I would like to add that pitbull is the best available unit frame addon as far as memory usage.

I have run ag_unitframes, discord unit frames, and perl.

Pitbull wipes the floor with all of them.

I was asked to switch to pitbull for this ui ive been keeping up for some friends.

Firstly I'd like to say, its amazing. SO much can be done with it, it boggles the mind. I was always a big fan on super detail oriented mods that were still manageable, here is a great example, so thanks! It's mods like this that make me want to keep playing, just so I can mess around with them more. Oh well, wife aggro will do that.

I have a question/problem and it is this: I want to change the names on on all my UF to match the class of the unit. Yet i see no option for this. I can't find a "color player name by class" any where. Any ideas?

In text -> name -> syles there should be a "color by class" option.

Or do you just want the names to be "Warrior" "Rogue" etc.?

You should be able to change text strings to almost anything imaginable by using a custom style.
Select:
text -> name -> styles -> custom
Then you need to enter the custom string under:
text -> name -> custom style

This should look something similar to this:
[Name:ClassColor]

If it does not work initially, then you may need to install DogTags (a wowace addon companion to pitbull). I say this because I have DogTags installed, but it shows as disabled.
Just try it out as I've outlined and if it doesn't work, go grab DogTags at WowAce downloads

I'm not sure what the cause is, but if I'm in a raid and I zone (doesn't matter where) my party-frames disappear until I /console reloadui. I've checked the Pitbull options and it's still loaded, but they don't appear. Anyone have an idea how to fix / what's causing this. None of the other people in the guild I've talked to have had this problem.

I know the aura module supposedly has alot of "issues". Atm, I'm having them displayed ontop, and often I see them skipping a row or two, instead of sticking to the unit frame. However that's also the only real issue I have.

I find it interesting that this is your experience, because mine is exactly the opposite.

I'm currently using a version of AGuf that's in branch and it idles around 500kB and hits 700kB in a raid.

On my computer, Pitbull consumes a massive 1.5MB idling, with another 700kB devoted to the aura module (for a total of 2.2MB, over 4x AGuf).

I have since ditched pitbull because frankly, it has turned into a resource hog and the aura module destroys my framerate.

On my PC Pitbull_Aura uses 500-600kB in a raid, and normal Pitbull uses about 1 meg. I have the newest version.

I will gladly spend 1.5 megs compared to 700 kB for the added features of Pitbull.

The same way I felt till it got to the point where, in combat in a 25 man raid, my FPS never went above 3. With only 3 frames shown, and only 1 using the aura module.

I switched back to AG_UF and my performance went back up to normal. Pitbull has way too many modules and many are slow.

Does ag_uf show cooldown spirals now? Is there also a way to make it show estimated heal amounts? Those two things are probably what I'll miss most about pitbull.

This is just an idle observation over the last week or so of SSC and TK.


When you go into a fight with alot of things happening, large numbers of mobs hitting alot of people, or abilties that hit everyone at once. Pitbull chugs.

The best example I have for this is vashj, i was using Tapestry as a basis and removing some fo the healy mods to replace them with huntery mods. On Vashj i would get about 15fps with Pitbull, one try while everyone else was CRing i took out pitbul and put agUF back in. Instant increase in performance, i would get 35-40 during the same fight.


I disable almost all pitbull mods, i just keep, player, target, targets target, party, party pets, player pet.

No spark no interact lines, no estimated heals none of the extras, just the frames...no raid frames either.


Oddly I put ppitbull back in for Solarian on sunday night.

Thats my setup with a target frame in the middle of the two action bars. It did NOT exhibit the same problem as it did with Vashj.

It seems that with vashj the sheer number of things going on at once kills pitbull. I am not sure if pitbull processes combat events when you have combat text turned off, however I have no idea whats causing this huge slow down specifically for vashj.

Well, for me the opposite is true. Using Pitbull with most modules turned off, Aura module only for the target/focus frame.

I get playable fps during Vashj, but Solarian is the single most annoying fight in terms of performance. Fps drops to 2-3 when she is engaged, then ironically goes up a bit to 5-10 once the adds spawn/AE starts.

I'll try to disable the aura module and/or go back to AGuf to see if that has a noticable impact on fps, but I have my doubts that a single mod would be the cause for this.

Pitbull cuts my FPS by ~25% on fights with lots of buffs and debuffs on the target. Also get stuttering with only player and target enabled, when I'm moving my target back and forth from the MT and other people in the raid. Guess it's the aura module.

Ag_UnitFrames works fine.

Assuming it is the Aura Module, is there a planned update / fix to the problem. Do they even know where the bottle neck is? And, is there an interim solution like using some other addon to track target auras?

Seems not really but who knows...

I noticed the Aura slowdowns when I upgraded from some 3xxxx build to 4xxxx. Just can't enable this module, no matter if it's TK trash or Gruul, whenever I'm in 25 person raid I get horribly sluggish frame rate while in combat.

Seems switch to some other unit frame mod is in order. Using PitBull with some other mod to display buffs and debuffs is kinda a waste since I'm only using self, target, target of target and focus frames from PitBull anyway.
