I would recommend installing it just for the features available to your fellow raiders and raid leaders. At the very least, you could just disable the ora2 main tank display and still use your pitbull main tank boxes with ora2 just running in the background for that vital information.
Is this (the part in bold) what is required for the pitbull frames to work? I have never been able to make the tank windows in pitbull work with oRA2 and had all but given up.

Edit: I figured it out (for me anyway). You have to set the oRA2 main tank list to "0", as in the number of tanks to show in the list = "0". It finally showed up when I did this.

I hope this helps anyone having issues.

Hey-o.

Quick question - Anyone having load issues with PitBull lately? Since the start of BT and till now, I've had performance issues in raids, especially nuke fights like RoS and now Brutallus. After the 2.4 addon update galore, I decided to locate the issue. I've enabled both kpm2 and CPU profiling under PerformanceFu. I can get some pretty large spikes at times and when I check PerformanceFu[1] it shows PitBull using ~40% CPU. kpm2[2] shows PitBull getting a lot of CPU time, only beaten by "World".

I'm going to erase all settings and reinstall PitBull to try to handle the issue. I just wanted to ask if there are others in my situation.

[1] - PerformanceFu is like 'top', simulated real-time CPU usage.
[2] - kpm2 shows CPU time, meaning it translates into CPU usage over time.

Baby, you can hold my balls.

For me, Pitbull has been relatively stable for months now in usage terms. The main thing to reiterate here is that Pitbull is a VERY full-featured addon. You should disable any and all modules that you don't use especially things like incoming heals, interact lines etc.

Yeah. My problem now is that when I look at the modules list, I don't know what 3/4 of the modules do and I can only trigger the extended CPU usage during raids. But this is what I'm planning to do. Disable "everything" and monitor performance during trash in a corner.

If you don't know what the modules are, disable them. A lot of the "Modules" are just icons (voice chat icon, leader, master looter etc) so you won't be saving a ton of CPU time from those being off anyways, but stuff like estimated heals, interaction lines, things like that could help you out.

Hey all, I have a question about designing layouts for Pitbull.

I'm trying to decipher the .lua layout file to hand-code these so that I can avoid using the eleventy-billion menus that we call setup these days. Does anyone know if there is a resource out there the describes how this works? I noticed a fairly large thread on the wowace.com forums for sharing custom layouts, but I could find no information on how to actually hand-write this code.

Any ideas, or am I stuck using the in-game config menu?

I have an serious lag problem since 2.4. Any time an raidplayer disconnect or login (after an disconnect) pitpull produce serious lag which results alomst in an lockup for 5-10 seconds. This "lockups" are also present when nothing happens, like 24 players waiting for an disconnected player to pull an boss mob. My entire UI almost freeze for 5-10 seconds as soon as the player login.

I was able to narrow down this problem. The "lockups" are only when I use Pitbull. They are away as soon as I disable Pitbull. Has someone an idea to solve this problem? I love pitbull and dont want to move away, but this problem forces me to drop pitbull.

Since the cast names got fixed after 2.4, I can only see the name of target casts if I was targeting the mob while it began to cast. If I switch onto a target while it is already casting, the name for that cast won't show up. I'm using the standard styles for cast name and cast time (which experiences the same bug).

Any insight?

Same problem here, although not nearly as bad, it's about 2-5 seconds for me.

Strange. My Target's health bar has almost every variable on the bar making it useless.
This is an amazingly silly quirk of how pitbull reads which tags are available to be edited. You are required to actually have an existing unit of the type you intend to the edit the frame properties for. So options for Player are always available. Pet, Target, Target of Target, Focus, Party, etc are ONLY available if you target someone, focus a target, are in a party, etc etc.

Looks like you answered before I edited. I had gotten a response from a different board. Thanks for the answer though. Should of kept it up there for everyone to see incase they have a similar problem.

Small update on my reported problem: I've done as people suggested, I deleted the folder and reinstalled(in case there was some file leakage) and then disabled everything down to this-I-may-actually-use. Running around doing dailies took PitBull down from 4-5% to ~1% CPU usage and memory usage went down to about 1/3 of the old values. Still haven't raided with it, but highly recommended!

Off-topic: Silly addons like Stopthespam, an addon which blocks addon spam, burns 15% CPU during heavy combat logging. I never knew. Taking a closer look at what I have infested my Interface directory with really helped me clean up my old crap. Stuff like AtlasLoot is reported to use 3-4% even when not in use. Food for thought.

How did you measure the CPU usage of individual addons? I could use some spring cleaning as well.

Even if you have the configuration mode set to solo/party/raid (where it puts up test version of the bars)?

I have used PerformanceFu(Remember to enable CPU profiling. This uses some resources in itself) and KLHPerformanceMonitor | World of Warcraft Addons | World of Warcraft @ Curse.com . The former being the easiest, most updated and user friendly option.

I've never tried it in Config mode, so maybe that's how its meant to be used. Its a bit odd though since nothing in the options for the target, etc Texts says "please have something targeted or alternatively use the Configuration Mode."

Haven't seen this answered yet or I am terrible at searching. Is there a way to tell pitbull to display only my debuffs on target or even only my party's?

I am having this lag too, one of my guildies comment that it might be due to the custom dogtags 3.0. He said the problem resolve when he downgraded pitbull to a previous version.

However, I cant replicate that as I dont keep backups. Now I am having lag and fps issues in raids when previously it is not there for the first few days of 2.4. Happen to me after last weekend when I updated my addons.

I believe PitBull only filters by class. You can achieve this by going to the Target->Other->Auras section end checking the 'Enable debuff filtering' box.

Thanks,

Another problem I have with pitbull, is that no longer allows me to split buffs and debuffs onto two different sides of the Target UF. I am starting to think that it is time to dump the whole UI folder and redo it.

I am trying to add a new text to my Raidframes. However, when I type a name into the appropriate field, nothing happens--enter does nothing, and there are no buttons to click. Anyone have any advice?
