This might be a bug:
I load my gear from Armory, then remove your enchants and add mine (I have only a few pieces enchanted) it says: Total DPS 853.82
When I change my shoulders ( [Shoulderpads of the Stranger] with [Delicate Living Ruby]) to anything then put back mine the Total DPS changes to 854.83
It seems the socket bonus (+2agi) stays when I remove it and adds again when I put it back, total agility is 681 instead of 679 after I change shoulders. If I repeat this the socket bonus doesn't add anymore, only once.
I tried to change from Stranger to shoulders with and without socket bonus (Gronnstalker / Hidden Predator) and I had the same error.
Also tried items with gems (with and without socket bonus) and without gems.
I only get this problem with shoulders, (I didn't try every slot though)

2 potential issues could cause this:
1 - Do you use a proxy? I don't have anything in there to support that.
2 - Do you have Firefox installed?
Other than that, I'm not sure what could be causing those errors.

I'm actually on my computer at work, this might be the root cause, I will try it from my house once I get home and see how it goes.
Work Time =WoW looking up time
Home Time = WoW Playing time
Thanks for the response

I had the same problem Mystafet. The spreadsheet works at home and I use Firefox at both work and home. I would assume it's an issue with a proxy as Cheeky said.

It is a problem with your work internet set up.
Most times you don't have a DNS server that can resolve external addresses (turns Google into an IP address). Your browser just forwards the request on to your proxy and the proxy figures it all out.
The solution to your work day boredom lies within: You may need to run the Proxycfg tool for ServerXMLHTTP to work

Have you had a chance to incorporate any math concerning the new armor penetration stat?

Here's a funny thought that crossed my mind, and, before you start mocking me, we ran across the topic while taking to my guildies about a hunter tanking Capernian.
Is there any way of implementing a threat estimation to the spreadsheets? Basically, since you can implement the rotation and estimate damage, it shouldn't - IN THEORY - be too difficult to assign threat values to regular hits and crits.
It's not really any use for anything other than ranged tanking (maybe just for knowing how much threat you can get when you resist a feign or two or how much an MD amounts to halfway through the fight), and I'm really not sure it's worth the effort, but a scientific (ish) approach is always welcome, if it's not out of your way too much
Oh, and this may yet be of use to people whose guilds insist on giving hunters salvation on a regular basis, too

Your TPS is identical to your DPS, unless you wanted to start throwing Distracting Shots in as part of your rotation. With no inherent threat reduction, you should stay comfortably ahead of any ranged class with BoS on them. I know I easily top 1000-1100 TPS on a fight like Morogrim, much higher than our tanks produce. FD resists hurt, as did Hydross last night when he punished me for not being more careful after 2 in a row.

crit %
i got a difference from my char and the one on the spreadsheet
i looked through the calculations, everything is correct until it reaches the weapon skill adjustment. the weapon skill is maxed out at 350, but it says -0.60%. is this how it normally works or is this calculated based on 375 is the highest skill.

With regard to aspect of the viper: has the 2.2 viper been modelled in the spreadsheet or is it still sticking to Mp5=int/4?

I haven't changed it at all. I don't model anything but an instantaneous moment in an infinite-length combat, so I'm not sure what ratio to use.

Version 37
Note: no new Open Office version as this time.
Change Log:
- Corrected more spelling mistakes for Armory compatibility.
- Added new gear (Mysterious Arrow, Mysterious Shell, Cursed Vision of Sargeras, Vengeful Gladiator's Longbow, Vengeful Gladiator's Rifle, Mystic Dawnstone, Steady Talasite, Mystic Bladestone, Steady Crysophase)
- Added Judgment of Wisdom to Target Debuffs on 'Buffs' tab.
- Support Relentless Earthstorm Diamond in first socket for helms that put Meta socket first.
- Factor miss rates into calculations in "on hit" procs for Quick Shots, Don Santos Famous Hunting Rifle, and Dragonspine Trophy. (This makes hit more valuable with those abilities/items than previously shown.)
- Corrected Aspect of the Monkey to be +8% Dodge.
- Corrected some item stats (Vengeful Gladiator's Chain Helm).
- Race is now scraped from the Armory when gear is loaded.
- Added ability set default gems for each color that will be input for any gear you select that has sockets. You can still change the gems out afterward to anything you'd like.
- Added in new food buffs (Kibler's Bits, Spicy Hot Talbuk).

This is great! Maybe the spreedsheet will tell me 1 hit > 1 agi now.
Just a note, though, Quick Shots procs on firing, not on hit (but it doesn't take effect until the next shot -- that's why they buffed it to 12 seconds rather than the 10 seconds it used to be back in the day). I can produce a combat log proving this if you like.
EDIT: Here's the patch note from 1.10:
Improved Aspect of the Hawk - The buff from this talent has had its
duration increased from 8 seconds to 12 seconds. Note that the haste it
provides does not begin until the second shot after the triggering shot.
This change is to compensate for that delay.

