Announcement: TomTom

http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html

TomTom is your personal navigation assistant in World of Warcraft. This addon is very simple, but provides a nice set of functionality. Thanks to Esamynn for Astrolabe, which does the bulk of the work in this addon.

* A draggable coordinate display showing hundreth precision. This frame can be hidden or locked.
* WorldMap display of player and cursor coordinates. These displays can be hidden.
* The ability to set waypoints based on coordinates.

Slash Commands:
/tomtom
- coord - Show/Hide the coordinate display
- mapcoord - Show/Hide the world map coordinate display
- lock - Lock/Unlock the coordinate display

/way
- reset - Removes all current waypoints
- way <x> <y> [desc] - Adds a new waypoint at x,y with optional note desc

When you set a waypoint, a dot will appear (green) on your minimap. When it goes out of range of the minimap display, it will turn into an arrow, just like the default UI. You can mouse over these waypoints to get detailed information about that waypoint.

This is low in features at the moment, but I hope to add more as time goes on. I wanted to at least get this out so other people can use it.

== If you don't get the name of this addon, you should watch this commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z_neKHdfdA&NR ==

Hmm, how is this different from the waypoint feature of Cartographer + coordinates on a MiniMap addon (e.g. SimpleMiniMap)? It seems it's just another way of doing those two things in one package, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

A feature suggestion: parsing LightHeaded's comments for coordinates, and making a way to just click a coordinate and automatically add a waypoint.

1. Cartographer is a map replacement, and even removing all the modules the addon does more than I want it to. Cartographer uses Ace and relies on almost the entire Ace stack in order to operate, and I don't have any use for that. This addon is short, simple, and does its job well, like all of my addons.

2. Its a different spin on whats already been done. I prefer minimap arrows to mid-screen waypoint arrows. I prefer to be able to see my distance to my waypoint in a tooltip, and be able to view them on the world map.

3. This gave me waypoints, which I didn't have before and that's all it gives me. If I need to track date, I can use MetaMap or some other map addon.

4. I use the default map models, which means no extra textures, no nasty SetTexCoords. The arrows are the same exact arrows that are used by the default UI, using their model.

As for LightHeaded, as I posted yesterday, that's exactly where I'm headed with this, allowing you to click on coordinates to add a LightHeaded waypoint with the quest name.

You can use TomTom if you want a small addon that provides coordinate display and waypoints. If you have something that already does that, and like things like spamming your guild with your location, then use somethign else.

Thanks for the reply! Meant no offense, just wanted to clarify the direction the addon is taking.

Would it possible to also allow LightHeaded one-click waypointing with Cartographer? I prefer the mid-screen waypoint arrow, and already have Cartographer and the entire Ace stack running. (I have a very different Addon philosophy ... see my AddOn listing here: http://rupture.com/characters/US/Auc...ras?tab=addons )

Thanks for all of your amazing work.

I'm not sure how many integration modules I want to write, but it wouldn't be very hard at all. I'll look at it this weekend when I look at the TomTom/LightHeaded integration.

I also don't like cartographer and trying to avoid ace libs in general as much as I can, but this one seems to be what I'm looking for since I like that sort of minimalistic addons/helpers

keep up the good work
