it based on your damage done, but bosses will vary. The reduction you'll see on Void Reaver, and that which you'll see on Astromancer are two very different things.

Edit: While I'm in -- I noticed that when comparing, say, the Gronnstalker's Shoulders with the Spaulders of the Hidden Predator, the Predator shoulders come out ahead for personal dps, and behind for overall dps. This struck me as odd, since the Predator shoulders are ahead in both ap and agi. Upon looking, the armor penetration on the shoulders is affecting the pet calculations. Is this actually how it works? Or is it a spreadsheet bug? Apologies if I missed this discussion, haven't been able to turn up anything related to it on a search.