I believe the moment you fire is also the moment hit/crit/miss is calculated. A missed ranged attack will, visually, very noticably be different than a successful ranged attack (you'll miss your target completely). Since there is no apparent teleportation or crooked movement of the projectile, this indicates the trajectory (and thus the outcome of the attack) being known from moment of fire.
Updating main posts.
EDIT: Main posts updated.

Good point, Lactose. I guess the thing to do is get a low-level hunter with iAotH and go shoot Dr. Boom or something high level and see if it can proc off a shot that later misses.
EDIT: Interestingly, the text for Master Tactician specifically calls out 'your successful ranged attacks' whereas iAotH says 'all normal ranged shots.' Of course, textual differences in talent and spell descriptions has been a red herring before. I'm taking my old level 60 hunter to Dr. Boom now.

Alright, I got insanely lucky and got a Quick Shots proc off a miss after like, a minute of messing around with my poor little level 60 hunter. Took him longer to *get to* Dr. Boom than to actually test.
Here's a snippet from the combatlog:

11/10 19:17:30.828 You gain Quick Shots.
11/10 19:17:31.359 Your Auto Shot hits Dr. Boom for 176.
11/10 19:17:33.984 Your Auto Shot hits Dr. Boom for 169.
11/10 19:17:35.140 Quick Shots fades from you.
11/10 19:17:36.562 Boom Bot is killed by Suicide.
11/10 19:17:37.406 Your Auto Shot hits Dr. Boom for 189.
11/10 19:17:40.093 Your Auto Shot hits Dr. Boom for 160.
11/10 19:17:40.546 Boom Bot is killed by Suicide.
11/10 19:17:40.546 Boom Bot is killed by Suicide.
11/10 19:17:41.671 Boom Bot is killed by Suicide.
11/10 19:17:43.078 Your Auto Shot hits Dr. Boom for 167.
11/10 19:17:45.250 Boom Bot is killed by Suicide.
11/10 19:17:46.265 Your Auto Shot hits Dr. Boom for 157.
11/10 19:17:46.468 Boom Bot is killed by Suicide.
11/10 19:17:46.468 Boom Bot is killed by Suicide.
11/10 19:17:49.890 You gain Quick Shots.
11/10 19:17:51.437 Your Auto Shot missed Dr. Boom.
11/10 19:17:54.187 Your Auto Shot missed Dr. Boom.
11/10 19:17:57.828 Boom Bot is killed by Suicide.
11/10 19:18:02.171 Quick Shots fades from you.
11/10 19:18:03.031 Boom Bot is killed by Suicide.
11/10 19:18:04.406 Boom Bot is killed by Suicide.
|
I highlighted the buff gain and the shot that procced it. The flight time recorded seems to vary by quite a lot, which makes me uneasy, but visually it procced and the shot went wide.
EDIT: Tested a bit more and got another Quick Shots proc off a miss (standing in a different place this time):
11/10 19:37:12.359 Your Auto Shot hits Dr. Boom for 200.
11/10 19:37:12.968 Boom Bot is killed by Suicide.
11/10 19:37:12.968 Boom Bot dies.
11/10 19:37:14.500 You gain Quick Shots.
11/10 19:37:15.265 Boom Bot is killed by Suicide.
11/10 19:37:15.265 Boom Bot is killed by Suicide.
11/10 19:37:15.265 Boom Bot dies.
11/10 19:37:15.265 Boom Bot dies.
11/10 19:37:15.265 Boom Bot dies.
11/10 19:37:15.390 Your Auto Shot missed Dr. Boom.
11/10 19:37:16.593 Boom Bot is killed by Suicide.
11/10 19:37:16.609 Boom Bot is killed by Suicide.
11/10 19:37:16.609 Boom Bot dies.
11/10 19:37:16.609 Boom Bot dies.
11/10 19:37:17.390 Your Auto Shot hits Dr. Boom for 159.
|
As a note, Master Tactician definitely procs at hit time and should be in the list of stuff that benefits from +hit.

Right, seems Improved Aspect of the Hawk doesn't care whether or not a hit actually connects, then.

Suggestion:
-I believe with the new [Mad Alchemist's Potion] you will be able to have a Flask and an elixir at the same time. Would it be possible to enable this feature. As it stands now, once you select an elixir, it deselects your flask.
(I hope that made sense).

Has there been extensive research into the 2.2 mechanics of aspect of the viper yet? I tried searching the forums for any reference, but as you know there's so many threads and posts with slight references, that finding anything of significance was rather a shot in the dark. If a general formula (even if different between certain ranges) could be made, then you should be able to model mana usage more accurately.
